September 2011 - The Planning Continues! (2nd Thread)

We were just talking about what to get souvenier wise. I will probably go crazy since it is DS first trip! DH will have to contain me!! My sis and I will be doing pressed pennies. Oh, ds will have his ears from his first haircut too! (nice reminder Dizzie!) I told DH when we went on our first trip together that when we brought our child one day that we would for sure get them a Mickey balloon!
I will also be doing some Christmas shopping while I am there.

Not having a computer is really making keeping up with the dis hard. Luckily i should have it back this weekend bc checking from my phone isnt the best method!

DS finally can say mickey loud and clear! I am super excited about that. I also downloaded the touringplan app for my phone so ill have all the wait times and fastpass times at my fingertips! I also dwnloaded an app called mousewaits which tells me the nearest bathroom as well as food place i am closest to from where im standing. It also has all the menus on it. I am so very ready for September!

As far as souveniers go.. i always buy an ornament as well as photo album bc i like the dated merchandise. We get ears as a family, i pick out a sweatshirt and a few special pins (i never trade). DS im sure will get more then he needs bc my parents are joining us and hes the first grandchild so he is beyond spoiled! DH spends his souvenior money on beers! i really want to grab some 40th anniversary things this trip as well.. other than that the rest is spent on tips andsnacks.

Thank you! downloading mousewaits now! I am loving the idea of having the menus on the app! Not that I dont know most of them by heart :rolleyes1

Ohhh Sooooooo cute!!! Love it Love it Love it!!:thumbsup2

Thank you!

Basketkat!! You are so crafty. We all should have hired you to make our costumes. Think you could squeeze out an adult tinkerbell costume? :rolleyes1

Aww what a great compliment! I really have fun making things....it's just the cleaning up afterwards that is a drag!!! Hahaha!:rotfl:

I will get right on your costume! ;)

Awww, basketkat, that outfit is too adorable! It makes me miss having small girls in the house. :cloud9:

Thank you! I know they grow up way to quickly!

LOVE them! Great job!!!

Thank you!!!:flower3:

Love the Tink costume and matching trick or treat bag!!

Wings would complete the outfit perfectly! Just make sure the wings will fit nicely somewhere. I have seen so many parents carrying around wings and other parts of costumes because they don't fit in the stroller or a bag. I remember carrying around part of my son's costume because he didn't like the feel of it.

Oh thanks!!! I didn't even really think about that! I will have to check it out! :confused3

basketkat: I love your daughter's costume! It is absolutely adorable! Great job!

Thank you so much!!!! :yay:

Basketkat - Great job! I am sure dd will look beautiful. You're going the 27th right? She'll be easier to spot than a LGMH :) She'll be a LGTB :thumbsup2

Yes the 27th for us!!! Too funny! I am going to call her my little LGTB...my husband will *really* think I have lost it! :rotfl:

Question....we haven't used ME in years. Anyway, two weeks ago I called Disney to add our flight information. The lady said everything was updated, but when I checked my Reservations online, it says that I don't have any ME information given. Should I call Disney just to confirm?

I would call again, just to make sure. A couple weeks ago all my reservations had vanished; resort, dinner, airline...everything! I called and all was well. But they may have failed to dot an i or cross a t, so I say better safe than sorry.

For everyone who loves Disney music, have you heard of Dcot.com? They let you choose your favorite music that is played at WDW or DL. You can hear the music from Main Street or the entire dialog from It's Tough to Be a Bug. It's great! Really puts you in the Disney mood...as if we need anything along those lines!:rotfl:

ETA: For souvenirs we always get an ornament for ourselves and each grandchild. We'll have a new grandchild this year and will get the "baby's first Christmas" for her. We have been getting mugs, but may not this year. I always go crazy with things for the grandchildren ages 4, 2 & almost 2. (I even bring along an extra duffle bag to hold it all!) I'm going to try pick a pearl this year and get some measuring spoons to match my measuring cups I got last year and maybe a couple of kitchen towels too. I'm sure I'll come up with more once we're there. Great question!

This is new to me!! Going to check it out right now!!! I love Disney music!!! :surfweb: Thanks for sharing!

Playing with mousewaits now! How the heck am I going to get any work done today? Even DH (the D is silent) thinks it is a cool app. :cool1: Thanks for the tip.:thumbsup2

Ooh, I hadn't heard of this. I'll check it out (it looks like it's found at www.d-cot.com).

I use Live365 for Disney music. It's awesome. You just search "Disney" or any related term and all their free Disney music stations come up.

There are so many things I haven't done. I think the three most shocking are Soarin', Test Track and TSMM because they are all "must do's" I plan on crossing at least one of them off my list this trip

I was ready to pack back in April when we booked :lmao:

We are doing ALOT of things we've NEVER done this trip starting with staying Club Level. :woohoo:
My kids were too small so we've never done a water park. We are going to TL on 9/7
We decided to book dining in restaurants we havent previously tried we booked: dinner
9/6 Whispering Canyon
9/7 Boatwrights
9/8 Spirit of Aloha
9/9 Rose and Crown
9/10 'Ohana
Breakfast last day
9/11 1900 Park Fare
We had BOMA for 9/7 but the menu scared me and I'm not a daring eater so we took the safe route and booked POR. We wanna take a boat ride to DTD after.

I cant believe its 39 days!

I'd like to try the jalopeno pretzel bites at AK.

We've never done the KP for UK, France or Morrocco.

Eat at Le Cellier. Had ADRs twice and cancelled each time.

Like to try a Mickey Cake Pop.

Try a PB&J milkshake at 50'sPTC.

Try out the new Dinner and Movie at AMC theater.

Phineas and Ferb meet and greet

Winnie the Pooh meet and greet at DHS.

We are not trying to do things we haven't done before except MNSSHP, but while we were there in June we missed some things we love to do so we are trying to hit them this time. We want to make sure we do the Finding Nemo show and Mickey's Philharmagic. Other than that nothing new. We usually stay much longer so we are able to get in most things we want to do which is really nice.

Yes! Two of our favorites (and not just for the A/C).

I think all the parks now have cake pops. The candy store on Main St. had marble cake, red velvet or just cake pops when we were there last week. I took pics. The oreos with fudge in the middle looked yummy too! As did the carrot cake cookies!!

I don't know if they are the same thing but I made mickey cake pops for my little girls' birthdays in march. So good mmmmm. Bakerella has some great Disney cake pop recipes/ideas.

September 5th cant come soon enough!! Celebrating 2nd Wedding Anniversary @ our fave Wilderness Lodge Villas!!

Welcome Home!!

Thanks, now I know what a cake pop is and I am salivating a little, but I think I will stick with my choc/pb from Starring Rolls.
