September 22, 2012 Fantasy Eastern "From Fantasyland to the Fantasy"

I've looked into the Hyatt as an option. I've even called their concierge service to get details.

They handle your bags for you and make sure they get to Disney for transport to the cruise and you don't see your bags again until you get to your cabin. Thus, you don't have to haul them around.

The rooms were about $170/night when I checked. If you have any frequent flier miles, that might be an option for you to keep cost down.

We are staying at a WDW Resort beforehand and Disney Cruise is providing us w/transportation for $35/pp but I think it's free form the airport.

Transportation on Magical Express from MCO to a WDW resort is free, but the DCL bus from MCO is still $35 per person, just like the DCL bus from a resort.

The rooms are about $170, but the convenience is great. I don't want to chance flying in the day of the cruise, and we usually arrive later on the night before, so we don't have to get a shuttle/taxi to another hotel, just stay right at MCO. We have used a car service on our past cruises, it's cheaper for a family of 4 than the DCL bus, and we can make a stop for adult beverages on the way to port!

Hello everyone,

Well I (we've) have had a wonderful week so far:sad2: Sunday my mother landed in the hospital for a small blood clot by her knee. She's going to be in the hospital till at least the end of the week, then she might have to go to rehab for a while:sick: Yesterday my father was on his way to visit my mother at the hospital, he was stopping for a red light but the car behind him didn't stop. Yep, right in the back of his Blazer. Last night his lower back started to hurt and he was getting numbness in his legs. So off to ER again. He's going to be fine just a back strain. His Blazer could have been a lot worse I guess, it got the tail light, bumper, little bit of the tailgate and the 1/4 panel.

Better this happens now instead of a week before our cruise:laughing:

So sorry to hear about this - hope your mom and dad are better soon!

Joining the crew here! We purchased our cruise a few weeks ago.

We are traveling with 2 groups of our friends and this is the first cruise for all of us involved. Roll call is just for my family though.

Welcome Scott and Robert! :dance3:

Our last cruise was in 2010 as well, and I can't wait to check out the new ship!

Have to apologize for being so inactive. This will be our first cruise without oldest dd-- and while she's still at home I feel really bad about being planning for it/ being enthusiastic about it. Maybe once we pack her off to college I'll be more excited. :lmao:

I have to read through the thread and try to figure out what's going on.

Anyone going to be in Disney before the cruise? Right now, we're planning to arrive on Wednesday prior, though the kids don't know. Hopefully there will be a MNSSHP we can attend.

Paul I hope everyone recovers. Life can be stressful at times.

This maybe your 1st Disney Cruise but I would bet it will not be your last. Welcome to the crew! Looking forward to meeting you and planning the cruse between now and September.

Based on previous years' schedules, there should be a party on Friday, the night before the cruise. There should also be one on Tuesday, but that's before you arrive, so most likely Friday will be your only option. We will probably be attending the same party! :cool1:

If you're staying at a WDW resort, you can take Magical Express to your resort at no cost, but if you're staying at the Hyatt, you'd have to arrange other transportation, on your own...town car, rental car, taxi, etc.

Personally, if I was planning to attend the party, I'd just spend the night at a WDW resort. ;)

Last year tickets for September parties were around $57 for adults, and $51 for kids, if purchased in advance. The prices were higher for same-day ticket purchases, but I don't know the exact cost (I'm thinking it was around $10 more per ticket).

Thanks. :thumbsup2 The pre Disney trip is a surprise for the kids, especially the party.

It's been impossible talking about the cruise around the house, because oldest dd isn't going. I feel like we're teasing her with it.

My son will be attending college this April so this is the first time for him not to go on our Disney Cruise as well. I too, feel awkward talking about it at home and getting real excited about it in front of him. Though, I did promise him we would take him back on the ship when he graduates so that seems to make him really happy. Only sticking point is he wants to travel in the Royal Suite. :rotfl: So, I told him I want to see FANTASTIC grades and we will think about it:)

:lmao:

I told her if she was paying for the royal suite, she and I could share it. Hopefully she'll be able to join us on the TA in May. She'll be cruising with the Navy next summer, and hopefully that cruise won't interfere with our Disney cruise.

This really kind of stinks- we cruised in Oct. last time and LOVED doing MNSSHP on Thursday before the cruise- it was perfect- close enough to the cruise but we still had all day Friday to recuperate. Staying up that late on the eve of the cruise just seems like too much for us, and Tuesday is so far removed. I know we won't know for sure until they release the dates but I don't expect them to deviate from the past patterns....so if Thursday is out now I'm not sure if we will do it at all. And that is really disappointing since we loved MNSSHP so much!:sad2:

It's such a bummer also in that we were foregoing our normal Spring trips to WDW this year to wait and see all of the new changes to Fantasyland at MNSSHP. Now there we may have to totally rethink our plans all around. (Not the cruise- not rethinking THAT! LOL!) :goodvibes:rotfl2: In fact we should be paying it off this week sometime! Woo hoo!

They still have Thursday parties in October, just not in September...unless it changes this year. It has been Tuesday and Friday in September, and then they add in the last Sunday of the month (which should be the day after our cruise...I did consider doing the party after, and coming home on Monday evening). Thursday parties show up on the calendar that first week in October, IIRC.
