September 22, 2007 -- WESTERN

I forgot to add that the wristbands are $1.50 each.
I have them gathered up in DisBoard names with the # of ordered and the price. They are all bagged up ,put in a box and ready for the cruise.
Dang... Im too organized:rotfl2: Next... putting my CD's in alphabetical order:lmao:

Morning all! Another day closer to cruisin'!!! :woohoo:  :woohoo:

And Ann, you must be getting REAL excited with your back-to-backs coming up in 3 weeks!!! :goodvibes

Eva, hope you and Steve had a lovely evening - we'll toast your anniversary onboard... :drinking:

This stupid headcold/cough has really persisted but last night I slept a little better and I didn't feel quite so bad when I woke up this morning so fingers crossed it's on the way out! I think I probably picked up a bug on the plane home from Spain and, as my immune system's a little compromised due to the drugs I'm taking, it's really gotten hold... :sad2:

Good morning all.

Karen hope that you get well soon. We are all looking forward to seeing one another and having a great cruise together. Mike

...Karen hope that you get well soon...

Thanks Mike! :thumbsup2 I definitely (touch wood as I don't want to jinx it) feel a little better today so that's all good. :goodvibes

I've actually spent my enforced downtime quite productively. I've been sitting on the sofa writing a Pre-Trip report for our upcoming cruise so, after I've shown the finished article to DH this evening, I shall post on the TR forum! This is a first for me and I'm more than a little nervous but it seemed like a good idea at the time...

Morning all.

Just checked. No upgrade or room assignments.

Hey. I need something to do at work. :confused3

Hope everyone has a good day!!!!:cloud9: popcorn:: :cloud9:

We should be starting the document watch here in a couple of weeks.

Yeah I am getting very excited. There is a big list of things to get done before the cruises. Since we wil be gone a total of 24 days, some things have
to get done. Trim trees and the flower pots, then clean all the rooms. Could you image 3 weeks worth of dust?:scared1:
For some down time ... Im working on my scrapbooks from the Panama Canal Repo in 2005! I think I'll bring a small boook with me, if anyone would like to see it. We had a blast.

It's pretty painless. You can order things directly from DCL. Here is the link to check out what they have to offer:

http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/dcl/en_US/myCruise/giftsLanding?name=AmenitiesAndGiftsLandingPage

There is a 1-800 number provided to call and order what you like. Just have the item number ready and a credit card. They do charge you now. I asked them how far in advance to call and they suggested about 30 days out. I called at 45 days. But you could actually call up to a few days out. But they said at 30 days they still have enough time to order items if they are low.

You can also order baskets from The Perfect Gift. But I have never done that. The Perfect Gift is owned by a woman named Shirely who is a regular on the cruise board. Her staff can design a custom gift basket for you. If you are interested, you will need to ask on the cruise board about it. I don't have the website anymore. Maybe someone else here does.

Hope that helps!

Thanks so much Eva for your tips. I think the Celebration Basket would be great.

For Everyone: I know that you all have chatted about cruise attire for dinners but I just was wondering if my husband can get away with just wearing Dockers slacks, blazer and a nice polo shirt underneath if that is enough or is a tie really needed? Also, we have dinner reservations for Palos Saturday night after the Sail Away party. If we have late dinner seating in general is that the time that they will have us scheduled for Palos as well?
Another issue is not having an iron in the stateroom; just wondered if anyone had any problems with using the iron they say is in the laundry rooms? We try to cram as much as we can in a suitcase so things can get a little rumpled looking, any tips? Anyone ever done laundry on the ship? Thanks for any tips you can give. If I can't get access to an iron I will be the one in the wrinkled black and white skirt  Maybe I'll just hang the skirt out on the verandah to see if the moist sea breeze flattens it out :rotfl2: Um, I guess I probably shouldn't do that; it might look like a pirate flag pirate: (black and white skirt)

Blazer, shirt and dockers would be fine. Just make sure that he washes his feet, before entering the dining room if he is not wearing socks and shoes:rotfl2: Iron in laundry room works great, although don't wait until the evening of the formal dinner. Mike

The ship also has a cleaning service. And it cheaper then a regular dry cleaners! Im sending almost everything to them. I believe that the total bill on our last cruise was under $ 30.oo , that was for 14 days. And doing my own "other" clothes.
Laundry rooms are room #2096 # 6588 and #7590. The 6588 is the only one Ive been to since it the closest one to my room. Bring quarters... and lots of them.

Morning!
I've completed my pre-trip report and dutifully posted it - there's a link on my sig should anyone wish to take a look...

And, after that shameless self-promotion, I wish you all an excellent Thursday... :grouphug:

I think you should be able to find out your Palo ressie time if you log onto the DCL and pull up your cruise reservation... :thumbsup2

Your DH should be fine. To give you an idea, Steve will wear Dockers and a polo without a jacket for dinner most nights. For formal night, semi-formal night, and Palo he will wear a suit and tie.

When you make a reservation at Palo you have to choose a time. You may not have made a choice and they just took a default time. If you go and retrieve your reservation on line, you should be able to see the time.

For wrinkled clothes, I'm right there with Bareacuda. The first night I am going to send out what ever needs pressing and let DCL take care of that. They will do your laundry too. The prices are quite reasonable. But if you want to do it yourself, there are a few laundry rooms spread throughout the ship. On our first cruise I didn't know about sending items out and waited around each day to use the iron in the laundry room. I haven't done any laundry while on the cruise. I do wash a few things out by hand. For shorts, t-shirts and such I use that Downey Wrinkle Releaser. It works pretty well for casual clothes.

Thanks for all the congratulations on our 25th. We had a great night. And Steve agreed to take the whole family to WDW in May of 2008, instead of 2009. Now I am just waiting to hear back from my DD's to confirm they can go. I hope that we can get the rooms we want, since we are well pass the 11 month window for DVC. I may have to make reservations for what is open and waitlist for what we want.

Karen, just to let you know, here is our plan:

May 3-8: GV at AKV
May 8-11: Beach Cottage at Vero
May 11-14: 1-bedroom at OKW (just Steve and I)

I'm so excited. We will be taking both DD's, their boyfriends, DGD (2.5), and DGS (5).

Oooh sounds fab! :goodvibes Fingers crossed you get those rooms, Eva! :thumbsup2

Hope that you get your rooms Eva.

Another hot one here in Nashville today. Right now it is 102°F going to 106° again today. 9 out of 10 days this month it has been 100 or higher. Mike

Ok... the past 2 days alot of up grades have been passed out on the Sept 8th cruise!!! some cat 12 to 8's and 6 to 4's. Me ... we were by-passed... I dont think anyone wanted to give up Walt's room for 3 weeks!:lmao:
And all the flight plans are in also. That gives all of us some hope:thumbsup2 for the all wished for "Up-Grade"

Sorry the heat is nasty in Tn.Mike. It's still dragging on here too!:scared1:

Oh yea, socks AND shoes, good idea Mike. My DH is not a tie kinda guy, thick neck you know, and if he can get away with out it he will want to for sure. As far as the iron goes I can just picture a line out the door of the laundry room with people holding wrinkled clothing just waiting for their turn at the ironing board. Thanks for the tip.

Wow Karen, I just read your pre-trip report! Did I miss something; are you a writer by trade? If not, you should be. Made me want to book another cruise and we haven't gone on this one yes. :rotfl: Sounds like you and your DH are going to have a wonderful time and congrats on your 25th!

Thanks for the directions to the DLC site:
Found out our Palo ressie is @ 7:30pm first night out.

Thanks for the tip on the dry cleaning; I will probably be utilizing that service for sure as this will leave more time for important things like lounging in a deck chair with a large Bahama Mama in my hand. :)
