September 28 2014 - Dream

New to the DIS boards! This is not our first Disney vacation but our very first cruise. EVER. I'm excited but slightly nervous about getting sick:( Traveling with my son who is 11 and my daughter who will be 16 months. Any advice for traveling with little ones? Are we crazy for taking this cruise? We took her to Disney in November at 6 months and it was fine, but she wasn't able to walk at that time either!

Hello everyone!

First time poster here and first time cruiser so am totally excited! This cruise will be our honeymoon, followed by 9 day/8 night stay at WDW.
As you can imagine, we are pretty stoked and already counting down the days till we embark :)

Am looking forward to meeting other cruisers here!

Hello everyone! :wave2:

My husband John, our son Matthew (6), and I (Christi) will be sailing with you guys on this cruise. I get to celebrate my bday on this cruise (30th)! We will be in stateroom 5552. We just sailed on the Magic and developed what might be a cruise addiction, so we rebooked onboard for this cruise.

We are super excited to check out the Dream. Nice to meet you all!

Hi everyone! We are booked and super excited to go on our first ever disney cruise! Husband and I will be cruising with our almost 3 year old daughter!

Idk how she'll be with the 5 hour flight so I guess we will just have to see! So fun to read that there will be many kids her age on this cruise!

I was just wondering how people in this group felt about alcoholic FE gifts. Would some of you be offended to receive something like that? (adults only of course)

Just tossing around ideas. :duck:

Hi Christi, what a wonderful way to celebrate your birthday!

We would certainly not be offended by any alcohol FE gifts

:)

Laura, do we have an approximate number of cabins for our FE group? I'm just trying to think ahead! Too many great ideas! Thank you!

We really want to bring a gift for everyone in out FE group vs just a gift per cabin, but the group is still growing and we will have very limited amount of suitcase space! This is all new to us and we are trying to figure out how many people are usually in an average FE group? Like I said, we really want to gift everyone but might not be able to :confused3

To tell the truth, although it is wonderful having so many people participating in the FE, bringing gifts for a very large amount of people could pose a challenge, particularly for those flying in with limited luggage space!

It is also our first time; but I have read about many FE meets dividing participants in groups, such as of 10 or 15 staterooms each - with those wishing to participate in more than one group welcome to join as many as they want.

Perhaps it might be a good idea, depending on the numbers in our meet, to divide participants into smaller groups...

I think splitting into 2-3 groups would work out much better for those trying to fit FE gifts into luggage and planes! I know some people already want to gift by cabin and they still can, but how about those who want to gift each person divide and conquer! What does everyone think about that? :yay:

I guess it all depends on how many cabins end up participating. :/ we jumped to this cruise date from another date (vancouver repo) and their FE groups were capped at 15 each. And good thing because when I left the group at 130 days out...there were already 2 groups of 15.

Soooo I guess we'll see. We are planning on doing a cabin gift and then individual kid gifts...but yes, yikes on needing some extra luggage space!

I'm new to this group. Just got off my rump to look for you guys. I'm very excited to be taking our third Disney cruise with you.
On my two previous cruises they ended up splitting the FE group, but did allow for the option if someone wanted to participate within the entire group. I have done a small group of about 20-24 and a larger group of about 40 (cabins, not people). It does make it hard but I really enjoy it. I find I need an extra suitcase to bring my stuff, but it goes home full from all the wonderful gifts we receive in return.

I must admit I prefer the idea of splitting the FE groups into smaller, more manageable groups; with the option of joining all the groups for those who wish.

Wow, kbvmcrae, 40 cabins! That must easily be around 100 people!

Hi All,:wave2:

We have joined your cruise.:cool1: So excited to be cruising the Dream for the first time.:thumbsup2 Our first cruise was on the Wonder last Sept. for a 7nighter. I know 4nights is less, but I'm just happy to be back on DCL! Cruising is DH, myself, DS, and DD. We were not sure that we would be able to make this cruise since we book 2 cruises for next year, but it looks like we should be able to pull it off.pixiedust: Can't wait to meet you all only 119 more days!:banana:

:welcome:

This will be our first time on the Dream as well; actually the first time on a cruise ever for us!

I am sure 119 days will go by so quickly!

:dance3:

Things have come up and unfortunately will not be joining you all. I'm so sad to say that, but I hope you all have a great trip! Happy cruising!
