September 2011 - The Planning Continues! (2nd Thread)

I just went to the Disney site to check all my dining reservations and it says I have no reservations at all.:scared1: It usually shows where I'm booked to stay as well as dining. Has anyone else experienced this recently?:confused3

there should be a link on the right side of your screen when in the disney res system (My Reservations) that says Update Reservations... if you click on it you should get a pop up and accept it... it will take a moment but your reses should pop up... hopefully that fixes it...

Add us to the list :D please

We are staying at Bay Lake Towers

25-30th

Me, Hubby, DD (who will be celebrating her 4th birthday on this trip), mother and father in law, sister in law and her family (but they are staying at another resort)

This is my first september trip. I heard it's really hot but the low crowds make it worth while. it's hard for me to imagine low crowds just because it seems like EVERYTHING booked up so quickly.

I'[m so glad our trip is in september because I don't know if I could make it until december when we usually go LOL.

Please add us to the list:

:welcome: to the thread! I have you both added to the first post! :dance3:

I have been following the POR resort thread for months now... they have said that the preferred room category is strictly in the AB section... so no way to have a refurbed room by Sept... as the first AB isn't started till Oct.

Darn it...maybe I need to cancel the preferred room. :confused3

;

OH....how I wish we would get a refurbished room! :cloud9: One can hope. We are booked for a preferred room, so maybe? :wizard: a little pixie dust will hit us.

I am really hoping for a refurbished room too. I initially called and requested a Mansion room..and then when I called the other day I got a really nice CM on the phone and requested Magnolia Building, specifically a refurbed room and he said there was no problem putting it down as a request...and I know that its just that-a request!

Please add me!

Sept 11-18 AKV Kidani Village.

(We are actually coming down a few days earlier to experience Universal). :wizard:

Celebrating 1st Anniversary and husbands 35th birthday!!

We are on a waiting list for the Concierge level for our first night as a treat and still hoping to scoop a room for the night of the 17th as this was recently added. Hoping for pixie dust. :tinker:

How many people have bought the buttons on the first page of this thread? Id love to meet up with other Disers! Im thinking of buying a few of them.

DD woke up this morning with a rash on her tummy - thought it might be a heat rash - when she came home from camp it was spread to her back... so thought best to have it checked out - believe it or not she has scarletina (aka the 1930s scarlet fever) :scared1: - guess the doc we saw has only seen like 100 cases in the last 10 years... nothing penicillian won't fix was told though - thank goodness she got it now and not in 64 days....

Wow! I'm glad that it doesn't sound like it will be serious. I am like you and fear that the boys will get sick or something crazy will happen so our trip gets canceled. :confused3

Last night was the first time I really started thinking about that! We are a healthy family, but we are going on a Disney cruise this time, which is a gamechanger. Apparently, we have to sign a form that states no one in our party has been sick within the last 24 hours or so. If there is any known or suspected illness, we can be denied boarding. Then, if we get on swimmingly, we can be quaratined if we get sick on the cruise. My mind was racing last night!

I get car and motion sickness, as does my daughter. I was even getting concerned that if she got sick in the car on our drive down that morning, that they would be able to tell and deny us. The issue is that we are going with a party of 10, which includes 1 six year old, 1 three year old, and 2 two year olds. That's a difficult job to make sure everyone is healthy at the same time, especially considering school and preschool will have already started for the year and could expose them to something.

For anyone who has done cruises before, is that an accurate assessment? Any other tips or info regarding passenger screening or health we should know about?

Just realized that I am under the 2 month mark

We have our DVC stay paid for, dining ressies made (just got the Wishes Dessert Party booked the other day!!!), park tix for Dis and Universal IOA bought and stowed away in my handy trip folder, I-Drive hotel ressie for the 2 days before our AKV stay booked and paid (will be doing WWoHP before hitting Disney), and the Disney gift cards (courtesy Chase Disney Visa) that will pay for our DDP at check in stored in the folder with the park tickets. Also ordered my new stroller (Britax B-Agile) from Amazon, which will be here in plenty of time (next Wednesday, actually).

Left to do:

* Make DD's 1st haircut appt. @ Main St. Barber Shop
* Set up something special for my Mom and Step-Dad's anniversary meal @ Chefs of France (bottle of wine? Cake?)
* Buy cheap glow stick/LED stuff, mister fan, and rain ponchos to take
* Figure out something for me to wear that will be comfy but also somewhat flattering in photos :P (definitely the biggest challenge of all the to-do items)

Not sure if you've seen this tentative schedule:

It looks like they should be done with Acadian House and Magnolia Terrace by the time of your trip and no other work appears to be scheduled during the month of September.

www.portorleans.org

we requested Alligator Bayou. I fell in love with the rustic look

I love the look of Alligator Bayou but we didn't request a specific section....hoping for a refurbed room on the Mansion side, maybe a call to reservations to speak with a CM is in order:idea:

That happens to me every so often but if I log out and back in they usually show back up....scared :scared1: me the first time it did it too, especially since I worked hard on them....lol

L-Harper: would you please amend our dates to show Friday, Sept 16 - Thurs, Sept 22? Had a small change in work plans that allowed for a day earlier arrival, so DH got that booked today!! :woohoo:

Now, to figure out where to eat for that first night....decisions, decisions! :rolleyes1

Dont get to worried about it. Our first DCL my then 2 yr old DD came down with hand to foot to mouth. She ran a fever of 102...nothing motrin couldn't help with. We weren't quarentine(sp) but then again I didn't say "hey look over here my DD is sick":rotfl: We kept her hands washed, and she wasn't sneezing or coughing, more of a rash kinda virus. I NOW ask my DR to write up an antibiotic just in case since I will be out at sea. They have always done it...something like a pill or the liquid meds that is pwder and liquid mixed...the pharmacist will put pwder in one container and liquid in other for me to mix if I need it. I have never needed it, I mean I am a good judge of what my kids have and if it's a basic virus, the meds don't help. Anyhow I like the comfort of having it. I wouldn't worry to much. We can't have control of everything so just make the best of whatever happens!! There is nothing like a Disney cruise, which is why we keep returning!!:thumbsup2

Hey guys! I think Ive got about everything settled except for the rental car we will have the first few days at Universal. Found at great rate of $70 for the weekend through Alamo. So excited about this. :cool1:

I think the only part still to wrap up for Disney is trying to get CRT dinner on September 11. No luck for 3 months. I check every day. *sigh* Little girls arent the only ones that want to eat with a princess. Us big kids enjoy it too. :cloud9:

You've been trying for 3 months?! There isn't much hope for us then.....been trying to get CRT dinner on Sept. 11th as well. We had an ADR for the week prior, but changed our dates about a week ago. I've been checking the reservation system several times a day too. Our preferred night is the 11th....but at this point, I'm willing to take anything between the 11th-15th!!:confused3

Thanks! I know, it will be fine. Just trying to make sure I'm mentally prepared for any possibility!

For those taking their kids for their haircuts: we took DD for her first haircut last September. She was about 18 months old. We loved it!!!

We did make an appointment right at park opening, but they didn't really ask for appointments when they opened, so we had to wait for two other kids that went first. Of course, since they charge for no shows, I made sure that I told them we had a reservation and they said "Oh! Why didn't you say something when we took the other kids?" Umm, yeah, it just wasn't worth the hassle.

Michal was who we had and he was fantastic!!! The first thing he did was just start sticking stickers everywhere on DD1:

Then, he gave her one of the spinning light-up toys to keep her occupied:

It didn't take very long before she earned her first haircut ears:

I wish we could do the first haircut again...but that would mean more kids and I just don't have the energy for that. :rotfl2:

Since we're on the topic of kid getting sick before Disney trips, i just have to ask... what is the general consensus on travel insurance? I really don't know if it's just a waste of over $100, or if anyone ever gets any worth out of it? If anything serious were to happen, I can always just drive down to WDW and retrieve our tickets, and we'd just be out the room rate, so i'm curious if anyone just wings it without insurance or if it's a must have for you. I have to call Disney and be honest in a little while (my ressie keeps showing up with an extra day that I have not been charged for, i want them to know and take it off:scared1:), so i thought I'd ask before I call and see what my lovely DISers do in the way of insurance for travel! :thumbsup2
