September 2, 2012 - Magic - NYC to Canada

I grew up in Plymouth!! My parents are still in Plymouth and we are about 40 minutes away. It is a great town and a beautiful to place to live. I hope you had a great time.

Small World Department: DW's best friend recently took over as Director of Prilgrim Hall in Plymouth.

Hi everybody,

we will be on this cruise too - have just booked it a few days ago. Please let me introduce ourselves:
I'm Annika (38 at time of cruising) and DH (35), no kids, never been to Canada, never been to New York, and highly excited about this cruise!

This will be our third Disney cruise, we did a Western Caribbean last year and will be on a Mediterranean cruise this summer (only a bit over a month to go until we leave, getting more excited by the day).

Oh yes, and we're from Germany.

Best Regards
Annika

Welcome aboard Annika!!!!!!! :thumbsup2

You'll have a great time in New York. We went there last July for the 1st time and can't wait to go back. I know you'll love Canada since that is my home country....lol That's one of the reasons we picked this cruise because now we will be able to see a part of our country that I might not normally get to.

Here's a pic from our trip to NYC....

P.S. It is nice to know that there is someone to share in my true dislike of the Canadiens!! :lmao:

We had a great time in Plymouth!! The weather could have been nicer but what can you do. Really enjoyed Plimoth plantation. :thumbsup2

What an amazing picture! Are the colors all real or did you do any editing on them?

I am so excited about this trip I hardly know what to look forward to most, the Disney cruise or the NYC part of the trip! We will definitely schedule a few days in New York City prior to the trip. What does everyone think, how many days there would be good? 4 or 5, maybe? That's not too much, is it?

Thanks so much!! I did do some editing but yes the colours are pretty much what came out of the camera. I have more pics from NYC. Here's a link if your interested.

As for time in NYC, last summer we did 3 days but I would have liked more. Didn't see near half the things we wanted to see.

Ya Bruins!!!!!!!!!!!! :thumbsup2

But now that Montreal is out, sorry buy I can't support the Bruins anymore.....:rotfl:

How unfortunate for you to not be rooting for the future Stanley Cup Champions :lmao::rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2:

BUT, I am glad that you had fun in Plymouth. It really is a great town and it is too bad the weather wasn't better for you. There are some really wonderful photo opportunities all over the place!! I hung with the real artsy crowd growing up and I can't even tell you how many "photo shoots" we went on!! LOL!! If you ever get the chance to come back this way, you should definitely take a trip to Cape Cod or even Nantucket. Maybe before you go to NYC or on the way home, you should take a few days. September is my favorite time in this area because most of the tourists go home and the weather is still beautiful. So hey, you can always look to me to add a few days to your vacation!! LOL!!!!

I have added your thread to the cruise meet list :thumbsup2

Thank you for posting the link - really wonderful pictures!

We would like to spend 5 days in NYC prior to the cruise, but that all depends on what price accommodation we can find, obviously.

Thanks Ann!! I would love to go back to the area. I feel we didn't even scratch the surface on things we wanted to do and see.

As for the future Stanley Cup Champions, I always root for them. Just not sure when the Leafs will win their next one though....

This shot pretty much sums up the weather we had.

Thanks glad you liked the pics!!

I thinks 5 days would be a great start. You should be able to see quite a bit in that time.

Hi everyone! Count us in too...me and my DH - leaving the kids at home, which for us is in Mexico but we are orginally Canadian. It's my b-day on Sept. 4 and I thought it would be the perfect gift - to me - to celebrate, lol! Plus, we get to see a part of Canada I've never been to, and DH gets to see NYC which he's never seen. Looking forward to the cruise, but right now it seems sooo far away - I guess that will give us lots of time to get to know each other:)

WILKOMMEN!!

I lived in Germany many, many years ago and love going back for visits.

I would agree that you need to stay at least 3 days in New York City, 5 would be better. I'd do it before the cruise. This way you arrive in plenty of time before the cruise, and the cruise will give you time to relax after exploring the city.

Thank you for the nice German welcome! Whereabouts in Germany did you live? I love living here, when I was younger I dreamed of emigrating to Australia but now I'm really happy living here and "only" holidaying elsewhere. (Although that doesn't change the fact that we've got lousier weather here than 90% of the world ;))

And yes, we were also thinking about seeing New York first and doing the cruise afterwards, for the same reason you are giving.

Welcome!!

@ Ann: Since you made the first post in the thread, would you maybe like to start a list of people on this cruise? With info like "where from", "which stateroom", "which dinner seating", or something like that? Only if you feel like it, of course! (Would volunteer to do it myself but didn't post on the first thread page, that was before my time :))

Bitte!

I lived in Bitburg from 1963-67. Since then I've visited Frankfurt and Stuttgart several times on business. I also lived in Graz in 1975-76 learning German (most of which I've forgotten), though I've only been back once since then.

May I ask where you are from?
