****September 2013 - LIST STARTED! - Join me in planning and counting down!!****

Now that SWW is over, I can begin thinking about this one!

We had some really hot days at SWW and I'd like to share some of my DHS cooling off tips.

The best thing we did was to invest in hand held air conditioners. The first one we bought was a brand name one called a Handy Cooler. They regularly sell for $80 but we found this one on line for $29.99. At the same time we found a generic one just called Hand Held Air Conditioner for $10. These were the best investments we could have made. They come with a strap and we were able to hook them up on either side of ds's wheelchair handles so that they were aimed at him.

They work by filling up a sponge with water that gets placed inside the unit. We found that they evaporate fairly fast and refilling it with cold water gave cooler air for a longer time. We were even able to place some melting ice in there which worked even better!

At DHS we found an air vent near the stand alone cash register at Writer's Stop that pumps out cold air. Maybe blasts is a better word than pumps. It's full force, feels great and cools you off fast.

At One Man's Dream there are seats before the theater. At the left side of the bench on the ride hand side is another vent that pumps out cold air.

We stopped at the Backlot Express to buy drinks a couple times. They are refillable there and Power Aid is one of the beverage choices.

We stayed offsite at a villa that had a full size refrigerator and freezer. We froze water bottles and took them with us in a small cooler bag.

We will be there Sept 22-29 staying at POR. We are celebrating our 26th anniversary. :dance3:

Everyone check southwest, they are having a big sale, we just booked our flights for sept!!!

Same dates for me and DW. We tried for POR but it was booked. We'll be at CSR, so that's one change of plans I won't complain about.
