[Scott...I have also been watching the tour for many years. I remember the only way to see it was on ABC Wide World of Sports on their Sunday recaps! I started cycling in high school (pre-Greg) on my brother's twelve speed! Between the red-winged black birds swooping down at me and grasshoppers jumping on my legs it was an exciting time on the farm roads of Illinois!![/QUOTE]

We are also old cyclists. Dodging dogs always made us faster here in Florida. No hills so we always had to go for distance. Atlantic to Gulf of Mexico was always a fun ride. The cross Florida in April or May. We follow Le Tour and have for years. :goodvibes It always gets my heart pumping a little faster and I notice a lot more people riding around this time. We still own a racing "Zeus" with sewups. ( Now that will date you.) ;) Too many years and injuries for serious riding anymore but I still occasionally polish the Campy components on my handbuilt Bianchi. sigh...Life is all carbon fiber and compsite now. I'm just a pinball machine in a video game world. We ride the bike trail now on our mountain bikes and stay out of the traffic. We smile and wave and enjoy the birds and flowers :sunny: We will always love the bikes!

That is KEWL, I have not been on the road bike for many years and the Mt bikes are not used as much, with having to exercise the dogs, just not enough time in the day. I had a Schwinn Paramount, wish I had never sold it, back in the days of Reynolds 531 frames. Now haev an older Motobacane with nice Shimmano components, and hey a Brooks saddle.

I remember those fun experiences in IL and IN.

Bob, Yuki says thanks, Pets Mart is 100 miles away. She will enjoy camping this weekend and being pulled around in her wagon. She will get special treats tonight. :thumbsup2

Think it was Inaugural western trip May 04 ??? :confused3

10 cruises they all blend together.. this will be 11 and have 12 & 13 booked. :teeth:

May of 01, gotta go check the shirt. I think it was 2001 as that was the year of my first retirement. It was the Western Inaug. We could ask First Timers the date. LOL

I don't think my Bianchi is handbuilt! But, I have had it for 15 years and it still does the trick. I enjoy riding as a low impact sport and the thrill of dreaming I'm riding against the greats!!

PrettyinTink and Rotary2808, We almost forgot one of the most famous people from Alabama, JIMMY BUFFETT!. With out him "we would all go insane". I don't care where you are in this great country, put on "MargaritaVille", and it is a sure bet you will be smiling before its over!

Good luck to all the ladies that are going on a diet before the cruise...DW started about a month ago and has already lost 18 lbs! She is looking and feeling better ever day. Her goal is another 18. But remember ladies, don't lose to much, I and most guys like a little meat on the bone, not the toothpick stick girls...OK guys, get off my BACK!

Everyone have a great afternoon and enjoy life!
I can't believe I forgot about Buffett!! Shame on me. Wow, your dw is doing great losing weight. I have a long way to go before look like a toothpick. I don't desire to be that thin, just healthy. I start diets great, but if I lose 18 lbs I get all excited and go out for a celebratory meal. I'm trying now, but I just ate at Arby's. I just have a hard time saying no to fast food... :bitelip:

Finally, I wondered when someone would come up with JB.
I believe his sister still lives there. Has a restaurant.
:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
Actually he was born in Pascagoula, Mississippi, but grew up near Mobile.
His sister Lulu has her restaurant near Gulf Shores, AL.

Indiana has some infamous people too..... :)
Michael Jackson (Gary), Axel Rose(Lafayette), John Dillingera(Indy) and Jim Jones

Just read in my Allears newletter that there is going to be a new show on the 10-and 11-night Disney Wonder cruises. :cool1: It's called "The Art of the Story". Anybody know anything more about it? Carol

The adult cooking demonstration program is the "Art of Entertaining". Could this be a program how Disney presents a story and the artistic facets of the story? Alex

Hi Laurie

Not everyone is riding a carbon fiber 14 lbs wonder. I'm still riding a steel frame. It gets me from San Francisco to LA each year just fine.
