Ivan... do not... do not underestimate the powers of the Emperor or suffer your father's fate you will. Ivan, when gone am I... the last of the Jedi will you be. Calling all Radisson guests - and anyone else in the Port Canaveral area!

On Saturday afternoon - say around 2:30 ish? let's MEET poolside by the funny looking tiki hut and see if we can talk the bartender into trying to make Konk Koolers! Kids (if you have them) can splash and play in the pool It'll be practice for CC. After a cooler or two (alcoholic or otherwise) - we'll head over to Grills to watch the Magic glide by on it's way out of port.

Tracy posted a list in the newsletter - but I'd like to get a final count. I'll be calling Grills to beg them to set aside some prime viewing room for our group. Having never been to Grills before, this could be quite entertaining. Any suggestions from former Grill-ee's?

So far I have the following:

SweetSue (3), Harry in Michigan (1), BethE (1), Krdisneybound (2), BobandLee (2), SuzieDisney (3) and PrettyInTink (2)

Let me know if there is anyone else interested - even if you aren't staying at the Radisson. It's a chance to meet up with your fellow DISers before the cruise and take a rare shot of the Magic leaving port (I'm usually ON the Magic...).

Sweet Sue

Yes, I am still pages and pages behind in answering posts.

Sue, I just wanted to say that I may not make it out to the pool by 2:30 (unless of course I can't get in my room yet, but I pray that won't happen). I will try to be out there by 3:30 or so, but I will really need a nap after flying all night.

I've never been to Grill's either, so I'm really looking forward to that -- I didn't realize you could watch the sailaway from there! Let me know what time you plan to leave for Grills so I don't accidentally miss it, please. How far is it from the Radisson?

A long time ago I used to live in Huntington Beach, so I was a bit curious. I don't really remember much of the area though. Hmm, maybe I should have said "a short time ago" when I was a little kid. :teeth:

Sweet Sue

We used to live in Huntington BEach... a long long time ago in a galaxy far far away....

Ivan...It won't let me post a .gif and I can't upload it to Imagestation where I normally keep my photos for posting. Hmmmm... if you PM me your email I'll email it to you.. I think that will work :confused3

:teacher: :teacher: MATH ALERT!!!!!!

Okay Tracy...I went back to our 14 night thread and the last post before we boarded the ship was at 10:22 am and it was post 13,620 on page 908...do you think we can beat it??????

posts we need to beat the 14 night thread = 13,621 - 8,973 = 4,648

# of days until we board the ship = 36

posts per day needed = 4648/36 = 129

only 129 posts per day...that's only 8.6 pages per day.....come on guys...we can do it!!!!!!

ON a good day I can put on 48 posts! Add Scott and the rest of us an' I'd say we're a shoe in to knock this mile marker off!

COunt me "in" to support the goal! :thumbsup2

Cool!, and "I" wanna do the beach break but my posue is thinkin' the kids could use a break at the boat and a proper lunch there. ME - I would have packed food from the ship in zip lock bags and been happy! So we'll see how this developes.

don't get me started on boxes....

unfortunately my mom is a bonafide packrat and I seem to have inherited that gene. Our garage is full of bins, many of them full of unopened Star Wars figures and such, yeah i went nuts when they re-released the movies and bought all the figures I never had when I was a kid. Now i have ships, playsets, figures everywhere...its a sickness I tell you.

:sad2:

Don't sweat it... we have a happy little accumulation of junk here too! I have a Master Replica X-Wing fighter, the Master replica Vader Light Saber and a really cool Anakin Costume plus a matching Padame costume for my dear spouse (photos below) - near professional grade! These are my prize star wars "toys" and little excesses. SO feel free to enjoy your Star Wars indulgences - as you in symapthetic company here!

PACKRATS? You want to hear about packrats? My family is the ROYAL FAMILY of packrats. My DD has boxes from when he moved 20 years ago. They still aren't opened. He even has boxes from HIS DM who passed away 35 years ago. Yep, not opened.

That's why I live in a dinky 2-bedroom house with a carport. No place to packrat stuff away!

Sweet Sue

OK....

... we fully admit WE ARE PACKRATS TOO! In a major way! However we do not have any "joint" boxes more than 22 years old as we've only been together 22 years. BUT... we did have a yourt cup last week in the fridge that had expired 7 years ago! ;)

Sad night for us...Quincy's (dd 5) pet betta "Goldie" moved on to fishy heaven today. :sad2: DD was very sad and she decorated a pretty bag with stickers and we buried Goldie next to Q's playhouse.

After I read Q some books tonight, we talked about her special times with her fish and she asked me if the mountain lions would dig up Goldie and eat her... I told her, although we have had a mountain lion around the house in the past, he/she would not be interested in Goldie. Oh the minds of little ones!

By the way, Sue...I can relate, our little one is beginning kindergarten a week from Monday. She is so excited! princess:

Good night all!

Captain Crash...you asked for the story behind Leslie's DCL lounger she has at her home...so here it is...

Okay...so you know that we "re-located" some deck chairs from Deck 9 to Kelli's BAV (big a@@ verandah) so that we could have enough chairs to sit while we went through the Panama Canal on the Disney Magic last May. Those chairs (in their entirety were returned to Deck 9 - thanks Kelli's Stateroom host). Fast Forward to about a month and a half ago....I noticed on Ebay that Mouse Surplus was auctioning off some of the DCL deck chairs and loungers. These must have been sold to Mouse Surplus after the dry dock of the Magic in October 2005. Leslie bid on the lounger and won one. There was no theft involved and she owns the lounger fair and square and I can't wait to test it out in September. I really don't want people to think that Leslie and I are "thieves".

I was partial to the "throwing it overboard and retrieving it" story... :goodvibes

I was actually expecting to be taunted a bit more - and in the process we might have gotten some colorful ideas cast out to explain how the DCL furniture was "acquired".

Oh well..... :confused3

Hmm.....

I took a glance at the roster.. and we do have a nice gathering developing here. However, I noticed we have a lot more then 20 folks in the early dining group... at least 100. On the roster I estimate there are 51 screen names and/or cabins who say they've got early dining, 37 late diners and 17 with unknown or undisclosed dining arrangements. I vaguely recall reading somewhere that we had 270+ folks in the DIS group... is that right? That would mean slightly more than 1 in 10 on this sailing is with us! Amazing! :woohoo:

Well... at any rate,... I guess folks are pretty busy and have not gotten around to conveying their dining info to you Beth. I imagine that pretty soon we have to submit our list of early dining DIS folks who want to be linked. Otherwise it cannot/may not be done.. right?

SO - assuming this is the case... c'mon folks - if you're on the early dining shift... PM Bethe ASAP to assure inclusion with us on the right dining rotation and venue! If you're late dining - then HOOK Up with your DIS mates... and if you don't know your dining assignment yet - call DCL or check your on-line page to find out! THEN PM the appropriate contact person to hook up!

Alternatively... if you're thinking of AVOIDING us  after having seen what a crazy bunch we are (or a crazy FEW who have salted the group!)... then PM Bethe so you can definately NOT be on our dining rotation!!!! LOL! I know some of you may be apprehensive about the nightly food fights that the DIS brethern are know for.... LOL!.... NOT! That was NOT me... (Hmmm wuz that a double negative... meaning I was involved? ) I tell ya it wuz NOT me !......
:duck: :duck: :duck: :duck:
....(forgive me).... as the dripping chocolate cake from my fingers was not the same variety as the chocolate cake that 1st started that "BIG" food fight on the last voyage! :lmao:

I'm pretty sure the captain is joking about food fights....but we will definitely have lots of fun! pirate:

So come on early diners, don't be afraid! Join in the fun with the rest of us adventurous folks! party: You are going to love it! Even if you have a whole table made up with your friends and family, you can still be linked to the larger DIS group. All you have to do is PM me. But Tom is right -- this needs to be done soon -- so PM me today!

Beth

My BABY starts KINDERGARTEN on Monday! I can't believe it! In just three days I will have a child in an ELEMENTARY school. I don't think I'm old enough for this....

Sweet Sue

Your story is simply wonderful to think about... and I am a only a sometimes setimental guy who really goofed up the proposal for marriage with my best friend of 22 years. Some time you have to get the story out of us - it's worth the wait if you're ready to snicker for 5 minutes solid! And after that ... you are invited to coax the story from us of how we 1st met and dated. Less snickering there but another story to share. :goodvibes

At any rate - we do indeed look forward to meeting you and your romantic knight on the Wonder! Hmmm.... that last play on words had a nice flow to it... a romantic knight on the WOnder.... an "R" nite on the WOnder... oh well... nothing shady intended - just that it seemed sort of cute sounding.

Oh I will share obliquely (misspelled) that in recent months I have taken a somewhat new view on life in general. In the past 6 months we have had so many around us - most close to us - who have developed chronic and usually terminal conditions that we have just turned our perspective on end for a shocking new order of living priorities. My spouse and I are NOT the same persons we were a year ago. As for me ...I think I am a far HAPPIER person in some ways - and in others I am like the critter at the end of Elmer Fudds' shotgun... about to scoot scared for my mortal soul! Yeah ... some things motivate me unlike any time before now!

So - I do indeed embrace things that we deem worth LIVING for. DCL and all the pleasures commensurate with it included. For what it is worth - the gang here has proven to be a very VERY pleasant surprise to shifting to the this voyage. Contrary to what some may have done... we just looked at the port schedule and our calander and shifted. SO - we did not check out the cruise thread first. When we transferred to this sailing we left a very nice group which we had exchanged postings with for several months. We grew together there as a modest community ... but over here it is a somewhat different "animal". We've been posting here since July 17th and now got less than 5 weeks til sailing ... and I do indeed feel nearly at home as I was with the other sailing. It is nice. No - I am not going to rename our daughter Scott, Tracy or Betty (yet) ... but I do feel a small sense of familiarity in a pleasant manner with many here.

No - I can't say I'd recognize many on sight yet - except by the looks of the anticipated green bubba mugs (mine is gonna be black - my quasi-dictator spouse issued a spousal edict nixing the green bubba mug... I'm considerin' stachin' one in my bags anyway!).... however... but I imagine I'll know a few by mid voyage. I suspect if many had posted images of themselves then I would have clip and pasted their images into questionale but likely entertaining photos... so you are WISE not to let too many images of yourselves float around. I on the other hand have foolishly posted 100s of images all over the DIS. But if it is any consulation... my host has a 120 day roatating expiration... so the image links I've posted will self destruct in a domino effect after a few months after I post them!

So.... Aside from that - since I expect to be around a little (or a lot) less in the days to come - I thought I'd share these thoughts. You all know that I am not the only one who is likely to feel this way. We DO have a nice gang here. I am thankful for that. Cheers to all for being cordial, entertaining ... and offerring a less filling fare ... with more taste then otherwise! I have seen a couple of unkind exchanges in the past few months on the DIS ... regrettable... and it is nice to be free of that immature non-sense here.

Hi Tom,

I know what you mean about a new view on life, Harry and I have that too. We Know how to enjoy life and that's what we're doing, because you never know when it might come to an end.

Glad you are enjoying our group here. I agree this is a very fun and welcoming group. :grouphug: I don't participate as much as many, but I enjoy the participation that I do.

I'm looking forward to hearing the story of your botched proposal in person in just a little over 5 weeks! And I will coax the rest of the story out of you!

Beth
