September 29, 2012 - Ropin' Some Magic in the Western Caribbean

Today I called to arrange for a bed rail and high chair for youngest DGS and a booster chair for 4 year old DGS. I'm making guacamole and a yummy black bean and mango dip to go with nachos for dinner. The margarita machine is on the counter and the glasses are in the freezer. I've got the sea and island music playing, and I've got FE gifts all around. It's a good day! :thumbsup2

We've been watching You Tube videos with the Disney Magic horn tune. :happytv: For those of you who have yet to hear it, check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=buTWDIEbfQs&feature=related :music:

Here's another picture that made me smile :):

That tune was one of the most memorable things about our last cruise! Before each PA announcement they make they play it too. I can't help but smile every time I hear it!! :) My husband tried to put it on my phone as a ring tone once, but it wasn't loud enough for me to hear in my purse.

According to the roll call list, we have 52 cabins in our group!
:teacher: There are 900 cabins on the magic....
So that is 5.7 percent of the cabins are Disers...

And thats probably not all the disers, that will be on ship!!:goodvibes

21 days ::yes::

Its a very good day!!

This was one of the towel animals that greeted us when we came back to our stateroom on our last cruise...it's a lobster wearing my daughter's sunglasses. :)

It's amazing how happy looking at this makes me!
Just 3 more weeks!! :cool1:

Sounds like my kind of day!!!

Oh, I hope this is true!! The tax isn't much, but the $3 admin fee on each bottle is! :)

Well, after digging some more I see there was a change in the law since we last cruised out of Galveston as you found on the TABC web site. We used to have a limit of one liter per 21 year old Texas resident. Now it appears to be one gallon of distilled spirits with the $3 fee. Here is the link to the House Bill 1936 effective September 2011: http://www.tabc.state.tx.us/public_information/notices/2011/summary-of-bills-2011.asp

Evidently the fee was 50 cents on a liter prior to HR1936. As I wrote earlier, the only time we were asked to pay for the tax stamp was crossing at a border from Mexico a few years ago. :confused3. I will see what I can find out about recent experiences in Galveston with inbound cruise passengers.

Had dd try on her dresses today and whew! they all fit. Now she can either join us for dinner or hang out in the kid's area.

Last night she and I had "pillow talk" about the cruise. She is so excited about making new friends. She is not shy and she refuses to let anyone else be shy either. She is also happy that there will be other kids her age (she'll be 6 at the end of October) and that some of them are dressing up.
princess:

Almost finished with our FE and have the gifts. I just need to put them together. Our guest room is filling up. :)

Thanks. Let me know if you find anything else out. I have no problem with the little tax they put on each bottle, but the $3 fee seems steep. I like the link you posted. It shows me who sponsored that part of the bill so I know who not to vote for! ;)

Roll call is updated--please let me know if there are errors or changes.

If you have GTY, please update the roll call and FE. Thanks

Okay - I think I am 'over-reading' and "over-thinking" about what to take! Question my DH just asked was 'do we need to take bottled water'? I have read no, i have read yes, but don't know the answer. If we take it does it have to be in 'luggage' or the 'carry on' since it's liquid? Any thoughts.......

We are taking empty water bottles. That way we can fill them up on the ship and take them off the ship with us. If you think you'll want bottled water when you're on an excursion or in port I'd definately bring it. They sell it as you're getting off the boat and it's very pricey! I think it is suppose to be in your carry on luggage though. I don't want to haul around heavy bottled water and have it take up room so that's why we're bringing refillable water bottles. Some excursions include a bottle of water too so if you've booked something be sure to check and see if they offer it.

The water on the ship is drinkable. Not bad either but I have been on when I thought the water taste funny. I usually bring a case of water... I check the unopened case in with my luggage (not in my luggage). It is in plastic bottles so no problem checking the case of water in as luggage. It has always made it to my room. On the 2 week cruises I check in 2 cases...

It is personal preference. I like the convenience of grabbing a bottle and going. I just tend to drink more water if I have bottled water.
