September 22, 2007 -- WESTERN

Hey gang... just thought I'd check in again and see if there's any more cruisers for this voyage coming from the great white north (you betcha!)

We'd love to communicate with you prior to going so our DD4 knows some kids for the club experience!

Give us a shout!

Ben, Jenny and Lily

Well if Ann has them then they have to be cool!!! :cool1:

I am trying to get my party of 9 to all where them upon boarding.
Will make us easy to spot  if it was not easy enough already. ;)

Hi everyone

My name is Kimberly and I am new to the Dis, but have been crazy about Disney for a long time. I too will be cruising on the Magic this September 22nd. This is my first cruise ever and I will be traveling solo!. I have already booked a dinner at Palo, spa pedicure, and my shore excursions. I sure hope I get a chance to meet some of you on the ship.

Welcome Tickledtink33. You hang around here and you'll meet everyone!

Sounds like you have the entire cruise planned out.:thumbsup2 So what do you have planned?
Brady961 (Marsha, keeper of the roster) will be asking a few questions for our group. If you find her posts, check out the bottom.. somewhere there is a link to our group. There you can see what we are all doing on excurtions and other activities.

Cant wait to meet everyone!

Ann :yay:

We have a couple of Meets already planned. On the first day (Saturday) we are meeting at the Mickey Pool on the Starboard side at 3:00. This will give us chance to put faces to names and have a quick drink and group picture. A number of us are also meeting at the Margarita Tasting on Monday. Hope to see you there!

OK, Only 66 Days!!!!!

Hrmmmm :confused3

I am not seeing the HUGE:yay: response of...

"Those shirts are GREAT!!!!! I think we all should wear them. This way there will be 100 people in the terminal matching" :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

Oh well.:confused3 At least I will be easy to spot. :lmao: :lmao:

FatCat, You crack me up! :rotfl2: There is no way I could get Steve to wear a shirt like that, especailly if 100 other people will have it on at the same time! I can barely get him to wear our DVC polos at the same time. He'll wear them on vacation, but definitely not here at home. Now if it were late in the afternoon and he already had 3 or 4 drinks in him.................... What am I talking about?! You couldn't get me to wear that dress with 100 other women wearing it either! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Eva,

Well when you meet me in person you will learn that I enjoy

Attracting Attention to Myself

Do not worry. I am harmless. :rolleyes1

My wife thought it was a phase.

I also use it as a defensive mechanism.:thumbsup2 We live in a neighborhood with all the houses very close  to each other and it is all young families. The more the gossip is directed toward me the less they are focusing on my parenting skills.

Yes, but are you a Spa Virgin?

So where are all these people coming from? I thought that we were going to have the run of the ship, but it sounds like there are more than our little group going... Has someone been talking?

We need more cruisers :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: to build up the Jackpot for Bingo for me to win on the last day.

Yes there is more of us:banana:

We are 3 as well. Our DD is 11 years old. We are flying out of Toronto on the friday morning. Renting a car in Orlando and going to the Magic Kingdom on the friday night. Disney has put us up in the Hyatt in Orlando airport. So we catch the Disney shuttle to port saturday morning.
Good to see were up to 6 Canadians now.

They are kind of crawling out of the wood work, aren't they? But remember, the more crazy people, the merrier.

Yes I am a spa virgin. I'm starting off gently with a pedicure. I really want my feet to look cute for Castaway Cay ha ha. This November I'm going to try the hot stone massage at SSR spa.

In my earlier post I mentioned that I had already booked my shore excursions and Bareacuda had asked which ones I had planned. In Key West I opted for the glass bottom boat ride, Rum Point Beach in Grand Cayman, and Mayan horseback riding on Cozumel. Wow, this cruise is getting more and more expensive and I'm not even on the ship yet! That's okay, vacations are for spoiling ourselves.

I read on the posted ships navigators that there is some kind of wine tasting? I would like to do that too.

Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Welcome aboard to all of our new cruisers. Marsha is in Philadelphia this week and did not take her laptop.

It was hot as hades here in Orlando today. 105 F heat index. Mike

Hey look what I found!!!! :thumbsup2

These shirts are very rare and extremely valuable. ;) If you wear one you belong to an elite group.pirate: Several famous people and world leaders have been spotted in this traditional pattern. :worship:

Now how much fun would it be to all be in a group :grouphug: with the same shirt and order drinks from a waiter.:hyper2: We can then all switch places and see if we get the right drink.:coffee:

Or we can congregate as a group in terminal. Each time there is a shirt spotting we can do a little cheer. :cheer2: :cheer2:

Or when someone arrives in the terminal with a shirt on surround them and start taking pictures and asking for autographs. It will be your 90 seconds of fame.

Or.....

Hi All,

It's been a while since I have posted, but I have been trying to catch up on reading all of your posts once a week or so. My father passed away 4 weeks ago and just making it through each day at work and home has been a bit of a struggle.

Anyway, catching up on everything on this thread tonight has made me giggle. Fatcat - Not only does my DH have the shirt, so do both of my DSs and I have the dress. They were $12.99 with free shipping - of course I bought them.

I haven't been much into planning over the last few weeks, but I'm starting to feel like I really need to make some decisions regarding shore excursions. Suggestions are welcome.

Since I've only posted a couple of times and it's been months, here are our details again:

DH - 49
Me - 44
DS - 5
DS - 4

This is our 4th Disney Cruise, but our first 7 night. Here is my wish list for excursions:

Key West - I think we will just walk around on our own or maybe do the train or trolley. Any other suggestions?

Grand Cayman - I want to see the turtle farm and spend a couple of hours at a nice beach. My kids are afraid of stingrays and aren't extremely comfortable in the water, so I think we will skip Stingray City this year. Should we do the Island Tour through DCL then go to Seagrapes beach on our own?

Cozumel - I cannot make a decision!:confused3 I would love to go to Xcaret, but the ferry ride scares me. I'm not sure how my boys would handle it. I'm thought about the beach day through DCL, but have read some negative reviews on Playa Mia. I have also thougth about Chankanaab, but I don't know if the Dolphin Discovery is really worth it to us. We live in San Antonio and have had season passes to Sea World in previous years, so we have had an up close experience with Dolphins, just not in the water with them. Is Chankanaab worth while if you aren't doing the Dolphin swim or discovery? If so, should we just book as spectators through DCL or take a taxi to Chankanaab and pay the entrance fee? Also, I have read about various other beaches on Cozumel that would be good for a family day. Any ideas on which one would have the most to offer for a 4 and 5 year old?

One last thing, I think the 90 day mark came at the point where my dad was really sick or something because I missed my opportunity to book a Palo brunch. Is there any chance of booking it on board?

Sorry this is sooooo long. I have been saving it all up.

TIA for any suggestions offered. I look forward to meeting you all.

-Kristi

Kristi (Disjest8)...So sorry to hear about your loss. The Palo brunch...you should be able to book that once your on the ship. If your not able to actually set a time you'll be able to at least get on a wait list...In our experiences with brunch at Palo...I really can't ever remember it being packed full either time...so I'd think your chances are good.

Bbaltes.....I see your searching for a fellow cruiser in your area who has children close to your childs age....to 'get to know' before hand. I just wanted to say that you don't have to limit your seach to only those in your area. Before our very first cruise we met up with a couple familes who had kids close to our daughters age via the dis board  and ended up having our girls e-mail back and forth along with swapping photos for a few weeks before hand. Oh...almost forgot....we of course live in Washington State and the families that we met lived across the US. Long story short....once we arrived to the terminal our daughter could not wait to finally meet her "NEW cruise buddy" in person....and searched the terminal from the moment we walked in. Anyways...it didn't take her long to spot her friend (thanks to the photo swap) And I'm happy to say that we are now getting very close to going on our THIRD Disney cruise with BOTH of those familes that we met before the first cruise here on the Dis  Anyways....I'm just saying...just see who else here has kids close to your childs age...and see about doing the pin-pal thing with them. Oh..I should also say that making the friendship before the cruise DID in fact help out a GREAT deal with the kids club. Neither one of the girls wanted to leave if the other one was there.;)

Tickledtink....WELCOME to the cruise. Sounds like you have all your ducks in a row   And by the look of all your count downs...your going to be a busy busy person in the near future.

Papa and Marsha...Glad to hear your dinner went so well. Sounds like you'll be having a great time at dinner on the ship.

Breaker1967....Welcome aboard :goodvibes

OMG.....I can't even begin to tell you the troubles I've had with the Disney Cruise web site. EVERY SINGLE time I've gotten on there to try and book, look at or change something....I've ran into problems. EVERY TIME!!! They need to seriously fix their problems.

Kathy....sounds like Anthony's team has done well over all...even if they didn't get the championship. It also sounds like they have games ALOT. I can never get over how busy you seem during sports season. OH...and BTW...your drink does sound yucky:eek: I guess it'll have to be one of those that you try and see. Everything sounded good up until adding the BEER:goodvibes

Mixology 101...sound good :thumbsup2 I'm sure we could get Kadiar to lend a hand. I still remember on the second cruise when he saw us and called out "MY FAMILY"...and gave us all big hugs. Did you happen to see the newest DCL thing on the travel station??? He's on it   We can't wait to tell him we saw him on tv.

Oooo...I almost forgot. I went trip shopping this past weekend....had a blast and totally shopped till I dropped. :goodvibes I don't know that I really got what I needed...but I had fun ;) Now I need to really sit down and figure out what's needed, what's not and what I "REALLY" need to pack.

We're off to Seattle Childrens Hospital again tomarrow....for a follow-up from Sydney's surgery a few weeks back then to her research study apt....so we've got a BUSY BUSY day ahead of us. Which reminds me...I've GOT to go get our stuff together....:thumbsup2
