September 2011 - We are going to Disney World {THIS MONTH}! (Third Thread)

We're off to the airport in an hour :cool1: It's been lots of fun waiting for our trips together! I hope everyone going this last week has a blast! I'll check in when we get back :thumbsup2

We are back! We got home around 9PM Sunday. We had a great time but it was definitely harder and different with a toddler! We were vacationed out but certainly not Disney'd out!

A few thoughts: It was HOT! We probably won't go in September again, especially since it seemed more crowded than I had expected. We had some long lines for meeting characters but really didn't wait very long for rides. We did wait 20 mins for POTC on our last day though, and that's long to me!

MNSSHP was awesome and we watched both parades. We only met the Dwarfs though as there was just too much to do. We did both Haunted Mansion magic shots for the Photopass but only the hearse made it onto our photo pass card :sad2:. We'd go again to the MNSSHP when DD is older, like maybe around 8.

The lovebugs were NOT bad at all, only saw a few flying around. There were a lot of dead ones on the railings at POR though, and a few made it into our room. I'm glad I knew about them before going but they were not a big deal at all.

My DD loved meeting the characters and ran up to each one without hesitation. She wanted to make sure they signed her book even though she didn't know what they were doing! Highlights were meeting Mary Poppins, Alice and Phineas & Ferb. It was difficult with her because she'd want to walk or be carried and only wanted me to carry her, not her dad. Also, we'd go into a gift shop to get out of the heat and she'd yell "Outside, outside!" Crazy girl. She did well on the flights and sleeping at the resort too.

I'm a little depressed that the trip is done and we can't go back until at least 2013! I am having withdrawal.

Glad you had a fun trip.
That disney withdrawal is why we book another trip. It is not so bad when you know that you have another trip commming up.

We leave Friday morning for 10 days!!! Can't wait!!! Just added the dining plan this morning and our tickets! It's finally HERE!!! (almost!)

We just got back from our trip... a one week vacation turned into a 2 week nightmare! We did have some fun, but we had loads of problems... culminating in DM spending a week in the hospital... 4 days of which was in the ICU. Her health has hit a point that we now feel that this was a very last trip.. it will take an extreme change in her health to be able to take any more vacations. She has confusion at times that makes me scared to leave her alone, she actually got lost when we arrived at our resort. On our last day, instead of going to Epcot, I had to call 911 as she was in severe pain... the paramedics found that her heart was in A-FIB and rushed her to the hospital... this is a new condition for her and she had to be placed on blood thinners... if this had continued untreated she could have gone into full blown heart failure or developed a clot that could lead to a stroke. She says she felt like she was gonna die and I was afraid at the time she would.

I hope everyone elses trips are much better than ours turned out.

Oh my Gosh! I'm so sorry this happened! I was wondering why we hadn't heard from you since you got back. Hope your mom is feeling better and that you are able to get back to a routine you both are comfortable with. My prayers are with you both!

I've been in Virginia since the 23rd and have not been online at all. I hope everyone who is at Disney now is having a great time and are on the mend. Good grief! lots of illnesses and accidents at the last minute. So sorry to hear about all of these.:sad2:

BorkBorkBork: Glad you're back and that you had a great time.:good vibes

Love the live reports...keep them coming. I'm loving being here getting to hold my new granddaughter, but I'm still thinking about my Sept. buddies and wishing you all the best. Again, L. Harper, thanks for doing such a great job facilitating this thread!:thumbsup2

Hey L-Harper, we had a near dis-meet in the lobby at POP. I was sitting and waiting for my younger daughter to arrive on ME about 11:30 am on the 16th when you and your family walked by wearing the t-shirts you made. One of the guys was in the stroller. I would have said "HI!", but it looked like you were on a mission. I also wasn't completely sure it was you guys until I saw the pic. now in your profile. You've done so much for this thread, I just wanted to offer a :worship::worship::worship:!

I'm so bummed that you didn't say anything. It's cool that you saw me though. It was either on the 9/10 which would have been awesome for you to say hello or on 9/17, which was hour last day, and you wouldn't have wanted to say hello because we were sick. This thread was MY pleasure! It helped so much with our planning and I can't thank all of you guys enough. I plan on started a post-September thread on October 1st so those of us who still want to chat Disney with me can. I'd love to have everyone come to the next thread. :goodvibes

Just popping in to say hi!!!

We got back at about 3:30pm on Sunday. We wanted to be able to relax once we got home before hitting reality again.

We had a fantastic time!!! AKV was awesome...as usual! We really like Bay Lake Tower, too. I didn't think the crowds were that bad. We didn't really wait for anything except for the time that DH's family arrived at AK right as we were coming off the safari and wanted to do the safari before we did anything else, so we got right back on. That wait was about 20 minutes.

Food was wonderful. Victoria & Albert's was, by far, the best dining experience I've ever had. It was so relaxing and the food was spectacular! We did end up cancelling Whispering Canyon Cafe because it looked like it was going to storm and we didn't want to get caught trying to get from WL to BLT.

We watched Wishes from TOTW twice. You really can't beat the view and not having to deal with hordes of people. I'd love to do it again.

We are trying to decide what dates we are going to go in 2012. We already have January booked and I know we want to go in Sept. I've never seen the holiday decorations, so I'm thinking we'll try to get there in Nov or Dec, too.

I'm having mega WDW withdrawals this week.

Aww, yay! I'm SO glad to hear that you had such a wonderful time! There have been so many "not-so-great" stories from people's trips that its refreshing to see yours. You'll have so much planning all of those trips in 2012!

You are so welcome! I hope you come join the new thread I start on 10/1. Enjoy that baby!

Hi everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are back. We had an awesome time but I have been run off my feet since I stepped back into this world! I hope when the dust settles we can swap stories! I have loved this thread. Talk soon everyone and I hope you have all had a magical time

Finally relaxing for a few so I wanted to pop in and say hi!

Yesterday was MNSSHP. We (mostly) had a great time. We had a couple metldowns, and then the kids did too :rolleyes1 I need to make a note somewhere since this happened to use last tie too. When the fireworks are about to start, do not expect to move, at all. You better be somewhere you want to be because no one is letting you out. I am pretty sure if I spontaneously combusted people would just give me a dirty look while I stop dropped and rolled.... I did accidentally smack into two people's feet with my stroller during this time. I apologized but if you talk to anyone who says "Some crazy Queen of Hearts rolled over my feet at the MNSSHP, what a jerk" Just tell them I was trying my best :sad2: When I was finally stuck and decided to jsut enjoy watching teh show where I was instead of trying to move I was behind a woman with gigantic eyeball balloons that obscured my view almost entirely, so i repaid my karma..? Maybe? The kids loved trick or treating and the villains dancing was awesome and the dance party with Stitch :goodvibes My son was getting pretty miesrable until he took his tylenol. He had gone without all day and was so proud but when he started to melt down I told him to give it a try and it worked :goodvibes Oh and the kids had all their things signed when we got there at 4 by the princesses and the wonderful people there told us to come back after 7 for a different experience so the kids got to see Snow White and The Prince, Rapunzel and Flynn Rider and Cinderella and Prince Charming. They had seen Cinderella the first go round but after 7 they got to see her man muffin :thumbsup2 That was definitely fun!!

We had a fun day at Universal today. I am trying so hard not to compare the two parks and let them be their own thing, but I cannot wait to go back to a WDW park tomorrow. Don't get me wrong though Universal is a lot of fun too, and butterbeer is good. More specifically the cream on top :drinking1

I am going to ahve to write a trip report when I get home. Fun way to revisit the vacation and I really have learned a lot about what the pros and cons of onsite are to me, with my first off site trip.

Hope all that are just heading out now and in the next few days have a magical time :wizard:

Ok, I chatted enough, I will check back in later :)

She has improved quite a bit since returning home.... our 1st few days home were a bit scary as she seemed like she should still be in the hospital. Yesterday was also a bad day, we went to her Dr. appt and she got so wore out that they sent her immediately to the ER... where we thought they would keep her! However, they got her on oxygen and ran several tests... No heart failure, no pneumonia, no uti and lungs were clear.... she left better than coming in... due to being on oxygen!!! That opened her eyes that she needs to be on it and is now using her oxygen like she is supposed to... and now seems so much better.

We had already planned on not going to Disney next year, but doing something else, maybe a cruise or something. However, I still don't think she should be taking any long trips so far from home. But I did discuss some other options with her taking a short trip close by. Also a friend from work and I started talking... she would love to go to Disney... I told her if she came up with half I would pay for her...lol... so we got to discussing... we both worried that Mom would be upset if I tried to go without her. I casually brought up the subject... telling her about us joking around. Surprisingly, she said she would love for me to have someone to go with that could enjoy the rides with me. So there is a possibility that I just might get to go again next year!!! Only problem now, Mom said if she was up to it, she would go to.... after what we just went thru??? :scared1:

Its our last day. Boo hoo. We are going to enjoy every second but its going to be hard not to cry lol. This has been the best disney trip we have ever taken. DD is just so thrilled and its wonderful. Including photopass i would say we have about 500 photos so far lol

Also if you happen to be at BLT or the contemporary and you see Joe... give him a shout out. he's AWESOME!!!!!!

Sitting in my hotel room at POP waiting for everyone to wake up...letting the kids sleep in a bit as we've been going non-stop! Our first time to WDW..and we are simply blown away at how amazing it is!!! The kids love POP, we are in the 60's section facing the lake, its awesome!
we went to MNSSHP on Tuesday night..if anyone was there, we were the ones who had a very cranky 4 yr old throwing a fit right when the fireworks started:eek:. I was a little unprepared for how busy it would be at the Halloween party, WOW! But it was a ton of fun..we LOVED it and are thinking about going back on Sunday night!
I cannot get over how incredibly nice people are. we have met a ton of families..my son has met kids from everywhere, including Brazil and Scotland, pretty awesome! We only have 4 days left..I don't want to go home:sad2:
but we've decided to come back December 2012:santa: Can't wait to start planning again!!!!!

I am thinking of renting BLT DVC points. How did you like BLT? I saw you had some good comments about it. I am going back and forth with BLT, AKL, & BWV.

We are on the road to Disney!! Should be there in about an hour or so. Kids have finally settled down for a nap, can't wait to be there!

I just wanted to let you know that you can get your other haunted mansion picture. We ran into this same issue and long story short and talking to 3 different photopass cm's, you can call the photopass number and they can search for your picture and have it added to the card. I know it's easier to do from the parks, but it can still be done! We were missing our hearse photo and I was very upset, a wonderful CM Chris in the MK photo area, searched, then made a phone call, apparently DH was "washed out" in the photo due to the flash so they "deleted" the picture, aka didn't put it in their data base or on our card. Chris asked them to add the picture anyways and the following day it was on our card.:thumbsup2 DH and I are both fine with the picture, I can't believe they deleted it, and after paying $107 for tickets I want my darn photo "ghostly white" and all:rotfl2:

Thanks for that, good to know! I already edited my pics and ordered my CD so I'm out of luck on that one for now and it's ok. I'm glad you got your picture back!

After getting back into the swing of things at work and catching a nasty cold :headache: I have finally decided to start my trip report. Feel free to follow over.

I would also like to say in regards to the MNSSHP photos that DH is in BIG trouble for refusing to wait in line in order to take advantage of the photopass opportunities like the mansion and the hearse. Guess we'll just have to go back!!!!

Last minute change of plans, I am going to be canceling our Chef Mickey for tomorrow morning at 11:10 for 6 people. I am also going to post over on the oct cancellation thread. I will probably be cancelling in about an hour.

lemonsours - Have an amazing time!!

Oh and I met a DISer yesterday, from this thread!! I have to look in here later to see how to spell her screen name. She had rhinestones around her LGMH which made it catch the light while we stood in line for sum of all thrills :)

That is awesome you got to meet a fellow Sept 2011 Diser! I am hoping to run into Basketkat and her family tomorrow at MK. It will be crazy though I am sure.

I didn't run into ANY DISers, boo! We did Epcot yesterday afternoon, sort of our last hurrah. We're packed and leaving this morning.:sad2:Honestly, I'm almost relieved. I somehow have contracted what looks like cellulitis up and down both of my legs, it developed our first night here. I am struggling to walk normally, which has been rough the last couple of days.:sick:I need to see the doctor when we get home, double boo!:scared1:
