Why is it that I have the feeling that many, many people hold on to ADRs that they KNOW they will not be needing in the hopes of being able to use them as poker/bargaining chips to get ADRs that they DO want?
I know in my case, when I was looking for CM desperately at a better time for us (and by luck got it!), it was more of a matter of:
1) I had it at a different time that wouldn't work well, but something was better than nothing so I wasn't giving it up without having the other and I was hoping someone would just switch because the time didn't matter to them. Which, by the way, I did for someone else. They didn't have exactly what I wanted/needed, but I still had *something* that wasn't any worse than what I had, and I was able to grant them exactly what they needed. I was no worse off and they had their needs completely fulfilled.
OR
2) I was willing to sacrafice other ADRs that we would use because the ADR I was looking for was that much more important to me. I was hoping my second choice/not as important choice would mean more to someone else to get what I wanted. Again, hoping for pity. I know some people get mutliple ADRs at a favorite restaurant.
Then there is also the following reasons:
3) Plans change. When the Fantasmic schedule was altered on me, I had a lot of things that needed (and still does) rearranging. I can work with what I have, but it's not ideal. So, I take what I have to look for what I want. If I don't get what I want, I keep what I have. If in the end I decide it is not workable (and I go through it multiple times a day), I put it up for someone else. I'll wait up to 2 days before I just out and out cancel.
OR
4) Wierd circumstances. I have one with food allergies. That means A LOT of TS restaurants. However, this time around we are staying at the Fort Wilderness Cabins and will have a full kitchen. I'm thinking I may have over scheduled meals that we normally eat TS because of that kitchen. I'm trying to figure our which meals I can cancel, if any. Sometimes it's hard to cancel because you know there is a good chance, or no chance, that you won't be able to take advanatage of the kitchen when your party is hungry. When park hours are short, you need to decide what you are going to sacrafice in order to take advantage of the kitchen, which isn't an easy thing to do. Especially when Fantasmic/Spectro are limited and you have MNSSHP in the mix. Then you've got the meals you think are best to give up due to day/time, but it's someone's "must have" meal, so it takes forever to figure out what you will/won't do. Weighing all the pros and cons isn't easy and it can take a while.
I promise, when I know I'm absolutely positively NOT using something, I give it up as quickly as possible. But like I said, I offer it up here first.

We were looking for something great to do our last night and this is perfect!
