September 2011 - We are going to Disney World {THIS MONTH}! (Third Thread)

Who all is planning on returning next September?

This was our 2nd September trip in a row and we want to visit at a different time of year next time. Either late Nov, early Dec or Jan or Feb (wow we really narrowed it down :rotfl: ) It isn't just the heat, I would like to see something besides the fall decorations.

Just got back yesterday, and having the Disney blues:sad1: Weather was fantastic for our trip, but I was really surprised by the crowds. I kept thinking the parks would be empty, but it was more crowded than our August trips for sure. We hit rope drop each morning, and were able to ride everything we wanted, but not multiple times like I expected (except for Sunday afternoon at AK - kids rode EE five times in a row :scared1:)

CMs were fantastic - some great interaction. Nothing too special for DS's birthday - just lots of birthday wishes (no special treatment at restaurants or on rides). Didn't really expect anything, but was was hoping for a bit of pixie dust for him.

We're definitely going back next year, but think we'll stick with August - it's just really hectic for us to go during school time. It's not just pulling them out, but all the activities and sports - just too crazy! Planning on the Poly again - just such a beautiful resort :cloud9:

Oh, and we did park hopper for the first time this trip, and I don't think we'll do that again. Just wasn't worth it for us - by the time we got to the second park, the waits for the headliners were just too long and the fastpasses were usually gone. We like to hit a park at rope drop, ride and fastpass the headliners, then come back late afternoon and use those fastpasses. Works well for us! And we usually stay enough days to get enough time at each park.

Planning on Universal for Harry Potter next year too!!:woohoo:

DHS: Ugh. Least. Favorite. Park. Star Tours, RnR and Starring Rolls, the three biggest highlights. It isn't a terrible park, it just wasn't my thing.

My feelings exactly! I can't put my finger on why I dislike DHS so much - we actually really enjoy some of the rides (RnR, ToT, TSM and Star Tours) - but the layout of the park is just so awkward. And the theming is not to my taste at all. I just don't have that happy feeling there, like I do at the other parks :confused3 Oh well, we'll still spend our half day there doing the fun rides, then head back to MK, where it's magical :cloud9:

I'm sorry that I totally bailed on you guys this week. I've just been so insanely busy and its not going to slow down for quite some time, so if I don't check in for awhile you'll know why. I'm going to try and finish up my dining reviews within 2 weeks.

sorry I haven't updated about the trip much lol we have been catching up on much needed rest. I slept 12 hours straight last night :lmao: DD slept 14 hours. We are laying low today and just resting until it's time for DD's dance class. right now she's laying on a blanket on the floor with every disney themed stuffie she owns hahaha.

We really enjoyed Bay Lake Tower. The room was nice. we didn't have any of the issues with it that I've seen some people have had on the Dis. The view was AMAZING. the pool was very nice and there is a lot to do between the two resort buildings and lots of atmosphere :)

Our days at the parks were great too. Had a lot of great character interaction and had some fantastic cast members who just made the trip that much more special.

now we are home with the disney blues LOL

Same here. I was all prepared to melt from the heat in August and it was not diffrent from when we have gone in September. I also didn't think the lines were much diffrent. We booked BB for 2 weeks at the end of next August. I'm not 100% sure we will do 2 full weeks but we will at least do 10 nights again. The only time it was crowded was at the MK the day before labor day.

it was WAY too hot for us during our visit. I was prepared for it to be hot but I wasn't expecting it to be as bad as it was. it made the parks almost unenjoyable because we were just melting all day long. We took breaks in the afternoon during the hottest part of the day. We had to. We were out one day WAY past when we should have been and really paid the price. that was the day the monorail broke down and DD and I were alone at Epcot and had to take the special bus they set up to take us to the transportation center. we didn't end up getting back to the room until 3:30 lol and it was oppressively hot. I was SOAKED with sweat and as soon as we got back to the room I hopped in a cold shower lol it was so nice.

I think we will be sticking to the winter months from now on

but wouldn't you know it... the DAY we left, a cold front came through lol. it was breezy and nice. Figures LOL

If it's the 40th Anniversary puzzle, I have it and can give you the SKU if you need it. There is a Disney shopping phone number you can call to order things from the parks. Here's the info on Allears.net: http://allears.net/tp/mailorder.htm. HTH!

Thank you for the link! I don't think it was the 40th anniversary one. I know exactly where it's located in the WL gift shop. :rotfl: I'll try my luck by calling when I get back home. Thanks again!:goodvibes

Hey ShhhQ, how's the new trip planning coming? Will you be going back in September? DH and I are taking a year off to save for a cruise or a trip somewhere in Europe. Then we'll be back to Disney, but probably not September. We have always loved going at that time of year, but I would like to go the second week of November next time. I love the Christmas decorations and the weather will be easier to handle I think. We went the first week of December and it was so cold we ended up back in our room most nights. And we're from Ohio!! How's your mom doing? Still improving hopefully.:goodvibes

Welcome back all who just got home. I'm with you all on the disney blues, especially since we're skipping Disney next year for the first time in 8 years. But I can live vicariously through all of you with your bounce back offers!:rolleyes1

Did you leave Oct 1st too? We were loading the car and I just stared at DH and said "You're kidding right? It is absolutely beautiful out and we are going to spend the next day in a car!"

yes LOL we left October 1st. Wasn't it gorgeous out LOL couldn't believe it.

I was in this crowd, too, MAN was that irritating!:rotfl2:It was 500 degrees with 225% humidity all week long, and it dropped 30 degrees the day we left? That was just wrong!

Planning is kind of at a stand still for the moment.... my friend has to figure out if she can afford it... It will probably be spring before I know for sure.. At the moment, I feel like I would go alone if she can't go!!! Even thinking of attending MNSSHP next year... I have never been!
Always go in September, I don't find it too hot... we went the end of Aug our 1st time and beginning of Sept, the following year.... there was a noticable drop the day after labor day. This time of year fits best. Christmas time is out for me... although I would love that time of year... I work retail and that is the busy time.... no time off guarenteed.

Mom is doing a lot better now.... had a heart cath and no blockage... as long as she keeps using her oxygen she is fine.

Good Morning all!! Can someone help me find the thread for Sept 2012 travelers???? Please and Thank you!

We left the 2nd.....it was a little cooler that day....especially since we left on the 5:45am bus..:scared1: It was awful....not only did I tear up and have a rough time leaving but we had a poor girl puke on our bus. I think she got car sick, fairly early into the bus ride. But I felt sick too...Disney Blues sick:sick: I thought our week was great. Not many rides did we wait for, maybe the real popular ones 20 mins but hey I live in a tourist trap with Cedar Point and people would pray for those lines.,....at CP you wait like 1 hour- 3 hrs! Nobody does it like Disney for sure!!:lovestruc

Well off to upload more pics to my facebook and then to work on my photopass cd. Over 600 photos now and haven't even uploaded my own 160 pics!!! But that will take some time as I am still trying to get everything back into my travel tote. Man do we pack alot of "incase" items:confused3

TTFN Everyone have a good day!!!

We thought the last week of Sept. was hotter than this week, but we were here in June and it seemed lots hotter and muggier then. We were here Jan 10 and the highs were in the 50's and lows in the 30's. You haven't lived until you do test track at 40 degrees.

We are hoping to be going back in January as well  just waiting to hear if there is a room available where we are hoping to book.

We are thinking of getting AP's and going back again in december of 2012. Do you always get discounts on resort bookings? we were planning on using points but if we can get a room for even less with the discounts then I would seriously look into that for our trips lol
