September 2011 - The Planning Continues! (2nd Thread)

Happy belated birthday, ThereYouSeeHer! Man, this thread took off!

Well, ONE sewing project is done! I could say two but her messenger bag still needs velcro sewn on. I better not consider that done or I'll forget about it!

This Tink dress is for MNSSHP. I am debating wings because I really don't want to deal with them in the packing process. Plus, she'll be in a stroller or rides most of the night. What do you guys think? Any ideas for comfortable, non-smashable wings?

That's our countdown chain hanging over the black cabinet. It used to hang almost to the floor! AAAAAAGH!!!
Thanks!!

That dress is so cute! About the wings---could you get soft foam, cut it into the shape of wings, and then cover it with some fabric? I imagine that a soft foam wing could be easy to roll up or store when needed?

Such a cute costume!! You have an adorable daughter! I'd skip the wings. Unless you can come up with something that velcros on and will fold to fit in your bag if she doesn't wear them.

Oh my! That tink dress is sooo cute. The fabric is really nice. Great Job!:thumbsup2

Thank you everyone! I am leaning at the moment towards skipping them for MNSSHP and getting them for Halloween at home and for general dress-up.

YAY!!! The AP rates were released today. I called at 9 am to modify. We got a HUGE savings. 6 nights AKL Club Level AP Dining Plan $2013.00. It came down $500.00. Wasnt expecting that. 68 days to go!!!!

Bork - Adorable - dress and daughter :lovestruc I'd skip the wings and go with a wand.

Happy Birthday to everyone I missed!!!

My saga continues and I still don't know which to choose (onsite or offsite). After changing ADRs for the 9834395th time I started to really loathe the 180 day mark and wish they had them about 15 days out lol.

I love Pigeon Forge, we normally go every fall and stay in a cabin when the leaves turn. We're skipping it this year, since we're hitting Disney instead. I may talk him into a weekend in October if I can. Their Disney outlet is great! I used to spend forever in Lil Dolly's, too, before the girls got old enough to protest the dresses!:lmao:

The drive through the mountains is always my favorite part of our trip to the East coast! :lovestruc

Very, very cute!!! Love it! :thumbsup2

okay, I have a problem with feeling like I "deserve" my disney trip. I am going Aug 31-Sept 6th.

I want to go to celebrate my ma, she passed away February 20th. I don't have anyone to go with at this time and I don't really want to wait, because if I wait for someone to go with me, I don't know when I will ever go to disney again.

I am into the dining, so I know I will fill my time with two meals a day *I have deluxe* including a signature for dinner. I also enjoy taking tons of pictures. I think I will be okay by myself, I go out all the time to eat and shop by myself. I just need a little encouragement to go and have a good time.

help!

Where are you staying when you are there? My DD-6 and I will be at POP from Sept. 3-8th before boarding the Disney Dream. I noticed you're from Bolingbrook.....We are from the Quad Cities, about 2 hours southwest of you! I'm very sorry to hear about your mother.

Yes, we had a good time. Gatlinburg was beautiful and we drove through and hiked parts of the Smoky Mountain National Park. Pigeon Forge was a little too commercial for my tastes, but we still had fun mini-golfing! We stayed in a cabin in Pigeon Forge/Sevierville. I saw the Tanger Outlets, but we didn't do any shopping, so I just didn't see it. Maybe next time!

My kids always enjoy the mini-golfing and go-carts! We always take the "scenic route" through the national park instead of driving the interstate like the rest of our family does. I prefer to go through the park, stop and take pics along the way, and look for animals! This year we saw 3 elk RIGHT BESIDE the road. You could walk right up to them. lol. We pulled over like a bunch of other people were doing to take pics. One boy had his camera about a foot in front of an elk. We knew not to touch them or feed them, but as we were getting in our van to drive off, the park ranger pulled up.....I can only assume to get the people to step back and let the elk enjoy their territory. :rotfl: Last year there was a black bear digging through the dumpster next to our hotel in Gatlinburg. So cool to see!

Going to have to check out the rates! Though I'm not sure the AP rate will be better than the bounce back rate. We got CSR for $104+tax a night on bounce back from our May stay.

Onsite or offsite for eating or staying? There are some really great places to eat and stay both onsite and offsite.

You did a great job!! :woohoo:
The dress and your daughter is adorable!

I sat down yesterday comparing TP to easyWDW and since F! is every night, it's changed the recommendations around a bit. I think I will be making some changes.

Also just checked the AP rates, and it would be $50 more a night to change to the AP rate. Be sure to check out bounce backs during your stay in Sept! Sometimes they are room only codes, other times they are full packages including dining.

We are thinking of adding another night. It will cost me 40.00 more in airfare to add a night. Then the extra 100.00 for the night. We would get home early Monday afternoon and Riley would start school the next day. At this point it seem like a good thing to do. Beacuse Sunday we won't get to our door til after 12pm. So then we would need to do a park and ride. I'm not going to make my dad drive in the dark that late. So the hotel at the park and ride is the same price.

Choices choices? It would put are stay back at a 10 day.

If it were me, especially traveling with small children...I would stay the extra night. Whether you arrive after midnight or Mon. afternoon, Monday is shot. Everyone will be well rested and make better travelers if you can have a relaxing (well, maybe) breakfast and then head to the airport. Also have you figured in that the extra night will give you another days worth of FQSDP that you can spread out over your trip? Plus, you can use the whole day Sunday enjoying the parks without the "I gotta go pack - we leave today" hanging over your head.

I second this! Since having DS we no longer take early morning flights anywhere, instead we leave after DH gets off of work the night before our planned trip. DS travels so much better when he is rested and not up earlier or later than his normal schedule. Besides, what is wrong with some extra WDW time?? :thumbsup2

I was looking at TP and I dont know what to do! :rotfl: Should I continue to plan our night at DHS during the EHM, which are till 12, or just go to DHS on a normal night when they are open till 9. We are planning another morning at DHS to guareentee that we get to ride TSM, but I dont know if heading to DHS at night is a waste and that I should just plan 2 mornings there. Suggestions??

I am NEW! I am also going in September 2011!! I haven' made a ticker yet, do i just click on it and follow the link? Thanks for any help! I am so excited this is our 2nd WDW trip and it's a surpise..But it's now less than three months away and I am having trouble keeping it from my DS8 and DS2 (although he doesn't really get it). I have been getting the ..mom why r u reading disney books?? Lmao...mom why did u buy a suitcase? I swear he hasn't put it together yet, but he might soon! I am 28 and DH is 31. So excited!!!!

I would stay another night at Disney then! If it's comparable in price, you'd probably be alot more happy and comfortable at Disney.

EMH really affects the crowd levels of the parks. I live near WDW, and went to Epcot on Tuesday. It felt like Christmas crowds! Of course it is July 4th crowds already, but there is a definately affect on crowds for EHM.

What are you hoping to accomplish at night at DHS? If you are going to ride the attractions only, I'd pick another day. If you are going to see F!, I'd do a F! package so that you don't have to arrive so early to get a seat. TSM is still a huge draw, and those FP disappear so quickly. You would still need to arrive to the park early to ride TSM, without a 60 minute or so wait as you already have planned another day.

I hope you can keep the surprise! When I made a clicker I just clicked someone else's ticker that I liked, and it took me to a site to make my own. I think the DIS has tickers too, but not sure what the link is. Sorry.
