September 22, 2007 -- WESTERN

Hmmm I see. We had someone in our group last year design a logo...that we all (if we wanted to) printed out on a magnetic paper for our statroom doors. And somehow I volunteered myself to make buttons (name tags) for everyone:confused3 Which really wasn't any problem nor did it take alot of time overall. I guess that's something I can think about doing again if everyones intrested. Of course there would be some stipulations invloved (ie. help with costs).

Well, we have two more you can add to the cruise. This seems to be the cruise for anniversaries. We will be celebrating our 25th as well. Although ours is actually a few weeks before. The Magic is returning on the repo from the Med during our anniversary. It was fun reading through this thread. I'm not sure if I will remember it all. This will be our 3rd cruise. We have been on a 3-night and the Eastern. On the cruise will be DH (Steve) and me (Eva).

A meet does sound fun. I don't mind helping anyway I can. I have planned two meets at WDW years ago. The first one was at 50's Prime Time Cafe and then we went on TOT. It was great we had about 40 people. The second one was a drink around the world party. It was a blast, but you probably won't catch me doing that again. That one had about 25 people. I made badges for the second one that had the WS in the background with "The DIS Drink Around the World Party" printed on them. It was a hoot when Lampwick from Pinocchio stopped us and demanded a badge of his own. I love meets so let me know if I can help in anyway.

I can't believe that it is just a little over 8 months away!:cheer2:

EVA...WELCOME:hippie: A DIS drink around the world meet...sounds like fun:banana: Did you participate in any DIS meets on your cruises? If so....do tell. I think the more ideas we can all come up with the better the meet could be (maybe??).

I'm guessing (and I have since I started the thread months ago) that the closer we get to the cruise the more Disers we'll get to join us...and the more active the group will get. I guess time will tell.

Some of the 'other' things we did for meets last year was to schedule a basic daily meets....where if you wanted to get together with others from the board we'd meet at a set time in a set location then move on from there. I think one of them was we met at a set time at the pool....another was we met at a set location then planned hop around the bars on the ship. BUT like I mentioned earler....after the first meet the frist day we just got to busy with family things and I for one totally forgot. However I did remember quite often later in the day. :confused3

Thanks for the warm welcome. No I have never been to a meet on DCL. I am very excited to attend some though. Touring the ship's lounges would definitely be fun. But you will find that DH and myself are up for most anything. Well, maybe not anything. :) One thing I wondered is if people that meet on this board sometimes link reservations, so they can dine at the same table. We had a pretty bad experience with the tablemates on our first cruise and would love to sit with people from the DIS on our next cruise. It will just be DH and me and we would love to meet other couples that have the same passion for WDW and DCL that we have. We really don't want to sit all alone, even though it is our 25th. Thanks again and let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

I have heard of others linking their reservations and being placed together at dinne. Matter of fact...last year we linked our reservations with two other families that we met on our first cruise (as well as two familes that were cruising with us...we had around 21 people in the group all together. One thing you have to consider when linking with another group/family is dinning time. I know some people are early people and want nothing but early dinner...where others prefer late dinning. I also wouldn't think you'd need to 'link' the reservations to early....meaning I'd take some time, chat with people in the group and see if you 'click' with any one then see about linking reservations for dinning. Anyhow...that's just an idea. ;)

That's a great idea. We have late seating and have actually requested the 8:30 rotation if possible. There always seems to be something going on at Studio Sea between the first show and late seating. We have had to leave trivia and such early to make 8:00 dinner. So we are hoping to get that later rotation. Well, thanks again!

Who did you put your request in with? The last time we cruised they only had early and late. I didn't even think about the diffrent early/late times now. I guess that's something to consider. :goodvibes Last cruise I think I put in a request for what rotation we wanted...but I can't remember who I did it with. I'm almost positive it wasnt' with our TA...

It's kind of funny how that happened. We were booked for back-to-back cruises. We had the one that everyone here is on and the one following (Eastern 09/29). Then DH just couldn't stand not going to WDW on the trip. So he bribed me with a day at Discovery Cove, a cruise on the Breathless, and dinner at Victoria and Albert's. Well, I caved and called to cancel the 2nd cruise. When I called to cancel the 2nd cruise, the person I talked to at DCL reservations was extrememly helpful. She asked we which time of the 3 we wanted to dine. Then she asked me what size table we wanted. Finally, she asked about the type of tablemates we would prefer. I said, Wow, I didn't realize you could request all of this. She said "you sure can."

We have done a total of 6 Disney cruises, all 7 day except the last one which was the 11 day Southern Caribbean on the wonder. That is the only time that we have been on the wonder, all the other cruises were on the magic. We have a couple that we met on the 9/22/2001 cruise, the first after 9/11, that we link dinner reservations with on every cruise as we cruise together. They are from Pennsylvania, and we are in Nashville, Tennessee.

We have always had a meet the first day on board, and then no further planned meets. Sitting with people that you know, makes the dinner so much more enjoyable. Prior to cruising with Disney we had done 2-7 day cruises out of New Orleans on Carnival. Mike

Hi everyone, hope you are all well and enjoying 2007! Sorry I've not posted lately but I've been trying to keep my Dis activity to a minimum as it can be sooo distracting... The prospect of a meet sounds fun. I've only cruised with DCL once before - 3 nights with my DD in May 2005. We had a wonderful time (excuse the pun) but we boarded late and missed the planned Dis meet so I'm still a meet virgin! One of my girlfriends on the UK section of the Dis has just come back from a cruise where she and her family met up with other Dis-ers - sounds like they had the best time!

Hello Eva! We are also celebrating our 25th on the cruise - it's actually on September 23rd! I am considering arranging an onboard vow renewal ceremony - just waiting for the planner to get back to me with date confirmation and then I have to decide whether to spill the beans or keep it a secret from DH... That's interesting what you say about requesting an actual time for the late rotation - might have to send DCL an email making that request.

I have to say I like your husband's style - I could definitely be persuaded to do just about anything (well almost) with the promise of Discovery Cove AND V&A's! Whereabouts in WDW are you staying?

We will be celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary while on board along with our table mates who are celebrating their 35th also. Our date is the 1st of September and their's is the 30th. Mike

Well, I sure hope that we can plan a meet. Everyone here seems wonderful. Although I must admit that I haven't met anyone at a meet that I didn't like. I am also looking forward to getting to know the people on this thread to see if there is anyone that would like to share a table with us at dinner. We really do not want to sit by ourselves. I swear we are not crazy or anything. OK, maybe I am a bit crazy. But DH is completely sane and keeps me under control.

Karen, we will be staying at the BCV in a 1-bedroom. We are DVC members and that is my DH's favorite resort. Me, I'm sentimental. I love OKW because that is the resort we first bought into. I let DH have his way though because EPCOT will have the Food and Wine festival going on at that time.

Well, guess I better get to work. I have to make some money to pay for the trip! :thumbsup2

Mike, I can't believe so many of us are going to be celebrating anniversaries on this cruise! It's going to make for a great atmosphere...:cloud9:

Eva, after the cruise Richard (DH) and I fly back to the UK. Then I'm coming back to WDW on Oct 5th for the Food & Wine and MNSSHP with my DD24! 2 transatlantic flights in less than a week - now that is crazy! We're staying at the Yacht Club for 10 nights which we're really looking forward to. Sophie (DD) and I made a pact in 2004 that we would visit WDW every year and we've managed so far - in fact we already have vague plans for 2008...

DH and I are in the process of buying into DVC at the moment - we're going for VWL to start with tho' TBH I've already got my eyes on an add-on at BCV! I just know I'm going to become a DVC addict... The pictures of OKW look gorgeous in my (well-thumbed) DVC brochure - Sophie and I hope to visit the resort during our vacation...

Have a good day at work! :thumbsup2

Hello all! I'm still here, reading along. I haven't posted much because we aren't 100% sure this cruise will happen. DH will find out his vacation in the next month or two for next year (July-June).... if we get our first choice I'll jump right in! :goodvibes

Good to see everyone posting. Good luck to those needing their vacation schedules approved. Need to look into some of the excursions in Key West and see what tickles the old fancy. After 55 it doesn't take too much:lmao: :lmao: Mike

Good luck with that! Hope you can join us.:thumbsup2 I can't stop thinking about the possibilities for the cruise - I'm so over-excited my DH says I'm high on Disney... :rolleyes1

Hi all! Sorry I haven't been around much either. I get so busy and don't get on the Disboards that much. We are DVC members and visit the world about 4 times a year, so there is not as much research to do as there used to be. :)

We are looking forward to our cruise, and though I have been on the Disboards for cruises several times, I have yet to make it to a meet. The one year I tried I couldn't find anyone else.

It looks like our neighbors may be joining us too. They are going to Hawaii next week and are planning to book when they return.

I wish we were sailing next week....

:scared1: That is CRAZY. I think I'd be making some 'extra' planns and just staying at the world a bit longer;)

OH...I was also going to say. MY GOODNESS. I go to work one day and this thread takes off. lol :)

Eva....calling for the dinning times sounds EASY.... maybe i'll have to give it a whirl. I guess first I better decide what 'time/rotation' I want.

Papa.... So you've been cruising with the same family (that you met on board the ship) since your first cruise?? How COOL!!! We're only on cruise number 3 (comming up) and have been cruising with the same families that we met on board also :) Actually we first met right here on the DIS in the crusie meet thread. We've also had some added groups join us (like my parents, and some good friends)...but the more the merrier. :)

Boy, after finding this thread I am getting so excited about our trip. As if I wasn't already. :) But I am so looking forward to meeting everyone on the cruise. It seems that there are 4 couples celebrating major anniversaries. That is very exciting.

Karen, be careful when we meet. If you haven't bought DVC yet, I can almost guarantee that you will. We have now referred 9 families that have purchased sight unseen. We own at OKW, Vero, and BCV. We became members in 1997. Oh wow, I just realized that will be 10 years ago in September 2007. Yikes, another anniversary to celebrate! :dance3:

Tammy, glad to see there will be another DVC family aboard. Which resort(s) do you own at? Wow! You go to WDW 4 times a year! I am jealous. We can only make it once, sometimes twice in a year.

Jill, calling to request a dinner rotation time was easy. I have done some research and the 8:30 rotation is usually L, AP, P.

We met our friends here on the DIS before the cruise also. We talked on the boards before almost a year before the cruise. We were the first seven day cruise after 9/11/2001 and I guess that is what is so nice cruising with this couple. We did three other cruises with a bunch of cruisers from the 9/22/2001 cruise. We have similar interests and similar tastes so it worked out well.

I would have to say that on our last cruise the 11 day, Barbados was our favorite port. Antigua was nice and St Kitts was interesting.

Looking forward to going to the Southern Most Point in Key West for a photo opportunity.:woohoo: Mike
