September 22, 2007 -- WESTERN

Karen, gosh when I said that I was finding all kinds of pirates costumes at good prices, I was actually looking for me. Now that I have gone out looking for DH it is a bit tougher than I thought. I'm having a time finding a good looking Captain Jack costume that is in stock and in a decent price range. He may have to go as a swashbuckler. Will Turner is a good idea. I'm not sure if you will find a costume. You may have to piece it together.

I know that I am a planner. But there are many of the afflicted on this thread also. Anybody started thinking about a meet or two on the ship yet?

Oh goddesses of the list, :worship: :worship: ;) Can you help us with this illness? :rotfl2:

you talking to me? you talking to me? :wave2:

or the true goddess of this thread scrapperjill? :)

For sure i hope we can meet for a few minutes prior to the sail away party. just long enough to put some faces with names.

we will probably meet some of us in the terminal prior to boarding as I know I did last time. Just look for that lime green anywhere ;)

Maybe let's try asking what others would like to have as a get together?

I would love to see us at least meet somewhere for a bite to eat, drink etc... to celebrate all the birthdays and anniversaries going. Maybe one of the Sea days we can plan on breakfast or lunch, or by the pool for a drink, etc...

If there is a group that want to see any of the shows together that's another option of getting some together.

Another idea is planning on getting a group pic which we could do if all come together to celebrate. And when I say celebrate I don't mean like hours, long enough to get everyone there, give a cheer, toast, group pic etc...

I know everyone is going to have their own agenda, and rightly so. It's your vacation.

Anyone that is linking for dinner, if you could get a group pic to share that would be great too.

Oh there other place to have a brief celebration would be on CC around lunch, ppl get their food/drinks and meet around the picnic tables. :beach:

Try picking out the Disser's in the terminal prior to boarding.
A brief pre sail away say hi time and put names with faces.
Lunch together to celebrate onboard or at CC.
There are several kids having birthdays so we want to make sure to overly celebrate them !!!!pixiedust: If so maybe then have this around the pool.

Does anyone want to have a time to celebrate the kids and with the kids, and also have a time for the adults to celebrate together?

I don't want to plan that many get togethers again cause everyone will be on their own schedule, and vacation.

But definitely hope we can have a couple times we or as many as possible get together. Get some pics then return showing off how much fun we had :rotfl:

So the options are open........ start identifying what you would like to do as a group of Dissers. :grouphug:

Mike,
Do you know where Dickson Tennessee is? In the early-mid sixties we had a farm in Dickson off Yellow Creek Rd. My father drove into Nashville for his job everyday. I loved that farm as a kid. One winter we found a cow that had given birth but the mother died. It was a time we had deep snow. I raised the calf on a bottle, named him Frisky Black Cap. I think he thought he was one of my dogs as he would follow me around the farm like my dogs. Then I think he thought he was a pony/horse as i could ride him bare back like I did my pony/horses.

One large hill we called Bald Hill, had perfectly round rocks on it. Had a log cabin beside the main house. The creek you drove thru no bridge.

We moved in the mid sixties and last time I heard anything about the farm was it had been bought by a church or similar and was a working boys ranch or something like that.

The house I doubt is still there but it was way cool esp for a kid. Secret panels to walk between walls into different rooms. Great for hiding seek with kids that didn't know about those LOL.

Boy the memories and stories of living in that house and on that farm. Maybe one day I will get up there to see what it is these days. Wonder if still a farm or has been turned into a single living subdivision housing.

anyway just curious is you know where Dickson is. Oh and we use to go over to Butcher's hollar. I still have a painting of Loretta Lynn's water mill house that i treasure. Just a pretty painting of the mill etc...

Ok I turn this thread back over to it's original intent :happytv:

I like all the ideas. I'm not sure if we will make lunch on CC because DH and I have planned to be at Serenity Bay that day. We may ride the tram over for a few minutes, but I have my heart set on eating at Serenity Bay. Even though we have always traveled with adults we have never made it over there.

We should be at the terminal when they open. We are driving and plan to be there early. I will make sure that I wear something lime green and look around for the color myself. It would be nice to have someone to visit with while we wait. A drink right before the Sail Away Party sounds good too. And lunch one day would probably work for us too. That would be the one that may interfere with a spa reservation or etc.

Like you said, I think that we should let everyone who is interested in meeting give their suggestions and I guess the majority rules.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes! We are really trying to figure out what excursions to do with a 2 year old in tow! Any suggestions would be appreciated! We are in rooms 8548 and 8546 and main dining.

Eva, that's fine about CC. As time gets closer we can find more what others want to do, when and where. There are many other options than CC.

I plan to arrive early as well. So will be looking out for other Disers there before boarding. That's fun to, trying to find other Diser's <G>

Yeppers, so let's her from other what if anything you would like to do as a group. And if some don't want to that is fine too. remember its a VACATION!!!!

Jamie, I will update the list with room and dining. Since I have no kids, well except for Pal Mickey and Minnie, sorry can't help with ideas for excursions with a toddler. Good luck.

Jamie, main dining is that early or late? early being 6ish to 630 or so. late being 8ish to 830p?

I bet I can work on some kind of group pic for all of us:crowded: . Perhaps one of the sea days, around lunch together.

I have a friend that makes banners for the art guilds in town, perhaps he'll make me something for this cruise at a reasonable cost.

I have no idea where I put my DH and DSIL... all I know now is that they are doing the Eastern (15-22). So Marsha, I may have totally confused you... and myself!:lmao:

:faint:

Confused????:confused3 Me never :rotfl2: I think I live in the state of confusion. :rotfl:

ok you are in charge the goddess of getting the group pic :cool1:

Appreciate you volunteering to take on this massive adventure :flower3:

By the way I have updated the website with some possibly gatherings on Get togethers page.

Ok... I'll take that on!:scratchin
If I dont have things set in stone before I leave for my first cruise... I'll post something on everyones cabin door before you all arrive!:thumbsup2

Just to step in and give my thoughts on meets and photos.... I think we should plan on meeting on the ship around 3:00 or 3:30 (late enough that everyone should be onboard but early enough to avoid the getting ready for dinner thing)...and go until we have to leave for the boat drill. That'll give us a breif period to meet, say hi, and put a face to a name. We also won't have to compete with the Sail-a-way party music and noise. We could do some place like by the Mickey pool (so the kids will be entertained) or near a bar so we can be entertained...lol just kidding...really so we can get a drink;) Of course we can always get a drink at the Mickey pool and combine both those ideas.:thumbsup2

Now for a photo...I like the idea. I've seen quite a few dis meet photos her on the boards..and they always look cool. But I've also heard they are hard to arrange.... That being said....I don't know that lunch time would be the "best" time to schedule it. I know by that time of the day my girls are wanting to go, go, go...and do their thing. So I know for us that time would be VERY hard to get and keep everyone together long enough. PLUS....We just seem to always be fairly busy on sea days during that time in general. I'd say....closer to dinner time. Sometime before main seating. I would think that time would give those who have early dinning time to do the photo before thier dinner...and for those of us with late dinning...we could pop in for it before out show or before we go and get ready for dinner ourselfs.

Now...for where to do the photos. What would you all think about on the stairs outside between deck 9 and 10 near the Mickey pool? Now Marsha...I haven't forgotten about you....because you could be right their at the top of the stairs on deck 10..with the rest of everyone else flowing down the stairs. I'd say in the atrium..but depending on the time of day...that area can be very busy. Oh..another "stair" area that would/could be cool is the stairs near Shutters....We could use those as risers..for those of us who are height challenged..

Now...back the dis meet. I know...I jump back and forth alot. It only gets worse in person...so your all warned. Anyways...I think we should for sure plan a meet for the first day on the ship. Then more if we want...but at least the first one on the first day. Simpely because I know after being on the ship for any lenght of time....things get forgotten...BUT on day one alot of things are fresh in our mind. We all have the day one..things to do list somewhere in our brain...(arrive to the terminal early, board as soon as possible, have luch, check out the stateroom, be ready for the boat drill, sail-a-way, get ready for dinner, dinner...and so on). By day two...it's all a blur..and all were thinking is the water is SOOOO blue and that sun feels so good...oh and where is my Miami Vice or Mint Mojito? By day three...Just give up..be cause any planning and to-do lists are out the window...just bring on those frozen tropical drinks.:goodvibes

Sounds good to me too! :thumbsup2

We're hoping to get to the Port fairly early (1st coach out of MCO) so I'll wear a lime green top and say "hi" to any Dis-ers I see. And 3-ish seems a sensible time to meet up - I'm happy to go along with whatever location seems most convenient...

I love how your mind works, Sandi! :thumbsup2

A quick group photo place to also consider is the secret verandah aft on deck 7.

As everyone else said on the second day, to do list and meets have gone overboard. Looking forward to doing a little free style cruising. Mike

Like the idea of Dis met around 3p on first day prior to safety drill. I will add this to our website.

Place for this: Mickey Pool, "family pool" or elsewhere?

Maybe on first day as well prior to main seating group pic at stairs between 9/10 or Deck 7 aft secret deck?

I plan to arrive at port around 10a. This worked great last time for me. Also gave me chance to meet other Dissers before boarding. I will be in a power chair, with Pal Mickey and Minnie probably sitting in my lap. Will be wearing a Buttom with mickey icon in lime green (well as close as my printer will print lime), name on button as well.

agree with mike and all that by second/third day ppl are so busy with own schedules more difficult to meet.

Yet what are the thoughts of meeting at some point to celebrate all the anniversaries and birthdays? Either deck 7 aft everyone bring something from room service, meet for breakfast, or lunch? time of day, which day? etc...

and thanks scrapperjill for not forgetting "me" <G> My concern is are you or someone else going to push my down the stairs to get rid of my "list" LOL.

There are quite a few of us so I can see it could be difficult to arrange a good time to suit everyone. Maybe we could meet up after dinner one of the evenings? That might be less busy than trying to schedule lunch... :scratchin

Brady...No worries about me pushing you down the stairs...Remember I "LOVE" lists. You just have to watch out for those...non list makers or non planners:scared:

I'd say it would be worth a "try" to set up additional things (meets, celebrations, bar hopping....or what ever ya wanta call it) for other times during the cruise. BUT everyone would need to keep in mind that they are totallyoptional...that there is NO obligation to go...and that if they fit into your cruise plans then good...if not...no problem. We sorta did this on our last cruise... We had a general daily cruise meet set for the same time every day in the same location. We figured if people ended up showing up...they could decide at that point where they wanted to go or what they wanted to do. I never ended up making it to any of the other gatherings...and from what I heard later on on the boards...was not many people did.

Just a thought BUT....it may work out even better to plan the group photo for the same time we plan the inital meet. Again...it's just an idea. But if most of us are there then....then it may work out well.

TO add to that last thought....it may even be a cool shot to all be down on deck 9 and have someone up on deck 10 looking down taking the shot. :)

Anyways...I'm on to making more lists for myself.... Enjoy your day.

Sounds good to me! I will try to find a lime green top on the first day as well. I doubt if I could get DH to wear lime green. He does have a fairly bland wardrobe. So I will look for everyone while waiting to board. I will try to find something with my name on it as well.

I think that a quick meet for a drink at 3:00 sounds great too. We won't want to do meet too much later because they suspend all services at 3:30 due to the drill at 4:00. And I am definitely having a BBC at the meet! We usually head down to our room around 3:45 to grab our vests and wait for the drill. Just let us know where and when.

Later during the cruise it will be tough to organize meets. We may not have as much trouble meeting as other, since it is just the two of us. But we do plan on doing the spa and a number of the activities during sea days. Anyone for a meet at one of the tastings? I understand if not, some do not drink and others are too young to drink. Just a thought. Also, if someone wants to organize a meet after we get on board, you can find me around the adult pool a large portion of the day. Unless bingo or tastings are going on that is! :thumbsup2

Karen, I just saw your post about meeting after dinner. That is a great idea. Maybe we could meet around 10pm up on the deck one night to have a drink and visit. I know that last time they had live music around the adult pool and people were relaxing up there after 10pm.

OK, second edit. Jill, I like the idea of taking the picture the first day. We will probably get the most people together at the time. And the idea about taking it from Deck 10 is great!

Eva...I like the tasting idea. Trying to select an activity that they do on the ship as a meet...would combine something that quite a few people may want to do anyways. I'm thinking the Margarita tasting....they do have one of those don't they?

Over all...I think we will have the best turn out on day one around 3pm.

Heck...I think theres so many of us staying on deck 6 that we may even have a good size dis meet/boat drill:rotfl:
