Ugh! That stinks! Can you add two dollars to the card? Or can't money be added on? (I've never bought those pre-paid cards, so forgive me if that's a stupid question, lol.)

Whew! Happy to hear you worked out a solution!

I'm pretty sure DME runs 24 hours a day. I *think* the luggage service (where they pick up your luggage and bring it to your room) has limited hours, but it starts pretty early, maybe around 5am. :thumbsup2

Thought I would check in and say hello. Welcome to all the newbies that I have missed.

This week has been very stressful. Sunday a week ago my Grandson had his first car accident in one of our cars. Not major damage thank God but still. Then on Thursday I had an interview for a promotion at work. I hope I get the job but 14 people interviewed for 4 positions. Then to top the week off this pass Sunday I stopped at the grocery store and backed out into a large Ford truck. This guy had backed out just seconds before me and I did not see him so there is another deductable that we will need to pay!! I just want to know what lesson God is trying to teach me so I can learn it and move on!! Enough all ready!

I really need this vacation. On a positive note I made our Dinning ressies for WDW before the cruise. Cannot wait, cannot get here fast enough!!

I bought our plane tickets. I'm not sure that I won't change things around though. I'm worried about DD being away from home for so long. I know she will miss DH, but I'm not sure if she can manage for two weeks. Right now this is what I have:

Tue - arrive @ BWV around 10am - ???
Wed - ???
Thu - ???
Fri - Pirate Adventure for DD / MNSSHP 4pm to midnight
Sat -FANTASY! :cool1:

Sat - (debarkation day) arrive @ AKL around 11am - ???
Sun - ??? / MNSSHP 4pm to midnight
Mon - sleep in, swim / DME to airport around 5pm

I already have a reservation for BWV, so that's a definite. I'm unsure about the extra days at the end though, so I might change that.

**IF** we keep the long trip, we can get a one day park hopper as I originally planned, and hit our favorites at DHS, AK and Epcot on Thursday before the cruise. We could also attend a YES homeschool class on Wednesday, and get longer park hoppers (for almost the same price) so that we could spend more time in the parks.

As usual, my trip is spiraling out of control, LOL. I went from a relaxing four days at BWV, with one park day and one MNSSHP...to looking at an additional three days at AKL, a YES class, and more park time. :faint: :rotfl:

We had plans to stay an extra 3 days after the cruise but cancelled a couple of weeks ago and just doing Magic Kingdom and MAYBE MNSSHP on the Fri before the cruise, saved us a lot of money too!! ;)

Ok... so many of you may know, this is my friend (Phil) and I's first cruise so we are new to all of this!

We are trying to figure out the extras we want to do on the cruise, I've talked to a couple of you already about this but want to get more opinions!

We are considering doing to the parasailing, jet skiing, and swimming with dolphins! What is everyone's take on these things? Also, do you have to schedule and pay to swim with the dolphins like you do for the jet skiing and parasaling? (If so, how much is it?)

Thanks in advance for the help!

We've been parasailing on Castaway Cay and enjoyed it. It's very peaceful floating up there, looking down at the island and into the water.

Never did the other things you've mentioned.

Oldest ds is trying to decide if he wants to parasail at Castaway. If he goes, one of us will have to go too.

Where are you thinking of doing the dolphin excursion? I don't remember seeing that on the list for our ports (but I could be wrong). They do not have that at Castaway Cay. They do have a manta ray encounter at CC and yes, you need to make reservations and there is a fee as well.

If you are doing the dolphin excursion at any port, make the reservation early as those usually sell out quickly. We did this on the Western itinerary in 2010 and it was great, but it is pricey, it was around $100 - $125 per person.

HTH!

Sorry you had such a horrible week. It all seems to happen at once. And thanks for the reminder to make the dining reservations. We're doing one character breakfast- Garden Grill I think because youngest loves Mickey.

Our week so far is this: We found out youngest ds doesn't just have a regular old cleft palate, but that it's caused by deletion of part of his 18th chromosome (18-q syndrome). So that explains all the other issues (developmental delay, hearing loss, hand tremors, etc) Took a lot of persistence with medical establishment on my part, and the advocacy of his plastic surgeon to get things done. So again I want to say I love his plastic surgeon.

Still no surgery for his palate scheduled, and just letting all my old friends from that 2008 double dip know-- I won't let them schedule him anytime near this cruise-- not like that kidney surgery fiasco where we were in the hospital with an infection three days before we were scheduled to go.

We are pretty much set on parsailing for sure! Very excited about that! Thanks for the info!!

So sorry to hear of the trouble you've been having! I had two deductible charges in the last 60 days but luckily I have a great BIL that knows people and hooked me up with a repair shop that not only did a terrific job but only charged me a little over half of one deductible! I was very lucky!!

I hope things settle down a little and you can enjoy the summer before our fantastic cruise!!

The funny thing is my first thought was this was sounding very familiar!! As far as persistence, I would think they all know you by now and would know to give up right away!! :lmao: I am glad that you found a surgeon that makes you comfortable and gives you confidence. Hope everything works out (and well before our scheduled departure date!!!).

So dolphins - most places offer two types of excursions - encounter and swimming. I've only done the encounter but loved every minute of it. I actually booked the encounter on my own (it was in Cozumel) but they've made it more difficult to do that now. The swimming is obviously more expensive so it depends on how much you want to do. Good luck with your decision.

You'd think that, wouldn't you, but no. Maybe they think I need the drama to keep me busy or something, when really, it interferes with my vacation planning.

Ohh that is pricey to swim with the dolphins, thanks for the info.

It is pricey, but it was our favorite thing on our last cruise! We went in Grand Cayman and was able to use our own camera (Kodak Playsport) while we were in the water and I got great videos of my family with the dolphins. I absolutely love dolphins, and one of these days I will make my way to Discovery Cove to spend a whole day with them!

I will more than likely just get off the ship and walk around the dock and do some shopping and have lunch.still thinking about spending some time at the beach

We're doing a tour on St Thomas with Godfrey's tours. Don't know if my sister and brother-in-law are in, but if anyone's interested, let me know and we'll add you on. Here's his website: http://godfreytoursvi.com/

His company gets good reviews on cruise critic and trip advisor.

For St. Maarten, since we rented a car and did a nice day on the island last time, I think we'll just visit the mall there, hang out around the ship, and ride the Aquaduck. St. Maarten seems somewhat more expensive than St. Thomas.

Have to say, I've been neglecting my planning for this trip because we're doing the Panama Canal in December, but seeing pictures of the Fantasy, getting so much more excited. Also- it's hard because this will be our first trip without oldest dd who will be away at college.

Thanks to grandma4ever I did make my one dining ressie for Garden Grill on the Thursday before the cruise.

I will add you to the list and if plans changed let me know and I will correct it. As we get closer we can use the list to assist in making plans to get together the night before maybe to share a meal or just to sit by the pool and relax.
