September 2011 - The Planning Has Started!!!

Last time it took about 20 hours but we stopped a lot as I was still nursing Clara (then 6 months) fairly often and we also had an emergency *oh my gosh where are all the stinkin' binkies* trip to target.

This time I am packing dinner and hope to shave some time off of the trip. We plan on leaving around 3:30 so we will be arriving the morning of the 23rd. I am actually figuring out the plan for my state bags right now. Somewhere on the dis I read the tip to have the kids open a goody bag at each state line, so I am trying to figure out what I should pack in each state's bag.

I also decided instead of monthly countdown we are going to do them weekly. I like Friday movie nights anyway and there are so many classics the kids haven't seen yet. So starting next week we'll have 25 weeks of countdown parties!

We are driving down also. It sould take us just over 10 hours. I was wondering how many people are going to be driving.

Cool!

Were driving this year too. This is the first time we have driven to Disney since 2006. It takes us about 18 hours too. I like the drive and then we can stop and see a few sites on the way home.

Oh, do you take I-75? We were going to shoot over that way last year, head down through central GA ... stop at the Cabbage Patch hospital, drive the Russell - Brasstown Scenic Byway. It didn't pan out though.

I love all those ideas. I know the pain of driving down with a nursing baby. :headache: And we had to make the binky stops last year too. Funny!

we're driving from Maine. last year it took us 24 hours. we stopped half way through. it was a great road trip, can't wait to do it again. we are thinking of taking the auto train home this time.

Welcome!

What day do you plan on attending MNSSHP? If you know I can add you to the list and you can see who else will be at the same party! :)
Probably on 9-27, we're not totally sure yet. We're also doing the Pirates and Pals Fireworks cruise, but that's on Monday the 26th. We also have 4 birthdays to celebrate, so we've got lots of activities to plan!

So, I have another pic for you guys ...:goodvibes

Yes, I am a bit of a Disney nut :rolleyes1 and I was so excited on my very first trip ever to WDW in 2007 I put a magnetic lime green dry erase board on our door. This pic was taken at the beginning of the week...later in the week the board was full of signatures and it was a great way for other Dissers to say "hello"! There were so many friendly comments :grouphug: We had a great time with it!

So, I'm excited about displaying the buttons! :woohoo:

Love that green board! What a great idea!

Ok, I ordered 3 buttons! Probably put one on the stroller, one on our lanyard or backpack or camera strap (since my camera is ALWAYS out anyways! LOL!), and one to display in the window at POP, hopefully on a stuffie or a towel animal!

OOO thanks for the camera strap idea. that is the one thing I know I will have with me at all times!

I am thinking of using a magnet pad of paper so I can save the notes in my scrapbook of our trip. I am also gonna try and make something similar to the button cause I can't copy the graphic but I want a window cling BIGGER then an INCH in my window. I really wish the buttons were a bit larger, not sure I will find that button on any of you:confused3 I am getting excited and hoping I get everything I want for ressie's MOnday is my day!

ok, the magnetic pad is an awesome idea! I agree about the button size - i don't want people to think i'm nuts because my eyes are roaming all over them looking for a green mickey button Lol. Good luck with your ressies!

DH and I are going in Sept from the 17-24th . Its our first anniversary and our first trip to the world! so excited. My college classes have a break from labor day until the last Monday in Sept, so i thought the latest week we could go would be the best time for us. :thumbsup2

We were going to go in may of this year, but DH got a job in Oregon (we are from the California Bay Area) so it got moved to Sept because we had to spend money moving and buying furniture and what not.

So we haven't actually booked anything yet! :sad2: My income is going to pay for the trip, so I just have to save about 900 each month starting in April.
But DH and I have talked a lot, and this is something for sure. I feel like such a cotton headed niggy muggin  for saying these are our dates when we havent booked anything yet :guilty: but trust me, my first paycheck ( i get paid monthly - boo) is going to Small world vacations.

I was also kind of waiting until they announced the free dining plan, which i'm guessing is going to happen around May-ish. (and now i don't feel so bad, lol i have at least one good reason to wait) If I book something now, can I add the free dining plan to it when they announce it?

We will be there Sept. 24th-27th and we are staying at Pop Century!

:welcome: to our group!

In for September 17 through September 24 at POFQ! Have MNSSHP tickets gone on sale yet?

Unfortunately, Disney has already offered free dining for 2011 back in 2010. It is unknown if they will re-release it, but I know alot of people are hoping they do! And yes, if you book now, you can apply any new promotions that come out to your vacation.

I have been told that you can change your booking to any current promo when it is offered. So yes you can book and then if FD comes out you can just add it on... if not, you aren't out anything....

Awesome! thanks guys. I get paid on the first of next month so i have to wait until then, as long as anything unexpectedly comes up.

I put you down for the 27th! :cool1:
Let me know if you need me to change it later! :)

I thought I would share a picture of one of the surprise buckets "Mickey" ;) left for our DDs on our 2009 trip:

There was a card from Mickey, glow sticks, Mickey Halloween coloring book, lollipop, etc. :)

If you do room only you can apply any room only discounts. If you book a package you can apply package discounts. To switch from a room only to a package (and vice versa) you have to cancel and book it, those two things cannot be transferred. I learned this one the hard way :rolleyes1

So, when you had to cancel did you lose the deposit you put down or did they transfer it over? Just curious, I doubt they will off FD again but good to know if they do.

BTW, I so totally told everyone two days ago about how warm it was! Silly me, it turned cold and sleety again. See what happens when you brag.
