September 2011 - We are going to Disney World {THIS MONTH}! (Third Thread)

Yes, I'm pretty sure we'll have room because we won't have all the diapers, swim diapers, wipes, travel toiletries, and other disposable things coming home.

Awesome, L-Harper! I too will have lots of extra space once all those disposables and tons of SNACKs are consumed. Yay for saving $40!

Awww, yay, I'm glad he's feeling some better! :yay: Thanks for the backpack love; my BFFs got it for me specifically for Disney, and the monogram is oh so fitting!:rotfl2: We haven't had to use the nebulizer for a long time (knocking on wood very, very hard) but I'd rather have it and not need it then need it and not have it.

At the risk of being flamed, I have got to ask a question that no one on the DISboards seems to speak.... what the heck is so special about Toy Story Mania? I see on the Lines app that there is a massive wait for this ride every day, and all of the FPs are normally gone by noon. But, when I watched the YouTube ride video, I just kind of went, Is that it? The cue looks more interesting than the ride to me! Is it really good enough to send everyone at RD running for the back of the parK?:confused3

It's really, really fun! Last time we were going to skip it entirely because of the crazy rush to get there but when we were at DHS at rope drop we decided to go for it. We got in the standby line right away and went through the queue really fast, probably a 10-15 min wait. We got a FP after we rode. It seemed like everyone was heading to the FP line and not in the actual standby line right away. The ride itself is just fun, the motion of the ride vehicle and the special effects are really cool. I just had a huge grin on my face the whole time. We went on Buzz another day, after going on TSM first, and it just wasn't as fun.

This time, I am again anxious about the crazy TSM rush but we're going to do it and try to ride it twice using standby line and then FP later on. We've been checking the Lines app on Dh's phone at different times of the day and today there were still FPs left at 10:30 AM so it shouldn't be too bad for us in Sept., hopefully!!

We never stand in line for anything more than 45 minutes. I just can't do it with two little ones. That being said, my kids LOVE TSM. We love the challenge of competing against each other and we love the 3D part and spinning around. I don't think it's worth a 115 minute wait like I've seen in the summer months, but I do make a point of riding it each time we go.

I'm hoping for no two hour waits anywhere, or 45 minute one's if I can avoid it! According to Lines, that's about what the Space Mountain wait time is right now!:scared1: I admit that it looks cute, but I can't imagine my DDs will find it awesome enough to go there first. I think I'm going to FP as soon as I get there.:thumbsup2 My younger DD and I are trying to be adventurous, so it's the hard core coasters first!:rotfl2:I am seriously interested in seeing the 3D graphics in action on TSM, though.

Ok, I have never done TSMM, are you in the queue for a lot of the wait? That might at least keep the 2 yos attention, who is the only one that might not handle lines well. Well, her and DH :rolleyes1

Funny story that this talk about line waiting times has made me think of...

On our first trip in 06, pre disboards/guidebooks/experience or advice, DH, dd ds and I were fortunate and had no waits at AK,DHS and most of our time at MK. We came across a ride with a 20 minute wait (which we found long because we had been spoiled  ) but we wanted to try it, it sounded good. So we waited for the Jungle Cruise. We had no idea it was animatronics and that the jokes were intentionally corny, we just thought we had a snarky kid on a bad day. DH and I couldn't get over that we had no wait for a real safari at AK the day before, and waited 20 minute for some snotty teenager. Joke was on us when I finally got my hands on a guide book :rolleyes1:flower3:

Not sure how to reply.....seeing as we ARE the in-laws that are paying for our 3 DS and family (9) total...and after reading this hoping or praying that my DIL do not feel the same way...sorry...but we are doing this as a family...and it never occured to me that they might resent us...i hope not...

we leave in 3 days...I will let you know how it turns out...that being said...I would have given anything to go to disney with my in-laws...

relax and enjoy your trip...:)

Oh dont get me wrong. I do NOT resent my inlaws one bit. I'm very close with my MIL. I call her everyday just to chat :). We are
Not just inlaws.. We are friends too. Do trust me when i say that there is no resentment here. I am just frustrated how it seems that there are feelings of obligation on both sides of the coin. They feel obligated to pay... I dont know why but i know it makes it hard to plan certain things because i dont want to seem like i just want to spend their money or we would pay for it ourselves but they fight us on it all the time. Anyway it was just a passing frustration

Also, my comment about wanting to go just the three of us was not because i dont want my inlaws around or anything like that but we have been married for 6 years and we havent ever taken a real vacation just us. Our time off always has to be used to visit our families ( both sets of parents live far away) and sometimes i just want to get away just the three of us for a change. But that does not mean that i wish my inlaws werent coming with us to disney. Im very glad they will be there especially since its DDs birthday

Just little family squabbles :)

Eta: also its not like trips to disney are few and far between. We go every year and my inlaws have come with us everytime and i do love it. We always have fun and there will be more trips together in the future

No worries, sillylily, the wait times will be considerably less for us. Remember this is Labor Day Weekend. Last big hurrah, tons of locals etc. We have been a few times in Sept. and never waited more than 20 mins for any ride. Always getting a fastpass for big ticket rides (mostly coasters)! WITH the one exception of TSM. That was a 75 min. wait without fastpasses once. We had to do it and LOVED it. Next trip we planned accordingly and didn't have nearly the wait. Get there in the morning and grab a FP for late in the day. It's such a nolstalgic queue area (in a/c) and then you are inside the 3-D carnival game. It really is pretty cool. I love feeling like a kid in a room full of giant lincoln logs and monkeys in a barrel and candyland. Listen to me gush - such a complete sap I am (and showing my age). There isn't a toy there that I didn't play with.

I just bought one of those drawstring backpacks on amazon.com for $5something with shipping included. I don't think I've ever been more excited for a trip or at least none that I can remember.

And I haven't even been yet and I'm already bummed that I won't be able to go back for awhile. I'm going to NYC in the spring, DH and I are planning a long trip next fall on the west coast, and I'm planning on going back to Europe in the summer of 2013. So I think it will be awhile that I can go back. I'm jealous of you guys that have been multiple times!

The only thing I need to do is purchase MNSSHP tickets and ship a case of water to the hotel (which I'm not sure how to do that but I was planning on asking the budget board).

Oh and pack when the date gets closer

9 Days! The excitement is mounting and I am sooooo ready!

Updating DH on when he has to drop/pick us at the airport, I realized that we have to leave the house at 5am for the 20 min drive to the airport. No waiting around waiting to leave (generally we have an afternoon flight), it will be roll out of bed, brush teeth and GO! YES!!!:cheer2:

Today is my sons 7th birthday! we are going snorkeling and then baking a cake. Its gonna be a great day. Tonite is our last night home, and tomorrow off to the world!!! Just me and my hubby. I cant wait. T Minus 24 hours 8 minutes!!!!

I was at a BBQ yesterday, trying to explain to my friends why we are going to Disney again (#7!!) They look at me like I'm a quack, especially because of the age of my kids! We all love it. I told them that I consider Cinderella's castle to be my cottage, and many people go to the same cottage year after year and no one thinks that's strange. I may have been able to convince a few families to join me next August!!!!!!!!!!! It's alot easier leaving the land of pixie dust knowing when you're going to return! Last year when we left I didn't have this trip booked and I was really sad, I kept saying to my husband that I wondered if we'd ever return (that's before I realized it was the family cottage :rotfl2:

We get this all the time! Nobody really understands why we go year after year but your explanation makes perfect sense! We wouldn't have it any other way :cloud9:

Riding up on clouds....

Love this!

Yeah, I don't think the lines will be anything like summer months. We haven't been to Disney in the fall in 10 years but I remember very small/minimal waits. We have been going in June and July and there are always crowds and waits so anything will be better.

Sounds like you some wonderful trips to other places planned! First trips to WDW are so special and amazing and once you get dusted with a little bit of the magic it's hard not to go back :wizard: I bet you'll be back sooner than you know it ;)

:thumbsup2 Love it. Stealing it next time I am talking to a nay sayer.

Michelle - Another great picture, and BTW - how is the scratchy throat?

DH has a cold, and now my youngest dd is sneezing. Need to buy some OJ before we all get the cold.

I'm excited to start reading some trip reports! Basketkat already mentioned this but if anyone else wants to fb hook up for live trip reports let me know :) I get so excited when I see other people post on their trip lol

Great idea MamaJessie & Basketkat about FB!!!

I will be updating my FB while I am at the World, but won't be able to update on the DIS. If you would like to join me "live", PM me and I can add you to my FB friends.

Just wanted to add, I haven't really posted anything about my Disney trip on my FB because most of friends don't "get" it. I assure you, that is my profile. ;)
