September 29, 2012 - Ropin' Some Magic in the Western Caribbean

Welcome! Go over to the roll call page and list your room number: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Au04YNSwAgnodGRIbS0wTmVLV2llU3VHMXhTVkZuSlE#gid=0
You can just add it to the bottom of the page and I will "put it in its place."

Also, if you'll read back a few posts, you may want to join our Beauties and Beasts open bar. We're wearing pink t shirts, boas and tiaras. (The men have tan t shirts.) There is a number to call for you to pay for it.

We have special bands that you can get at the "meet and greet" which will be in the Promenade Lounge at 3 p.m. on Saturday. Most of us are wearing red t shirts with a graphic that I can send you if you'll send me your email address. (Either pm or post your email here)

If you let us know your room number, names and kid's ages and gender--some of us will have extra FE for you. The actual list closed several weeks ago, but a few people have extras. You may also want to visit the dollar stores and pick up a few things to put in the FE for your kids from "Mickey."

I know there is a lot on this thread, but you may want to at least read back a few pages. There is some really good information that the experienced cruisers have posted (probable schedule, packing tips, etc.)

Again -- Welcome!

8 DAYS!!! :hourglass

Btw, our family already planned our shirts for boarding so we'll not have the logo red shirts so many of you have. I'll likely see you before you see us! Depending on how frantic boarding is for us I'll post while we are waiting to board. :thumbsup2

We won't have the logo shirts either, my husband and son won't wear matching clothes and I haven't been able to get the iron ons to work (I am not creative at all, lol). I will be wearing a red shirt, though. :)

Hi, Everyone--Can't wait that we'll be leaving one week from today to drive down to Galveston!!

Just checking to see who we should be keeping an eye out for at the Tropicante in Costa Maya! DH and I will be there with my parents, our DD, 5, and our DS, 3. I know several people have mentioned making reservations or thinking about going further up in the string, but I thought it would be fun to see everyone in one place :).

Us too, although DH and my dad will be in red. I like the suggestion of posting a picture from port...if I can figure out how to do it...or maybe I'll just get them all to put on their embarkation outfits for a pic ahead of time...

Looking forward to meeting everyone!

My carry-on is packed with all my meds and extra testing supplies (I take 11 pills each morning and 7 every night!) I am taking an extra week's worth of prescriptions with me--plus a copy of the labels the pharmacist gives me whenever I get a prescription filled.

The yogurt smoothies I drink before bed each night to help keep my blood sugar up in the middle of the night is in the fridge in its collapsible cooler.

The Target bag is packed with the FE gifts I made and the extra ones for late comers.

Clothes are on a special area of the closet rod ready to pack.

Lucy is set to spend the first 3 days I am gone with her "best friend," Paco (who is also a service dog) and the 7 days we are on the cruise with my BIL Dan and her cousin, Pepper. Dan has food that I gave him after I grocery shopped. Judy (Paco's mom) will have Lucy's crate, food dishes, and her doggie seat belt for Dan's truck. Yes, Lucy is seat belted in the back seat when I take her somewhere--she needs to be safe, too!

I think I am going to put a list on the back of the front door so I can make sure I have everything. As forgetful as I am these days, I'll probably forget something if I don't!

We have reservations at the Tropicante for our group of 8 (we have 4 boys ages 13, 11, 9, and 2 and my in-laws). It should be fun.

I am planning to take today and tomorrow to go through my packing list and start putting some things in suitcases.

We have been packed for weeks...but then just to make sure I had everything, I ended up taking everything out several times and repacking...then as my and my daughter's carry ons sat side by side I noticed hers looked MUCH larger than mine...anyone know if United is going to throw a big stink about a 21x10x14 carry on? Says on their website max is 22x9x14...or 45 linear inches...which hers is (45 linear inches)...it's a hard sided rolling one tho...I would really hate to check a bag due to a 1" overage in thickness and with our luck it would get lost in transit...

We have a table for 3 (my mom, me and my daughter...this is a ladies only vacation :)) but we probably won't be at the table much.

Another great thing to pack is baby powder! We have used it for years...it removes all the sand from your body if you sprinkle it on & rub! Nice if you are going for a beach excursion & don't want sandy bodies/feet/faces/hands the whole day!

We will be there. It will be me, DH, DS (4), and DS (3). We also booked Stingray City with Captain Marvin's that I noticed you posted about on the main board. So excited!!!

We have our loungers reserved! :beach:
Me, DH, DS (14) and DD (9)

My SIL (jpglisson) and her family are also going. I'm really looking forward to that day of the cruise!!

We have reservations too! My DH and DD (5 1/2). My DSIL (Belle6000) with her fam will be there as well. :beach: Here is to a beautiful sunny day at the beach.

Yes! That is a great tip. We always use baby powder to get sand off. I even keep a little bottle in the car for sandy feet at the park. Thanks for the reminder...I need to go get that out of the car and pack it! :)

Fun!! Which tour are y'all doing? We're doing the 10:00 three stop snorkel trip, since they said we'd be cutting it close for the 8:30 two stop trip.

Thank you for reminding me of the Pedialyte packet mixes. We're taking electrolyte packet mixes for DH who sometimes needs electrolytes to prevent other medical problems.

Also, I'm not sure a standard night light will work in the bathroom. Others who have been on board the Magic can correct me. On other ships I've used either a small flashlight I leave in the bathroom, or a small, battery operated, "pop" it light I buy at the dollar store.

WOW! This is going to be a lot of us! We'll have 8 in our party, but we're just stopping in for lunch and for the kids to play a bit. The kids all wanted to do a dolphin excursion and I wanted to make sure I got to see the chocolate factory in Cozumel, so Costa Maya it is for the dolphins too, but Tropicante first. (The men are diving in Grand Cayman and wanted to do dolphins too.)
