I have heard that you have to get up early to go through customs when you go to St. Thomas because it is an american territory and you have visited a foreign country ( St Marteen) before disembarking there. My question is since St. Thomas is our first stop will we have to go through with the early morning customs?. Or because we went through International Waters will we have to anyways?

Good Question !!!

I am going to Say NO. :confused3

Peter

My guess is we should do customs back in PC. That should be a change from the early morning dance we usually have in St Thomas.

to answer this question, it is YES

In June when we were on the Magic, the morning that we got to St. Thomas everyone had to go to the WD Theatre and check in with their passports/ID's.

The process started at 6:30 am and it ended about 8:30. They used both sides of the theatre - they stagger the times that the different decks would check in, so that everyone would not have to stand in line a long time

Well....

I just double checked... our 1st port call will be St Thomas? And the 1st US territory following our foreign port visits will be PC? SO I would expect customs to do their thing on our debarkation morning.

When I cruised on Princess last Oct/Nov we stopped in St Thomas first. We did not have to go through the Customs thing.

And debarkation wasn't any different than it always has been on DCL or Norwegian....they kind of glanced at our passports and said "Have a good day".

Good Morning folks!

..... Out here in Southern California we call todays sort of weather .... "SHAKE AND BAKE" weather. Hot like this is when we seem to get our earth quakes. So if anything happens (and we hope not!) then you heard it first here.
:confused3 Where have I heard that before? Hmmmm..... Oh yea!
"Paradise, lost and found
Paradise, take a look around
I was out in California where I hear they have it all
They got riots, fires, mud slides
They've got sushi in the mall
Water bars, brontasaurs, chinese modern lust
Shake and bake life with the quake
The secret's in the crust
"
("FRUITCAKES":lmao: )

I'm pretty sure we don't. Thought I remember an earlier post where someone had spoken to DCL and they explained the rationale for stopping at St Thomas first was there would only be one clearing of customs needed. Makes sense since we would not have been in another country before entering St Thomas.

We had to do this once...and if memory serves it was because St Thomas was the first US port (it's considered US, correct?) after being in St Maarten, or wherever we were before that.

I don't think we'll have to do it, but if we do, I remember it was painless. We paraded through the lounge, no one really looked at anything...we literally walked through the room with our passports in our hands. It was a formality. Since we are scheduled to stop at St Thomas first, I dont think we have to worry about it.

In 2004 when we did the Antigua cruise on DCL, we did not go through customs in St Thomas.

I know. When we cruised on Costa the end of March, we were in St. Thomas and did not have to do the customs thingy. All we had to do was fill out a form for them and that was all. It had to be turned in at Guest Services only.

Wonder why one ship would do it and another not?? May be where they are registered???

Actaully, that's what happens that early in the morning before a FULL cup of coffee :surfweb:

Yes, 10,000 posts coming up by 9/17. :wizard:

Understand the "dry" heat notion. After spending the longest year of our lives in Washington D.C., don't like the humidity thing so much. Fire fly's (lightning bugs) are cool though!

However, turn your oven on and stick your head in! Now imagine having to go mow 8,000 square feet of grass that a certain spouse insisted on having. Which said spouse has never mowed. Then the thought of jumping in the pool after finishing said mowing - ahh it's going to be refreshing. Oh yeah, the water temperature is 95! Alright, a cold shower will do . . . . . . not complaining we love not having rain for 360 days of the year.

Can't wait for this vacation!

ELAINE YOU NEED A PIRATE NAME!!!

Mine is pirate: Rum Drinkin' Red Ethel. pirate: Believe it or not I actually got that from a name generator!!! It must be psychic! Much better than my former name for the PC Cruise.. "Can't Remember Where the Damn Treasure's Buried Jen" Although that one rings true as well....:rotfl:

Yes Elaine you do need a Pirate Name. pirate: Something exciting and flashy. :cool1:

Okay...I looked on Page 1 but didn't see this....is anyone keeping a list of who's on what shore excursion?? I was thinking it might be nice to know who would be on an excursion with you. If no one is keeping a list....I'll offer to keep if, that is if it is something that people would want. Just let me know.

I am excited about the cooking class! Fat southern women LOVE to cook.
If anyone is interested in Paula Deen I will fulfill my dream of eating at her Lady and Sons restuarant in Savannah on monday (hopefully). Apparantly, she doesn't take reservations so I guess we are just gonna go stand in line to eat and meet the southern queen of cookin'! ...

Hope you enjoy it. When we stayed at Hilton Head (DVC of course) we made a special trip to go there. Was worth the trip. We had gotten the buffet and it was the first time I ever had hoe cake(s). The fried chicken was great. Lee like the okra (yuk). I had the ice tea (not sweetened- you'all from up north aren't ya). Believe it or not, I had the Pecan Pie instead of the Key Lime Pie. :thumbsup2
