September 2011 - The Planning Has Started!!!

I love the idea of getting money from the country for show and tell! Very neat idea!

Luckily for DD, her school never gives her homework that has to be made up for vacation but I do like having her keep a journal just to keep her thinking, writing, etc! Looking forward to thinking of something for us to do this trip too. I love your ideas!

One year, we did our annual SC beach trip in May instead of June. My son's teachers had some really cool homework assignments for him. For one, he kept a journal of each state we drove through and did a little research on each one along the way, and also had some atlas work to do and turn in. For another (his art class), he had to sketch a landscape or something, so he sat down by the ocean and drew the gorgeous view that we had looking back at our beach house, the dunes, palm trees, sun on the horizon, etc. Turned out fantastic!

On our cruise we got coins and paper money from Mexico, Cayman Islands, and the Bahamas.

Nothing is booked yet, but I think we might do a short trip from 9/28-10/2. The kids have off two days for Rosh Hashanah and maybe we can even get in on one day of the Food and Wine Festival.

We usually go in Jan, so this will be a whole new experience for us. What should we expect?

Thanks,
Heather

Welcome!

Late September is still very Hot and humid, may have short periods of rain, lovebugs, restaurants are crowded (free dining) but parks are low crowds!

We love going in September!

That does sound great! Now you have my wheels turning, LOL

I might have to incorporate some of your ideas into a project for DD to do

Is anyone else going to order from beerrun.biz, gardengrocer.com, or weshop.com for their trips?

I have seen a lot of Dissers say that they are going to order bottled water. As soon as we found out that you can get free ice water from any CS-we almost completely stopped with bottled water altogether! We may bring one or two reusable water bottles to have in the room or carry with us and keep in line...
is that why others still do bottled water too or maybe not everyone knows about the free water yet! No excuse September thread! Eliminate that cost from your trip! :)

I didn't know that...i considered gardengrocer but all I really need is water and the delivery is costly :scared1: Did the water taste okay....I brought filtered, refillable bottles last year:wizard:

I am one of the people that thinks the water tastes bad, I think it tastes so badly of sulfur I think I would rather eat matchsticks! It may depend on where you are from in the country, but I live in the midwest and our water is not match flavored, so yuuuccckk!;)

Im so jealous, I really want to try the DxDDP one of these days! Everything youve picked looks awesome! My only question is on your 2nd MNSSHP night. If youre only having dinner at 750, wont you miss a huge chunk of the party? :confused3

I love the maps...you're right, they are big! But I do enjoy ordering them and keeping them as souvenirs from the trip!

I'm sorry the ones you ordered previously didn't turn out as expected but like you said you can always order another set :goodvibes

I keep telling myself I should laminate a set and use them as (large ;))placemats or just make them more durable for the kids and they could use a dry-erase marker on them to circle their favorite attractions, etc. My 7 year old loves looking at all the small maps of the parks and it's great for her to try and navigate when we're in the parks. Who says Disney isn't educational, lol

Great ideas!! I have a set from 2009 that I did the "antique" option, whatever that is called. You know, with the goldish background? :confused3 :) This year we did the Character option and the maps look pretty different. I ordered them in March and unfortunately ToonTown is still on there which I was hoping to avoid but oh well! We just use them as souvenirs and laminating them would be great!

I had a really nice Disney day today. Tangled :lovestruc came early from the Disney Movie Club, which was a nice change from the 3 weeks late Bambi. We watched that and when we saw my inlaws, my MIL gave me one of those Disney Tasty Bakers! Woohoo! I'm excited to use that during our 100 day countdown especially.

I hope everyone's having a good weekend!

oh thanks! I think my computer was acting up when i was adding my favorites. when I got them I was all like, I definitely don't remember marking Aladdin's carpet ride as a favorite! :lmao:
and your lamination idea is fantastic! Those would make awesome place mats!

How many of have been to both Mickey's Halloween party and MNSSHP? I want to do MNSSHP but last year I went to Mickey's Halloween Party, and want to know if its different than that.

I am up and ready to make my ADR. Come on 6 am. :)

It is 6:16am and I am done withmy ADR's  (for now anyways haha). So glad I dragged myself out of bed, I was able to get everything I wanted within a 30 minute range. Heres what I was able to snag!

Boy that was fun lol
I got everything I wanted and the times except for Planet Hollywood and T-Rex.
I originally wanted T-Rex on Sept 24th but there were no times, so I switched Planet Hollywood for that day. I didn't get the time I wanted for Planet Hollywood, ended up having to take an 815 time.
I switched T-Rex to September 28th, wanted to do supper here but didnt want to do early or late supper. The only time I got was for 5 pm so then I just decided we could do lunch and ended up getting 12 pm, which I wanted.

Update I changed Planet Hollywood To WCC and swapped the dates for The Plaza, Chef Mickeys and 50's Prime Time. Now I think I am set. The reason I changed those is because we plan on doing the Halloween Party on September 30th too and wanted to be in MK that day :)
