:scared1: glad to see all these great people on the boards, i've been haunting away here in the nether reaches reading about everyones trips and plans:surfweb: and i really havent posted cause, to be honest i figured it wouldnt happen. today got my docs in the mail  and can happily say that i am going to POP 9/16-9/22. :dance3: isnt it great? wait, that means :scared1: oh well, i guess iv'e got some planning to do!!!:lmao:
to poohbear, :flower3: prayers to you and your family, it is hard to lose friends and family so close together. remember that as you are acomfort to others, there are those whom you can lean on.

cant sleep..... :hyper: I should be prepping some stuff for the trippie but guess what am just staring at the monitor.. must be the mountain dew :drinking: have a good day peeps!!

As my children are all raised you would think there would be no distractions here. Of course there are those adorable grandchildren as well as the other neighborhood kids who have learned that they can come here for some spoiling and a tiny bit of education snuck in here and there. What do you do when it is late at night and your homework is not done? Who you gonna call? The Reading Lady, of course!! I have to watch out cause those sneaky little people try to get me talking about the subject, in great detail, so that they do not have to actually crack a book themselves.

ANTSS2001, families, what can you do? I have two bil's who are thinking about tagging along with us in December. Since they are of the mindset that women are terminally stupid it should be an interesting situation. :scared1: Sounds as if your trip might be a tad bit easier without so many different personalities. I believe in seperate, but equal, Disney vacations. Everyone can go but we only meet on prearranged occasions. Limits the pain. :rotfl:

Nienor, if you got paid it would diminish your sacrifice and might actually require a certain level of respect for your position in life. Hooray for ladies like yourself. You make the world a better place whether anyone notices or not. I do. :cheer2:

I have bushes to trim today. Fun. Hope of rain tonight. Please, please???

SG/Linda

If you have 26 days, that means we're at 25 ;) Gosh- in a way, I'm trying NOT TO COUNTDOWN anymore- because each day is sooo painful! LOL!

This week is kinda slow- but next week will be a bit busy because of nonschool stuff and then the next week, my kids start back up in school (2nd grade and 6th grade). OOOOH, those two weeks before we leave might DRAG for me without the kids fighting and hollering in the house! :rotfl:

Well!!! Yes I did... and emember about dsis 1 and dsis 2??? well.. dsis2 got mad at dsis 1 ( it was just a matter of time yah know...) So no who else is going dsis 1 and dmom !!!!!!!! Mama Mia!!!!!!!!! I need a drink! Well we all agreed that we're flying together but by the time we get there they better not call my name for anything!!! Uh Huh!! we'll see what happens next!

Hopefully everyone will get along for you ! :rotfl: If not we may be seeing alot of you at the Petals Bar !

I would if I had the time this week. I've had too many cub scout events, 3 1/2 hour Leader's Meeting Monday, Den Meeting Tuesday and Cub Olympics tonight. Feels like I should be getting paid for this or something.

Wow - you sound busy. I don't think I could be that motivated for something I'm not getting paid for !

Linda - That's sweet all the kids like to come to you for a little attention. Do you think I can fly mine in from Colorado :thumbsup2 I love to read to my DD. We just got the cutest book out of the library yesterday about a Porcupine name Cushion who is in a petting zoo. What worse place could a porcupine be so he is so lonely and goes looking for friends. It's really cute !

26 DAYS!!! (until September 12th!!!)

:thumbsup2 :woohoo: :thumbsup2 :woohoo: :thumbsup2 :woohoo:

I think we are at 28 ! :cool1:  :cool1:  :cool1:  Do you have everything ready ?

While I want to count the days and get excited I have thin constant nagging about everything I need to get done in the meantime ! :scared1:

:goodvibes you are so sweet to say thank you so much. Be sure to stop by the meet and greets on the 16th and the 21st at Petals Pool.

Msslaydbug, I am a kid magnet. When they look at me they see a woman they believe has a lot of toys. They are right. I love the story about the porcupine. A child cannot have anything better than to have a parent who reads to them. It is such a good start on life and what a lovely time you share while doing it. Priceless! I have a soft lap and a smile for any child so bring them on!

CathrynRose, if my math skills are correct I only have 22 days before we leave!!! Yikes! I almost have the alley bushes done. It is so dry and hot here that the bushes are actually stressed. I have never seen that before. Rain expected tonight. Please? Please?

Poohbear67, I told my sister about you and what I had said. She agreed. Red letter day, a sister agreed with me!! Wish you could pop by tomorrow evening as I am having a small dinner party to fulfill many things. Celebrate my dh's birthday early, a dear friends's birthday late, my dd's and sil's anniversary and fix the dinner my 10 year old grandson requested awhile ago. Just a simple dinner of Prime Rib Roast, sides, homemade bread and Baked Alaska for dessert. The child has such simple tastes. I have to stop letting him see the Food Porn thread. Gives him ideas.

Tht sounds like quite the dinner spread  You must be a good cook. Tonight at our house it's BBQ Chicken !

SlightlyGoofy,
How wonderful that you take time with the kids in the neighborhood. One of my favorite childhood memories was of the lady down the block who used to welcome me into her home and taught me to crochet (which I still remember thanks to her) and taught me how to make candy and other fun things that nobody else had the patience or the time to teach me. I loved her like a grandmother. Just think of all the warm memories you are creating for the children in your neighborhood as well as your own grandchildren.

angwill, the kids teach me more than I teach them. I hate to agree with Hillary Clinton on anything  , however it really does take a village to raise a child. The parents of most of these kids grew up in my home as well. I kept my kids close when they were growing up and that meant open house for their friends. I enjoyed those days. What a wonderful neighbor you had.

Msslaydbug, since I changed my 'evil ways' about 3 years ago and decided to lose weight and live long enough to see how my grandkids turn out I do not cook much at all. My one friend who is coming will enjoy the meal, my dh will be thrilled to have a home cooked meal at all but the rest of those ungrateful monsters I call family have already started their snipping. The oldest grandson informed me that he no longer likes chocolate cake (the base for the Baked Alaska) and I also have to prepare chicken fingers as that is all he has eaten since day one. Hope the smallest grandson likes his food. He is a bit of a gourmet and not at all shy about expressing his opinion. Kinds sucks the fun right out of it all. Wonder why I avoid cooking holiday dinners here? Last Thanksgiving I cooked my sil spent the whole dinner complaining cause he had already been to too many dinners already. He has a large and close family. Poor dear. :rolleyes1

Slightly Goofy and extremely sarcastic

Well, part of the busyness was for my benefit. I scheduled our first September Den meeting last week so I don't have to worry about one while I'm packing or away. I imagine that 3 1/2 hour meeting could have been 1 1/2 hours if we didn't spend so much time chatting, snacking and drinking wine. :rotfl:

I love being a Den Leader, it's fun working with the kids. Plus all of a sudden I have half a dozen new friends. :goodvibes

YAY!! Only 23 more days!

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH, it's getting so close- I can almost taste the...

Mojitos, Turkey Legs, Popcorn, Frozen Bananas, (Fill in the blank here)

Hope you are all doing great!
