September 10 - 17 for us at POR. Just DS and I this trip. We love September at WDW. It is a multi-purpose trip.... Birthday celebration for me. For DS, who worked at WDW last year in the CP, a chance to visit his friends who still work there. We can't wait! :thumbsup2

We have had excellent meals at Sci-Fi on our last 2 trips and will definitely be headed back there on this trip. The steak salad is very good, I always get it. DH has had the steak and the shrimp pasta and really enjoyed them both. And the milkshakes are the best. :thumbsup2

As far as CS, I have yet to find a good one at DHS. :confused3

Will you tell me more about Sci-Fi? I've heard a lot of people talk about it, but I don't know if it'd really be for us. Hmm?

:welcome: I have you added to the first post! Please, make yourself feel at home around here! We're a pretty chatty group. :cutie: We'll be at WDW the same time!

I have a weird sci-fi question. How many people fit at a table? It looks almost like bench seating and although we don't mind splitting up, I don't prefer it.

Thanks for all the DHS dining info.

There are cars to sit in and tables too. We always ask for and get a car. The kids sit in the front seat and are the "drivers". DH and I sit in the back seat and are the "passengers". Some of the cars have 3 rows of seats and you can get "hitchhikers" in the back! It is kind of dark in there and there are little movie skits playing. We really enjoy the atmosphere and always get excellent service and food.

Here's the link to my review/pics of it from November. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2605751&page=31

Hope that helps. :goodvibes

TY

TY now I have my fingers crossed that the air fares are kind so we can keep the trip as is and not have to play with the dates.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that my airfare cooperates and comes down so we don't have to mess with our dates either!:wizard:

Sheila--- Hope you are feeling better!!!
And congrats on adding days!! :cool1:

Welcome to the Newbies!!!:cool1:

This is exactly why I only have planned half of a day there on our trip. I don't see too much for us either. I'm actually debating on eating CS in DHS that day or just eating lunch when we get back at Everything Pop. Thoughts?

We love Sci Fi! They have really good burgers, awesome shakes, and the ambiance is super cool. We've sat in both the cars, and at the regular tables and we enjoyed both equally. It's a little easier for me to control DS at the tables, but the cars are pretty neat to eat in!

momof2disboys - thanks for the link to the pics. I feel like I "get" the seating more now. I also never realized they would let kids split a kids meal. With a ds-8 who alternates between ravenously hungry and picking like a bird that is great info, as he can sometimes split with dd-3. She usually just picks at her food and my one year old only eats what other people have ;) so I can't imagine ordering her a meal anyway.

Great, I think you just added another oop ts to my adr list :rotfl:

Oh yeah, you can order/not order whatever you want! Lots of times the kids will split a meal. Or DS9 & I will split a meal. Sc-Fi is the first place that has ever actually split it for us, and I didn't even ask!

Sorry to make you add another OOP meal! :rotfl: It really wouldn't be that expensive of a meal if it weren't for the nearly $5 each milkshakes! :scared1: But they are so good. ::yes::

We are Scifi lovers too! The wait staff has always been super helpful and splits the entrees in the kitchen for us. They also let my ds and I each order a shake and count one as a drink and one as a dessert on the DDP. We have always had great meals there and love the atmosphere. We will have 8 people this time 4 adults and 4 kids, I hope we can get 2 cars next to each other because I really don't want a table. I'm making our ADR for right when they open.

lol this is the best thread :D I really need to start posting more, but it's so much fun to just read!

Welcome to the new travelers!

Just thought I'd show everyone our candy stash from MNSSHP in 2008.

Here's my story--
I wanted to go see the characters. DH wanted to ride the rides. Kids wanted to ToT.
I MADE DH ToT with all of us b/c he was grumpy-- he needed sugar!!!

After going thru the first line and seeing all the candy they gave him , he was the biggest kid of all, getting in line, checking out the CM's to see whose hands were bigger so they'd give him more candy....:lmao:

Anyway- here's our haul. It filled the halloween bag- the one with Mickey on it (the Tink one was the one they gave out at the gates, the halloween one was a purchase with purchase at the resort gift shop). I think it was 20 pounds of candy to be honest.

So yeah--- adults trick or Treat too.:goodvibes
My DH will tell anyone and everyone that it is his favorite memory of WDW.

that is a crazy amount of candy! This is why I want to do it close to the beginning of our trip rather than at the end. How would we get it on the plane?!?!? :confused3:rotfl:

I stole it from another DISer, just don't remember who.

So does anyone have any meals they recommend at DHS? I may just pack a light dinner the night we are there and grab a snack. I don't mind blowing money on food at the parks, but not on gross food

Great idea for the countdown!

We loved 50's Prime Time and DH wants to do it again this year!

I was wondering maybe it would be better to do it OOP and use DDP for breakfast that day?? So shakes are not included on the plan...just main course, dessert and drink per usual? I thought maybe because it was cheaper it might be included? :confused3

I was excitied before but now I'm even more excitied as we decided to change are resort from Pop Century to POFQ for are Sept 8 -25 trip! I'm super excitied to be staying at POFQ now and try somewhere different!! Sept. can't come soon enough! haha

I think it is 2 and 2. I like my space when I eat and will still probably have a extra 10 fingers in my plate. For some reson my youngest always want to eat what I have.

That is awesome we may upgrade to a moderate also. We are there for 10 days and we like pop. But for that amount of time we will probably end up doing a moderate. Plus I save a ton on airfare.

Yesterday I went to Old Navy and they had tank tops on sale! Bought up 5 for our trip! They were each under $5!

We usually take it easy when we go to MNSSHP since it is a late night. We usually spend the day leisurely at the resort, maybe a couple of hours at DTD, and rest a bit. We always have an ADR at MK for the night of the party for around 5 so we are done by the time the party starts.

Thanks for replying!
I was thinking MK at opening, stay until noon or so and then back to the resort to nap & swim. Now I am thinking maybe I shouldn't waste a day's park ticket on just that morning?
