September 2011 - The Planning Continues! (2nd Thread)

The pool activities are why we loved ASMu, but now that they are at all the All Stars, we figured we would try Movies too, and the recent room updates helped that decision too! I know we may not get a renoed room but that is okay too!

Do they give you a activity sheet at check in?
Thanks

I really just need to stop over-analyzing everything... seriously. I know that we are going to have an awesome time no matter where we're staying.

I keep debating about changing our resort. We're currently at Pop, but the All Stars sound like so much fun. If we did switch, it would be to Movies. Hmm... What to do? What to do? My TA has got to be getting SO annoyed with me. :lmao:

Don't worry I have changed about 4 times now. Back and forth from CBR twice. At the end of the day we just have alot of finacial obligations right now. So we are sticking with a value. We would have to pay for prefered room at ASMO beacuse that is all that is left. But 170.00 won't break me and it may be worth it for the extra's at the pool. We are also skipping MNSSHP and doing a DTD with t-rex,movie and pool day. So I'm on the fence to.
I would recommend staying at POP. It has its own bus service versus the All-Stars that share transportation services. Also, I personally don't like paying extra for preferred rooms. Being closer to the pool isn't always a good thing, since they can be noisy during the day at nap time or at night when you are trying to sleep. I haven't found any of the non-preferred rooms to be far away from the pool or bus service. They are all relatively close.

So, for both of your scenarios, I would stay at POP. You'll love it!

I also didn't think about the fact that I'm part of a free Pop fridge swap. I wouldn't be able to do the fridge swap if I went to ASMo. I'm just sticking and I'm going to be happy about it. :rotfl2: Unless we can magically find $500 in our couch so we can upgrade to CBR. :lmao:

I here you with that one. Our upgrade is 750.00 beacuse we are sticking with the QSDP. I have stayed at the moderates and while I do like them. In the end 750.00 is alot of money. :3dglasses

When we decided to try another resort besides pop we went to ASMu because of all the activities they had by the pool! We paid for a preferred room so we were in the buiding closest to the foodcourt and bus stops and the pool was just steps from our room. It was great! I'm so excited they're doing the activites at all the All Stars now :thumbsup2

We thought the kids would pick the All stars again this year but they really wanted to go back to Pop so we went with their choice. However, I am looking forward to the movies on the beach and S'mores at BC so I guess we'll get the best of both worlds during our split stay this year :goodvibes

We are sticking with pop but those activites are fun!

Hey all!

Yesterday, I was talking to my DH and I asked him if he would consider staying another night in September. We were scheduled to leave on Friday the 23rd. He, of course, said....."Why aren't we staying until Sunday anyway?" I had to inform him that when we made our original reservation, we were paying cash and I was trying to save some money.

He laughed and said "Book it!"

So, I called Member Services this morning and couldn't book BLT for the extra nights, so I waitlisted that and I booked us at Saratoga Springs for the last two nights. That will make three, count 'em, three! resorts that week (unless the waitlist comes through), but we are staying two more nights!!! Woo HOOO!!!

Awesome!!! If I had thought it through a bit more , we would have came down friday and left sunday---giving us 2 extra days. Kinda stuck with what we have now, since we already have air:mad:

Hi, I just found this thread! We'll be going from the 17th to the 24th this year! Originally it was supposed to be my sister and I, but she unexpectedly found out she was pregnant last month, and she's already 4 months along! Being due on September 13th makes it a no go, but my brother graciously stepped in :rotfl2:. He's 26 and never been, so he's pretty excited!

That is so awesome! Congratulations! You and your brother are going to have a blast! I really want to take my younger brother back! Maybe a duel graduation trip when he gets his undergrad and i finish my masters!

Just finished sorting out all of our ADRs. It took forever, but it will be well worth it come September. All of them are new to us except Chef Mickey's. Also gave are reason for choosing, if anyone has anything positive or negative opinion of these restaurants please tell me.

Sat. 730p Capn' Jacks - Read mixed reviews, but love seafood.
Sun. 550p 50's Primetime - Sounds amazing!
Mon. 915a Tusker House - Can't wait for Mickey waffles!
Tue. 430p Coral Reef - Mixed reviews again, great atmosphere.
Wed. 755p Chef Mickey's - We love!
Thur. 810p 'Ohana - Can't wait to try, this was the best time I could manage.
Fri. 1230p Yak & Yeti - Looks so yummy!
Sat. 715p 1900 ParkFare - Can't wait to meet Cindy!
Sun. 105p Sanaa - Read good reviews, great atmosphere.

Your ressies look great! We love Coral Reef! The food is really good ( my boyfriend always gets the steak, I've had salmon and chicken there, both really good) and the atmosphere is amazing. 50's is great atmosphere, and hopefully you'll get a waiter/waitress who gets into it. The food is alright. I enjoyed the fried chicken a lot and my boyfriend wishes he would've got the same thing as me. I think he just got a charboiled steak. Nothing special. I do remember we got cocktail shrimp as an appetizer and we got the most pathetic looking thing in the world, hardly any shrimp just laying on a saucer plate...no presentation at all! We liked Chef Mickeys,,,can't be beat for characters! And loved Ohana...be warned though its almost too much food!

We are booked for 9/28-10/3. We were originally at AMS family suite but I just rented points to upgrade to Old Key West 1 bedroom villa. So excited. The room size almost double with AMS 520 sqft and OKS 920 sqft.
Last trip we stayed at OKW...loved it! Loved the laid back tropical atmosphere. Very Florida, if that makes any sense! I was wondering if you'd share the process you went through renting points. I'd like to learn more about that to see if that might be for us !

Just booked our Sep 17-22 trip today! :woohoo: DH and I are staying at Port Orleans - French Quarter & can't wait to see the updated rooms. Of course, we're attending MNSSHP on the 20th -- 3rd time for this party; we just LOVE it!!
Hope to see / meet some of you while we're there,
Angel :eeyore:
We're going the same time! Staying at Riverside, and going to the Halloween Party same day!! Any advice for a first time partier?

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

Also I know yesterday was Memorial Day but I wanted to thank all the DisBoard members, their families, and those that have family members that serve in our armed forces. Thank you so much!

That stinks!

We are lucky that we are able to drive it in about 6-7 hours, so there aren't a lot of logistics if we make any changes.

I'm kind of hoping that our BLT waitlist comes through, though so we don't have to change resorts another time. But we like Saratoga Springs, so it's not the end of the world if it doesn't.

We're not much further than you, so little schedule changes are easier to come by for WDW. Next year we're cruising to Alaska, so we'll have the logistical fun from GSP to SEATAC with two kids who have never been in a plane that wasn't piloted by their GF. :rotfl: I thought about trying to stretch out one more day, but I can't seem to make it fit. We're going to do a day at the WWoHP, and one at the beach, and I'm already pushing it trying to get that many in a row with my favorite people. I'm trying not to cram too much in, I really would like to relax some!:lmao:
Side note: It hit the century mark here today, it's going to be a scorcher of a summer!:cool1:
