September 29, 2007 - Magic

You can definitly tell it is getting closer because the board is moving a lot faster! 2 weeks from today at this time we will be at the port!!!!! :cool1:

Did we decide when we are stuffing the bags?

My DH is wearing a suit to formal, I am wearing a navy velvet dress and dd is wearing a cinderella princess dress I made her. We are missing semi-formal to go to Palo's.

Hope everyone has a great weekend! It is cooler here today high of 69 so I am ready for the warm weather of the carribean!

I ordered two baskets from Shirley too as a surprise for Zane and my sister...I am soo excited I am not good at keeping surprises at all but they have no idea we are taking a limo to the port or the baskets !!

Who else are we missing on this list? Please PM me with your kids names and cabin number in order to be added to this list of goody bag recepients :cool1: 12yrs old and under... anything extra will be given out to older children in our group if they want them

Veronica---love the pics of your dd at the tea party and with the princesses

JD--terrific story about dh !

Tinks Mama---so cool you're going to suprise your children. Love the designs.

GG/aka Mr Sneed---thanks so much for the link......ahhhh...I'm dreamin' :cloud9: right now about being there (instead of getting ready for work ! )

LAWalz....love the smilies ! Here's my LESS than 2 week dance (12 days for us !) :cheer2:  :rockband: :dancer: party: :jumping1: :jumping3: :jumping2: :sail: :bounce:  :Pinkbounc :ccat: :simba: :donald: :stitch: :dumbo: :sulley: :tigger: :figment: :goofy: :mickeyjum :dogdance:

I think it's terrific about the goodie bags...obviously my kids (ages 14 and 16) don't need them. But I'm still looking for something to contribute......so much has been accounted for already. Any ideas ? This is really a great group !

I know with all of the halloween stuff coming out I have seen packs with little bags of pretzels, cookies, etc...I thought about getting some to use as snacks if we go to a movie. They say the movie candy on board is really expensive.

Has anyone been on a cruise when a new disney movie has been released? I want to see the new disney movie The Game Plan with the Rock and it's comes out on 9/28. I would be soooo happy if they showed it on the cruise !!! :cool1:

Hi Zane Anthony,
I will be looking for stuff now that Halloween is upon us. A new store just with halloween items opened up near my house. I'll look for something........

Yes....we have been on the ship when a new movie opened. In fact, on our 11/02 Wonder cruise, Santa Claus 2 opened (even before the public got to see it !). The ship made a big deal out of it and even rolled out a red carpet in front of the theater. The theater was PACKED....they were turning people away for the first night it showed. So if a new movie does premiere on the ship-----get there early ! I mean like an hour early ! They sell popcorn and candy outside the theater doors. There was line for Santa Claus 2. Some chose to stand and watch it :confused3 and others were turned away.

I think I saw previews for the Game Plan----I'd like to see that one as well.

pwnort64 :I'm currently assigned to a cat 11 and overall, I'm thrilled with our room assignment. But just for grins, I thought I would check into what opportunities we had for upgrades. According to Disney, there are only 11, 6 and 4 categories left. The pricing for any upgrade to a 6 was $1200,
Hi Paula,
How did u find out this information ?
I am waaay behind on our thread here and just got to reading this post. I also saw Pauline ask if cat 4 was concierge----to my knowledge, it is not. The cat 4's sleep a family 5. We actually looked into one on our 2004 cruise. Paying cash, it would have cost us $8K. Instead, we got to connecting cat 10's (the SPH rooms) and paid only $4K (for both cabins). So we didn't get a balcony, but we got another split bathroom which was a major perk for our family. The cat 4 is the same sq footage as the cat 6 I believe----it has a folddown murphy style bed for the 5th person.

Does anyone sneak in to the other Cruise Meet for Sept 22nd? :guilty: I've checked in there a couple of times but I don't think they have the amount of kids on their ship that we do. I feel like a spy. Maybe I should go look for the October 6th meet. :rotfl2:

Back from the October 6th Meet, yeah, I think ours is the best group but I'm bias! Although the October 6th 1st page did give me an idea. How are we going to notice each other in the terminal? We won't be wearing bracelets or pins like some other meets are. Hmm... I think we, as a group, had semi-discussed this awhile back. Here is my suggestion and I'm opening it up for discussion. Why don't we all wear something lime green to send out a hint! It doesn't have to be a full on lime-green t-shirt (although it sounds like GG will be wearing a lime green shirt) because I already have my "boarding" shirt picked out and it's not green. But I was thinking I could go buy some lime green ribbon for DD and I to tie around our ponytails or something. I also think we should post pictures of ourselves again the week of the cruise so we can all study and get familiar. (Yes, there will be a test!!) Okay, this is now open for discussion so post away!!

So many posts to reply to. Love the pictures of the tea party and with the princesses. I didn't realize they had a big princess meet like that. Very cool!

Love the design for the suprising the kids shirt too!

I did buy a lime green sleevless sweater to wear to lunch on Monday probably. It would be great to be able to say 'hi' if you see someone in the terminal though. I think a bit of lime green ribbon anywhere on you or your stuff would be a great way to identify and inexpensive too. I'll probably get some and tie around my wrist or pin on my shirt. I'll tie a bit around my carry-on bag handle too if that's the way we decide to go.

I don't mind sharing pictures either. I am extremely active (moderator) on another Disney message board and I have made some of my very best friends from there. We've done girlfriend trips during Mousefest and couples trips during the marathon. I traveled to California last year to do the Disneyland 1/2 marathon with some friends from there and about 30 folks came to Nashville this Spring to do the Country Music Marathon with me and another local member. That was the third year some of my friends from there had come down for the event. :goodvibes We get along great and I feel blessed that I've been able to meet so many cool people who have that same wonderful love of all things Disney that my family has. It eventually took that leap of faith to meet outside of a message board, and WDW or the cruise is a great way to do it. It didn't take me long to figure out that they weren't internet ax murderers either. :lmao:

I know the DIS is a much bigger place, but I feel comfortable sharing a family picture here with this group on our thread.

We're more fun than 9/22 or 10/6, huh?!! :cool1:

Trent and I went shopping today and bought a ton of our "travel sized" items for the cruise. Woo-hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are so excited!!! Can't stand it!!!! DD is continuely reminding us how many days are left!!

I like the idea of an "identifier" so that we can spot each other on the first day. We already have our boarding shirts picked out, but we'd be willing to do the ribbons or anything else.

:woohoo: :cheer2: pixiedust: party:

Wow TNMomof3 you're quite a disney Mom/family for doing so many events. I might be going to the CHOC walk at Disneyland this friday.. depending on how much more I need to get done for the cruise.

Went to Target, ToysRUs, and REI today. I got travel stuff at Target like travel size downey wrinkle remover, more sunblock, etc. I got my DD's birthday present to open on the cruise from Toys R Us and got some beach toys, and I got the dry packs that I needed from REI and a reusable waterproof camera (takes 35mm.. yea I know.. kinda old fashioned but it's a waterproof/underwater camera for $17.00).

I completely forgot to buy pillowcases to be signed.. at least I still have next week. Other than that.. I think I'm done with shopping for the cruise.. (DH breathing a sigh of relief :rolleyes1 )
I'll be sending out a box monday.

I've decided on our embarkation day clothes and will FINISH packing by next weekend!!!!! No docs yet

So, how's everyone doing in preparing for the cruise??

If nobody is comfortable posting a picture, they shouldn't. I don't blame anyone for being cautious especially in this day and age. I think if everyone wants to wear an indicator in the terminal that would be great. Whatever lime green you want to sneak on to your person!

And yes, my personal opinion is we're more fun than 9/22 and 10/6! But like I said, I'm bias!! ;)

I'm half tempted to wear a label on my back, "Hi, My Name is JDBlair." That would definitely cut out the guess work!! :rotfl2:

Oh my gosh, I am spending way too much money in preparation. I took DS to the mall this morning and purposely left my credit card at home (his teacher at school gave him a 30% off coupon for Aeropostale and he wanted to go there). Getting this kid to pick out a pair of sandals has been like asking him to commit murder! Okay, this kid is in love with his tennis shoes or something, I don't know! But I have insisted for weeks that he will absolutely want sandals on the beach. How this child lives in Phoenix, Arizona and doesn't own a pair of sandals is completely beyond me!!! Finally he agreed on a pair of sandals. And fortunately, they didn't break the bank! I can't begin to tell you how much I dread shopping for the final item on the list of things he needs - dress shoes. :scared1: By the way, if you see a kid walking around the beach wearing tennis shoes, throw something at him and tell him to go put on the sandals his mother spent weeks shopping with him for! :grouphug:

The only things I have left on my "list to buy" are 2 cans of sunscreen, lanacane (thanks Pauline :hippie: for the tip) and DS's dress shoes. I'm ready to stop this madness and start the cruise!

Hi everyone. I was just looking at page one and wondering where everyone is? We're only 2 weeks away and many of our fellow DISers haven't been posting. Where is everyone:confused3 If you are out there lerking please post.

I'll account for Goofydad24, he's been doing a lot of side work to get us some spending money for vacation. He should be back by next week sometime. I hope.

We are looking forward to seeing The Game Plan also!!:goodvibes Thanks for the warning about the lines. I am bringing licorice and we are getting baskest from Shirley for movie munchies!:cool1:

Neither sis nor I know how to post a pic :confused3 so we are out of that loop! But I will say we are a group of seven and my Mom will be in a wheelchair, maybe I will tie something lime green on that.:lmao:

We live in NY and my sister can't get her kids out of their TEVA sandals, they wear them until it gets cold, go figure!:goodvibes

Did we decide on a time and place for a mini meet at MNSSHP on Friday the 28th? We have dinner at LTT at 4:25pm.

Can't wait to meet everyone!!

I have our boarding shirts (matching red shirts with goofy on them) picked out already but I like the idea of possibly a green ribbon or braclet. I think my dd has a lime green braclet I can wear.

I have not started packing yet but I do have a vacation box that is starting to overflow! I have to finish sewing a few of my dd's outfits before I can pack them away. Has anyone gotton Bonine yet? Where can you find it? I tried walmart but didn't see any.

I would love to see Game Plan onboard so hopefully it will be playing. I think that there is a number you can call a week before your cruise to see what is playing but I forgot the #.

Come Monday I can say next week we are leaving for vacation!!

Yes this group is definitely the best. In fact when I was trying to decide which cruise to book ( 9/15, 22, or 29 ) I went to all of the meets boards to see which one and wanted to join and you see where I ended up  Great choice !!!

I already have my shirts for the first day...home made mickey head shirts but I can get something lime green to time somewhere!!
