corrupt me?? hmm, I wasn't the one laying in ambush capt'n :)

besides I'm already on the dark side as a loyal Black and Gold Brigade member!!

Hey any Raider or Chargers fans here? Steelers will finally be playing in Oakland this year after I think four seasons of games in Pitt. Anyone up for a roadtrip to the Black Hole! They also play SD again.

Just curious, I know Capt' Crash's wife is one but any other Steeler fans out there??

They play the jaguars I think on MNF 9/18 when we are at sea, maybe we can get together and watch the game in the Sports bar

Packer fans all the way. I hope we are able to see some of the games in Diversions. We will be missing three :sad2: At least for the first one we will be in Key West. Should be able to catch some there.

Speaking of Key West -- Bob and Scott you need any parrothead gear from there? I don't know how I'm going to understand a word you two say :lmao: Kind of like the way I was with Peter so long ago :rotfl2:

Eight posts for me already and it's still early! But it took me nearly an hour to catch up!

Bill came in Friday - $750! :scared1: :faint:

My little girls have grass skirts - as I do (now)... if I get one for my dear spouse can she come along too? Or does that sort of spoil the atmosphere of the thing? My spouse can actually Hula and such as her Mom is 4th generation from Hawaii - and she grew up spending many of her summers there.

:faint: 1 hour and 10 minutes to get caught up!!! Holy COW!! I had planned on getting on the treadmill, reading my BOOK, not the boards, and getting ready to dive today- instead I have blown my morning reading the boards and eating handfulls of chocolate covered tootie rolls. :rolleyes1

Robb is doing his first confined water dive today- all he needs is his 4 open water dives and he'll be able to get his card. (I am waiting for mine to come in the mail....)

Noah is going to take his first bubblemakers class today. He has his own little BCD and regulator- on loan from the dive shop as part of the class fees. I wanted to make sure he practiced his snorkeling before though, so when we go snorkeling on the cruise, he doesn't forget that you can't breath underwater with it. He did awesome snorkeling!! When his is swimming normally, he can only go very short distances- his water confidence is very low. However with the snorkel he was zooming all over the place and loved every second of it. Now we just have to work with him on keeping a float when he is not using the snorkel...

I myself am going to go to the pool as well and practice ascending and descending and equalizing my poor ears. I am having a hard time doing that and I feel like I can't hear for a few days after....any suggestions from my fellow divers.

I also bought the new Oceanic VT3 dive computer  I better work some more Overtime!!

This sounds so exciting...

... I don't swim well (well I sink more than actally swim) ad scuba dikving sounds like sheer famtasy to me! As once I mentioned to a brother that I wanted to learn how to scuba dive and he dryly pointed out I could not wswim and wiould D-I-E! Oh.. rats... details ... details. Do I HAVE to swim to scuuba dive?

Question for all the participants in the GSF. Are the grass skirts to be worn to the safety drill??????? Personally I think you guys will look fabulous in your lime green GSF t's, grass skirts and the bright orange life preserver. Should you all put this to a vote, cause my DH is chickening out and will be changing not once, but twice !!! What's the concensus?

I would think that would be a SOLAS violation, or they might thiink we were not serious about it, so drop those simi Gumby outfits (life jackets) and get that grass skirt on and head up to the Sail Away Party.

Interesting lifejacket fact, jumping into the water from a height of 5 meters or more, will cause on to break their neck.

OK... no GS at the drill... and I'll have to remove my LJ prior to my next jump of 10 or more meters! Fascinating!

G'nikte again...

Good choice on the computer, I really like the Oceanic ones, slightly conservative, but that is a good think.

OK on ears and clearing, Lynn has problems here, check out DAN.org for some good medical articles on diving, I refer to them a lot as student questions come up. Now to the clearing issues, there is the pinch the nose and blow out, swallowing, and jaw wiggle, or a combo of any of the above. Lynn has to swallow and will start her dive with a life saver to help saliva flow. Another tip that is often over looked in to look up as you are clearing, this will tend to stretch the eustation tubes and might help.

Wish Lynn and I were there to help, Hey we will dive at Dive Quest and are you doing any dive excursions??

So Captain- are you going to bed- or have you never gone to bed? Personally, I don't think you have to have strong swimming skills to scuba. I am not looking to be a professional diver, I just want to have fun and I have marginal swimming skills. Like I said, my son who can't really swim can snorkel and I think he will do beautifully with the scuba. It's amazing how well you can swim when you don't have to worry about drowning....

Pure snorkel on the ship for Noah's sake. (I think he will love the bubblemakers class- I believe they will have tanks on their backs & everything. 1 to 1 instruction in the pool)

Dive Quest will be my first "real" dive since my open water class....do you ascend with a tow line or what?
