September 22, 2012 Fantasy Eastern "From Fantasyland to the Fantasy"

So I feel as though I have missed something here. Are the verandahs on deck 6 bad? We are on deck 6, but I dont want to regret spending the money. I would rather move up to deck 7 if need be. Any tips on this?

Great, I'm on deck 5. I saw my staterooms when it was pulling out of the yard and I noticed a small lifeboat and a crane right underneath me:scared1:

While I haven't been on the Dream, from the photos and what people have noted in the stateroom reports, deck 6 is right above the lifeboats. So, if you look straight down, the boat is below you (if you are midship). If you are further back, the boats aren't there (I believe).

We like to stay midship for less movement of the ship. I saw a thread with photos of Deck 6 verandah rooms and then Deck 7. I decided to price out the Deck 7 rooms (5C versus 5D) and the price difference was very small, and the views (to me) are a little better, so I made the change.

When we moved back to this date, I think we got the only 5D that was left on the ship. After DU moved us, I went on to see if there were other rooms in 5D available, but it wasn't even listed as an available category! I guess our cruise is getting busier and busier!

Plus, with the additional decks on the Fantasy, 7 will be one less set of stairs for us to get to the pool deck. :thumbsup2 I know we will then have MORE to get down to dinner and whatnot, but it's all good. It was just a decision I made after seeing the reports and some photos. I will try to find the thread with the photos and link it here.

ETA: here is a different thread that shows the outside of the ship and the room #s. It's not the one I was looking for, but this should help.

Nenner (or anyone else with an opinion!)...
We are about 80% sure we are all in for this cruise, but Stella have to wait for the tax return to make sure. ;). We will know in a month or so for sure. Do you think I should hold off on signing up until we are certain? Or go ahead and put our name on the list? I will be devastated if we can not go, but I started a new job last year after being at home as a mom For several years, and we just don't know how that will impact our normal refund, which we use for car and home insurance payments. If the refund doesn't cover it...the cruise money has to.:sad2:

There is no rush to sign up. :) I'd just wait until you know for sure. Good luck! :goodvibes We are hoping for our regular refund as well since there were a couple of changes to our mortgage interest which is usually a bulk of our deductions. Fingers crossed!!! :cool2:

I agree with Ron - there is plenty of time to the cutoff for the FE, and you will be certain about the cruise long before then.

Hope it all works out!

Thank you so much for the information! I think we are going to keep what we have because I believe I read that unless you look down, you really wont see the lifeboats. Its our first balcony, so I think I'll just be so excited that I wont care this time. I'll just keep it in mind for our next trip! :rolleyes1 Thanks again!

Yes, from what I've read/seen in photos, they are really only noticeable if you look straight down.

You will LOVE your balcony. We had one our first cruise and now I can't imagine cruising without it! I am always the first one up, so I head out there to watch the scenery, whether we are on a sea day or pulling into a port. We like to enjoy a cocktail and cheese platter while getting ready for the show, and DH likes to just nap out there. That is also where you will find me at night while checking out the Navigator for the next day.

I just love the extra room, especially when we are all getting ready for dinner. And watching the water, the sound of the waves.....:upsidedow

Wish I was there now as we have some COLD weather here in CT and are expecting about 6 - 8" of snow tomorrow! :scared1:

Mother: Jackie, Grenada MS
Sister: Jennifer, Madison AL
Sister's husband: David, Madison AL
Their kids: Kate(15),Jackson(12), Grey(10), Eli(8) [ages during trip]
Staterooms: 9082, 9084, 9086

I'm so excited. I've been reading all I can find. My BiL will probably be joining this thread soon. We haven't decided about FE just yet. I'm already planning a gift from Shirley for the kids.

WELCOME!!! :dance3:

Congrats on your first cruise, but beware....YOU WILL BE ADDICTED!

You can find out a lot on the boards, but if you also want a book, I would suggest the Passporter. I don't know if their latest one has a lot on the Dream (assuming the Fantasy is pretty similar), but you can get a feel for how it all "works" on the cruise from their books.

I have gotten the PassPorter book. I went to B&N and looked at books, and theirs looked amazing. I can't wait. I also downloaded a countdown app to my phone. I'm looking forward to a great experience!!

Hey everyone! I've updated post one a little bit. Since the Fantasy's construction is basically completed I've changed out the construction photo with a photo from the float-out celebration. Check it out! It's starting to seem real.:cool2:

So has anyone here ever stayed at the Ron Jon Resort near the port?

We are finally starting to put together some plans our cruise vacation. :cool1:

We've been tossing around the idea of staying at the Ron Jon Resort as opposed to the usual Country Inn and Suites. We can actually get this place for just a few more bucks than CI&S using Travelocity or Expedia. Looks wonderful! :beach: Anyone have any thoughts or experiences?

I am in renovation mode....DH and I have been removing the wallpaper from our bedroom all weekend. We are ALMOST done, but then so much more to do. Fix all the holes in the wall, wash them, prep for painting and then paint. Oy. I am just trying to envision the end result to make it all worth it!

Next on the list is doing the same wallpaper removal to our living room/hall/entry...that is a MUCH bigger job, but it will save us lots of money to do it ourselves.

We have been in this house for 13 1/2 years and while the wallpaper isn't horrible, its just not us and I'm in the mood for something NEW!

It also helps pass the time until we sail. :rotfl2:

Looking forward to checking out the updates in Post One...but have to get back to work before DH realizes I am on here!

??? When I go to Southwest it still shows that their booking is only open through August 10th. I've been checking almost every day to try to get a hopefully good deal.

okay, the front page states through August 10th but when I plug in the dates it lets me book the trip down and it states they are now accepting through September 28th!
