September 2011 - The Planning Has Started!!!

Hi, please add me to the list we are making our first trip to WDW Sept. 26-30. We (me, DH, DS5 and DS7) will be staying at POFQ. I make ADRs on Wednesday. We are so excited!!

Well, I know I may be crazy but I have my days planned out for the trip and I'm totally going against recommended days! I'm such a rebel. Here's hoping I'm not making a grievous error, but last year when we went my daughter and I had so much fun at EMH's and it really wasn't so bad and it was spring break! So, my thinking is that in September it may even be better? Guess we will see. If it doesn't pan out we have hoppers so we can just switch parks, right.

So here's the plan for now:

Sept 15th: Arrival day, do Blizzard Beach or DTD, then hit DHS for Fantasmic.
Sept 16th: Epcot Day, get up Early head in take a break midday go back for Dinner and EMH's
Sept 17th: AK day and then Boardwalk Area at night
Sept 18th: MK day, and my Birthday!, make RD, take break midday go back for EMH's.
Sept 19th: DHS day, Early for those Toy Story passes. argh. break midday and back for EMH's
Sept 20th: Typhoon Lagoon then hit MK for MNSSHP!
Sept 21st: Our first time to go to Universal: Islands of Adventure is the goal for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter...nervous about this one since will have to take a taxi there and back.
Sept 22nd: Departure Day, hit up our favorite for one more ride then home!

Nothing is booked yet, but I think we might do a short trip from 9/28-10/2. The kids have off two days for Rosh Hashanah and maybe we can even get in on one day of the Food and Wine Festival.

We usually go in Jan, so this will be a whole new experience for us. What should we expect?

Has anyone ordered their customized maps yet from WDW?

I haven't started on mine yet for this year...hoping to get started on that soon! Maybe after the kids go back to school.

I ordered some a while ago for the planned may trip, but they didn't really turn out the way i wanted them too, like all of my favorite attractions were messed up. The maps are neat to look at though, they are HUGE so they are going to be more of a souvenir since I don't want to ruin them by stashing them in my bag lol. Its getting me familiar with the lay of the lands, and routes to take (i'm so used to DLR that i almost never use a map ) they let you order a set of maps every 6 months so I am going to reorder them and change the attractions listed.

I am a golfing nut so I will have plenty of golfeing adventures to keep my busy. Plus othere summer weekend trips. Dis will also be there to keep me In WDW all summer long.

Oooh, yuuummmy. I want to go back to Brown Derby to get another cobb salad, but I always end up going with more kid friendly places in the end. Harumph.

That looks great. I didn't look up days or anything, but the actual planning of it looks fine. I did all the "wrong" days last time, and while it did get a little crazy at times, it was definitely manageable.

I'm looking forward to being able to do late nights followed by early morning when my girls get a little older. That's just not an option for us right now, but I could do it, easy. Midweek for IOA is a great plan. We went 3 days in December, a Tuesday, a Thursday, and a Saturday. Tuesday and Thursday were very slow, we were able to get on all but the most popular attractions over and over and over again with almost no wait. Saturday was a different story, up to 20-30 minute waits even for the least popular attractions. Although, Saturday was the day we did WWOHP, and while crowded, we still only had to wait about 30 minutes for FJ.

We did end of Sept, beginning of Oct in 2007. It was very hot and humid. Tough with a one year old. But we had a good time. No rain, but maybe we were just lucky. WS in Epcot was crowded when F&W started. But otherwise pretty low crowds.

Is anyone else going to order from beerrun.biz, gardengrocer.com, or weshop.com for their trips?

I have seen a lot of Dissers say that they are going to order bottled water. As soon as we found out that you can get free ice water from any CS-we almost completely stopped with bottled water altogether! We may bring one or two reusable water bottles to have in the room or carry with us and keep in line...
is that why others still do bottled water too or maybe not everyone knows about the free water yet! No excuse September thread! Eliminate that cost from your trip!

YIPPEE!!! We are going to Animal Kingdom Lodge September 9th - 15th and I cannot wait!!!

This was a semi-surprise trip that we were given by friends - they used their timeshare points to reserve the resort for us. So now, I am making plans to buy tickets and budget for food. I want to take my hubby out for a 'just the two of us' dinner one night (our kids are old enough to stay in the hotel alone.) Any good ideas? We have eaten at O'Hanas, Coral Reef, Whispering Canyon Cafe, and Crystal Palace in the past. What about the restaurants at AKL? I will be checking the boards, but I would love everyone's input.

As soon as we found out that you can get free ice water from any CS-we almost completely stopped with bottled water altogether! We may bring one or two reusable water bottles to have in the room or carry with us and keep in line...
is that why others still do bottled water too or maybe not everyone knows about the free water yet! No excuse September thread! Eliminate that cost from your trip!

Some people say that the water tastes funny We usually get the stainless steel bottles from the Disney Store, (which we already have ) and refill those

Boma is really good!! the AKL has more 'eclectic' places to eat.... but man they're good!! I have GOT to go back to AKL just to get a Zebra Dome.... or 20....

Gardengrocer has EXCELLENT service!! I order my bottled water, Diet Dew, and a few other snacky things to keep in the room. It's a LIFESAVER because the Dis parks don't sell Diet Dew and I'm an ADDICT!! LOL!!

I keep telling myself I should laminate a set and use them as (large )placemats or just make them more durable for the kids and they could use a dry-erase marker on them to circle their favorite attractions, etc. My 7 year old loves looking at all the small maps of the parks and it's great for her to try and navigate when we're in the parks. Who says Disney isn't educational, lol

We have used gardengrocer in the past for pop, breakfast items, etc. I highly recommend them!

Good ideas! We always try to make Disney educational. For example, when my older two kids were younger and I took them out of school for WDW or Disney cruises, I would have them keep a journal to present to their class when they returned. For the cruises, we'd collect information about each port of call or country we visited, get money from that country to show-and-tell, etc. At WDW, a trip around the World Showcase at EPCOT was VERY educational, and same thing.....keep a journal and log each "country" we visisted at WS. Mikella will be 6 and starting 1st grade when she and I take this trip in Sept. so we will be doing some of this to present to her class as well! I'm excited!

September is such a low crowd time anyways, I think going against the "recommended" parks is more than fine! We September because the waits for rides are low, and many attractions are walk-on.

All your plans look great! We too plan on going to evening EMH on Sunday September 18th at MK and the evening EMH at DHS on Monday 9/19 -my little one cannot miss the dance party, she's a dancing queen LOL
Maybe I'll see you and spot your pin! I'll make it into a game of I Spy for my two little ones, lol
