Looks like the Buckeye State is well represented on this cruise!! :goodvibes Kristie and David (BLESSED04) are right up in my neck of the woods, too!

Here's a little treat to make your mouth water....candy buckeyes! Mmmmm! :stir:

Yum! I am originally from Ohio...but have been here in FL for 28 years! Love me some buckeyes though! Welcome back to the boards...I have been to MNSSHP several times and absolutely LOVE it! It is so much fun. We usually go with a large group from my DH's work and we make a weekend out of it. We all stay at an on-site hotel and have a blast :)

Regular lurker on this thread. 3rd cruise, 1st with Disney and the kids 1st. Absolutely cannot wait for this trip. Nenner1, tried to send you a PM but I don't have 10 posts (lame, I know). Can you add us to the FE list please?

I love scrapbooking too! :) And my youngest, Grace, will be turning 5 two days before we cruise.

Am I the only Hubby that can't wait to see this in person?

You are too funny! We thought about going to Maho Beach a couple years ago when we were in St. Maarten, but decided against it. We were worried it would be too loud for our youngest's ears. Haven't ruled it out this time though!

Welcome Buckeye Gal and SteelerFeever!

I am so excited that we are getting closer and closer to the cruise!

I was checking out the menus from the Maiden Voyage...already seeing what I may want to order at dinner. :rotfl:

Started to think about my FE gifts, but haven't totally decided. I haven't even started looking at magnet designs yet on those threads.

Buckeye Gal - those buckeye chocolates looked YUMMY! I love those things!

Happy Wednesday everyone - I'd better get back to work, so I will have the funds to PAY for my cruise!

Hi everyone!! My name is Brian...Long time cruiser, first time on the Dis Boards. My wife (michigan829) and kids and I have been on 5 Disney cruises. They all have been on the Disney Magic. I know the family is looking forward to the new ship, but I really love the Magic and how it's set up. We live in Michigan and are Huge Wolverines fans. You should be able to spot us by the clothes we will be wearing evey day. lol Plus our Michigan towels at the pools. We have been to Disney World 3 times with the last visit Aug of 2011. Must say the cruises are MUCH better for relaxing. I'm looking forward to this cruise and getting to know all of you.

Hi everyone!

Just wanted to let you all know we have a super busy weekend coming up! I still have not had an opportunity to update the FE info in post one so just a reminder the deadline has been backed up to July 22. :goodvibes

I will fix that as soon as possible, but it probably won't be in the next few days, as we'll be going from 6 AM to 11 PM Fri-Sun at a HUGE dance competition!:faint:

Happy weekend to all!

:) Jen

My niece is dancing all weekend too. I just about ell off my chair when my SIL said that the awards were at 10:30pm on Sunday night...and they have a four hour drive home and school the next day! Yikes!

Was just wondering...I have been reading upon st. Thomas excursions and am a bit underwhelmed. Not sure that we would afford it, but did you ever talk to your friend about the passport situation with her "boat guy" Thomas?

Anyone else have any good ideas for excursions (dcl or on our own) with a four and a seven year old? Many of disneys excursions don't allow kids under 5 and we think that the girls will want to get off the ship. Coral world looks to be about the best option so far, but we have a zoo and aquarium nearby, so don't know if that would be worth it. What is the "legendary kon tiki" that is listed on the dcl excursions now? I don't remember that before when I had looked... :confused3

Have a great weekend! Good luck to your daughter at her competition!

We aren't big fans of excursions. We like to stay on the ship most of the time we are in port. However, we have done The Butterfly Farm in St. Thomas - it's right at the port...5 minute walk. We brought our girls there a couple years ago and had fun. Our oldest, who was 6 or 7 at the time and loves all things bugs and nature, LOVED it. It was VERY hot though.

When we were in St. Maarten a couple years ago, we took a city bus over to Marigot (French side) and wandered around there...it's less touristy and has some cool shopping and cafes. Oh, and we saw a lot of (what I'm assuming were) private yachts anchored in the harbor in Marigot. Talk about huge and expensive!! LOL!

My SIL did a catamaran/snorkeling/beach day thing in St. Maarten (I think) in 2010. We were on the Carnival Dream, though. They really had a blast on that excursion.

I don't care to do beachy stuff when we cruise (except at CC of course). I hope this doesn't sound beach-snobby (if that's even a word), but we live 1/2 hour from the #1 beach (Siesta Key) and can do that whenever, so I prefer to just stay on the ship or wander the shops in port.

My DH is the anti-planner...but I am sure excited for it! We are going to book a tour with Bernard's and we will go there with him as part of the tour. :)

What are you doing with Bernards for the tour? Is there a website for him to check out?

I am so undecided on excursions. I do want to get off the ship in these ports, but not sure to do what.

My friend has a private boat guy from St. John, but it would be pretty pricey for such a short amount of time that we are there, especially since his boat only holds 6 people and we are already a family of 4.

Here is his website...hopefully it passes the board filters. :)

We aren't scheduling a private tour, just going for the average group tour. It's $40 per person, and includes just a little bit of everything, including Maho beach with the airplanes! We haven't booked just yet, we will do it closer to final payment time, but I have talked with him over email a few times and talked about going to a "non-nude" beach since we will have the kids with us. He has been great to communicate with, and if we should get rerouted or not stop at the island, there's no charge for having to cancel.

We are in the same type of situation on St. thomas. NO CLUE WHAT TO DO! I bet we are thinking of the same company there...it looks heavenly, but don't know what we could afford it, and the options for family things are slim. When DH and I travel alone, we never do excusrions and hang out on the boat a lot. We are suspecting that the kids will want to get out and wander a bit.

Jill - thanks for the link. That looks like a great deal for $40 per person and I like the idea of a kid-friendly beach. My kids are a little older than yours, but I still don't think a nude beach would be something I'd want to do!

I will also check out the link he has for St. Thomas....I had a friend just get back from the Eastern on the Magic. They did an island tour of St. John and said it was beautiful. I will have to check that out through Disney as well.

I know we will want to get off the ship for some part of the day at these ports, although I'd also like to enjoy a quieter ship in the pool area as well. So, I'm sure we can find a happy medium. :goodvibes
