September 2011 - The Planning Has Started!!!

Mid day breaks are kind of a pain in my opinion! All the travel time back and forth seems like such a waste of time. So what we do is either open a park or close a park, but not usually both on the same day. Rather than going to MK at RD, traveling back to the hotel around 1 or 2, then traveling back to MK at 5 or 6, then back to the resort after fireworks -- we just go to MK at RD and stay until about 2, then have the evening free. Then another day we will sleep in, have the morning free and head to MK around about 2 and stay until closing. That way we've been there in the morning when it's less busy and we've also been there at night to see the parade/fireworks. Then we do the same for Epcot and DHS.

We feel the same about mid-day breaks, and pretty much plan our trips the same way. That's why we extended our trip to 10 days this time, so we wouldn't have to fit so much in one day per park! We also have a stroller for the little one (DS2 this trip, DD was 2 last trip) to nap in, and last time she did, every day. Really hoping he takes after his sister!

Missoutandabout -- Hey! Nice to see you again!

L-Harper -- When we watch Wishes from the park, we watch it from the train station end of Main Street. We stand across the street from the train station and then we can make a pretty quick exit after the fireworks.

Of course, for Hallowishes, we try to get right in front of the castle but that's mostly because we aren't planning on heading out right away.

I really like this idea! I feel like I'm WAY over planning, but I just want to have a few different options. I obviously have NO idea what to expect or how my boys will do since this is our first trip. This is why I love you guys, you really keep me thinking! Thank you!:grouphug:

And you as well, MissLiz... one of the September 2010 crew. :dance3:

Speaking of Hallowishes, we missed out last year so hoping to catch it this year. Well, after booking the trip that is.

I'm hoping to add my name to the list soon. ;)

I see some familiar names from last September! :lovestruc

Just trying to figure out the logistics of a split stay (possibly) between BC and Poly.

I'm getting too excited already... and we have nothing planned yet, how lame is that? :rotfl:

Welcome! Just jump on in and join the fun. :cool1: Hopefully you officially get to join us as a September traveler!

Would you be able to clarify a little more for me? Do you mean still inside the park? I'm looking at the map and I'm not quite sure what you mean.

Hi Everybody! This is my first ever to post on the disboards :yay: I'm a newbie at this! This is my DD(4) first trip to Disney and she is soo excited. We are staying at the Grand Floridian Sept 17-24 :cool1: The last time I was at Disney was 1995, so I am also superexcited!

Welcome!!!!:welcome:

To the newbies!

I don't really like breaks either. With the September heat we usually start the day early and stay till 1 or 2. Then back to the pool. In the evening we usually head to another park for dinner only. With the low crowds we don't feel like we have to stay all day. We get so much done and we don't usually stay for the afternoon parades. Plus now that the boys are older character meets are definately not a priority.:sad2:

Sorry, I always do that. I know exactly where I'm talking about and nobody else does. :rotfl:

When you look at the park map, you see the grassy area right inside the park by the train station? The parade goes between the area we stand and the train station.

Yes, you are still inside the park. We always watch the parade facing the train station and then turn around to face the castle for the fireworks.

Let me know if I'm still not making any sense. I do that sometimes.

This makes perfect sense! Thank you!!! :cool1:

I am absolutely miserable lol the DIS is my happy place :cloud9:

We insist on midday breaks. I don't think me OR DS, and now DD would make it through the day without it. We do take extended trips, though. 9 nights, 10 days. So we plan our days around having rests in the middle. I tried to go all day once. It ended with me and my BFF fighting in Epcot and eating dinner at separate tables and then DS puking all over the bus line on the way back to the resort. :sad2: It was not pretty. The heat makes you extra tired.

The end of pregnancy is so miserable, and seems to last FOREVER! I hope it goes as smoothly as possible for you!

Thanks for all the feedback on midday breaks, LOTS of helpful opinions! :goodvibes

I just paid off our trip!! Man...that feels SO good!!!!:banana:

I just need to get flights now! I was waiting until they posted flights for our return home, but they went up $10 since last week. Boo!

I was so not this miserable with DS. I cry every single day, at least three times a day. This is NOT normal for me lol. My mother says I have a heart of stone.

Yep, that's why we have to go for 10 days this time! :rotfl: No need for mid day breaks, each park can have 2 (or 3) half days! :yay:

Hello! :cool1:

I'm new around here, but we're planning our first WDW trip for September 17-24 at Animal Kingdom Lodge (finally decided )
I've been once when I was a kid, but my DH and kids have never been (DD 6 DS 4 DS 2) We'll be heading down to celebrate being a family - we adopted all three lovely kiddos from foster care - and our adoption was just final in December 2010. First thing we said once they were officially ours? We have to go to Disney! Okay, maybe not the first thing... we did some "Praise God!" and "Finally!" as well :)

We can't wait! Haven't told the kids yet, but DH and I are now Disney obsessed :cheer2:

Congratulations on the recent adoptions. What a great surprise for your children. I hope you have a great vacation.pixiedust:

Ok... I need help again. This is what I'm thinking now, and want to see if this sounds ok and then I'll fill in all of the details. I know that MK on the 8th isn't really recommended, but we MUST do MK on our first day! :goodvibes We will be having 3-4 hour long mid-day breaks on all park days.

7 - Wednesday ~Hang out at Pop - Dinner at another resort
8 - Thursday ~ Magic Kingdom
9 - Friday ~ Magic Kingdom
10- Saturday ~ Animal Kingdom
11- Sunday ~ Epcot
12- Monday ~ Epcot
13- Tuesday ~ Hollywood Studios
14- Wednesday ~ Favorite Park and move to AKL
15- Thursday ~ Hang out at Animal Kingdom Lodge and Downtown Disney
16- Friday ~ Pack and enjoy AKL more

Hi LHarper. I hate to leave Disney World without revisiting the Magic Kingdom. I try to reserve the next to the last day in the Magic Kingdom so that I can soak up the Disney atmosphere before we head back home to Vermont.

We are the same way, MK is our last day. I also might suggest that if you have little ones you visit some of the other parks first--they don't quite live up to MK afterwards.

Oh man, I hear you. I felt fantastic with my first pregnancy, honestly better than when I wasn't pregnant (after I got through the first trimester). I joked that I'd be fine staying pregnant a couple extra months. The second one was horrid, though. Especially the third trimester. I was 3-4 cenimeters dialated and 70% effaced the entire last month of that pregnancy. That last month felt like an entire year. I hope there are things to distract you until your babe decides to make her appearance!

I got hit by 2 cars last year, so I have a lot of back problems. It's making my sciatica AWFUL. She's also been low the entire pregnancy, which was good because I could breathe, but bad because the pressure on my hips is abnormally painful. Of course now DS has winter break this week and doesn't go back to school until 2 days after my due date. Thanks Board of Ed! lol
