What do you experienced divers think of those "learn to dive in one day and we take you down to 20-40 ft trips"? Are they safe, what type of fitness level do you need to be in? etc. They have one in St kitts and I was considering it for myself and DS17.....

Was one of those learn to dive in a day folks. During our honeymoon in Jamaica, we became "resort" certified. It was quite easy, only had to swim around the pool for something like 15 minutes without stopping or having your feet touch the bottom - actually, it was a little hard. Then had to take a class if memory serves right. In the end, it was by far one the most amazing things we have ever done. Went on four dives in our ten days there. The first may have been 40 ft, but the last two were 90 ft. It was truly an awesome, unbelievable experience. Never have had a chance to do it again. Of course part of the problem was not getting real certification. However, we are thinking of taking the girls to Beaches at T&C next year. They offer "resort" diving and will definately do it again! Can easily see how one could become addicted.

On a Serious note about diving, here is a passage I read to all my classes, it chronicles a persons first experience with SCUBA:

“ I breathed sweet, effortless air. There was a faint whistle when I inhaled and a light rippling sounds of bubbles when I breather out. The regulator was adjusting pressure to my needs.”

“I reached the bottom in a state of transport. I looked up and saw the surface shining like a defective mirror. In the corner of the looking glass was the trim silhouette of Simone, reduced to a doll. I waved. The doll waved at me. From this day forward we would swim across miles of country no man had known, free and level, with our flesh feeling what fish scales know.”

Guess who wrote these words, it is pretty easy. I have read this many times and still get very emotional every time.

Finally caught up after devoting most of the weekend to the garage sale. Magnetic message boards arrived today to my great relief. Hope the roster is up to date with all the upgrades. Will make stateroom deliveries easier. UPS says 6 business days to ship to FL from WA.

Back to work tomorrow so I will be behind again when I get home....guess it doesn't matter much since we will all be together in less than 3 weeks!

:woohooWhoo Hooo!!! Docs came today!!!!! They were in the door when I got home. Rained all day here today, Poured most of the day, especially every time I had to get out of the car. As a matter of fact It's still raining here. Hope it stops soon,I think I saw a pair of giraffes walking down the street earlier.
Looking forward to taking my DGD to see Wicked in Chicago tomorrow night.
