Swimming in the lake behind out house.. Not directly behind, like in my backyard.. I can tell by the water, that lake is different then ours..

Pictures040.jpg

This is an OLD picture, before the house was finished... This is a picture I took standing on the opposite side of lake facing our house, on the corner there... Just so you get get a sense for how big our lakes is...

Wow those are GREAT shots. They look so real, not like on TV. I know, they are live and up close. They're so cool. Thanks for sharing.

If any of you gator watchers ever get a chance to drive over the Lake Jessup bridge that connects Sanford and Oviedo, you will see TONS of the big guys hanging out in the water! I used to drive that way to work every day, and I developed this superstitious system where I could tell what kind of day I would have by how many gator heads I counted on my drive :rotfl:

We've been on a little pond in our home for three years, and thankfully I have yet to see a gator. I have seen an otter though. And lots of turtles. We have some pretty big lakes nearby, but I don't think our pond is big enough to support a gator, thank goodness! I've lived here all of my life and they scare the poop out of me! :scared1:

You wouldn't think we'd have them, but there have been gator spottings here in N. Alabama in the Tennessee River.:scared1: Supposedly years ago only females were put in there to control some sort of animal population. The females weren't supposed to breed and they would just die off. Well what do you know, they're still here!!!!:lmao:

Yup ::yes:: Alligators.. They are in every lake we have in our development and they range from small to almost 6 feet..

My cousin lives in Palmetto which is over on the gulf side and she told me they actually come out sometimes and just take a nice stroll down the the street going from pond to pond behind their houses :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

I grew up in Glen Cove in Nassau County

You and my DH were neighbors. Glen Cove is a beautiful area.

We're going back to the Island next weekend to visit cousins in Manorville and Port Jefferson in Suffolk county and an Uncle in East Meadow in Nassau county. We're staying overnight so we're making a weekend out of it visiting family that is still there.

Yes, we will wait until spring or early summer we will be even closer than to our cruise :cool1: :cool1:

YES, I LOVE the "closer to our cruise" part. We will do it then.

OMG NO WAY!!!! That would be an INCREDIBLE sight to see. As long as I was within safe distance, I would enjoy it. If I was too close and they were hungry or unhappy that day, I would be running.

My late uncle used to live around the corner from his daughter(my cousin) in Palmetto and he used to have one that would come out of the pond once in a while and sun himself on a big boulder behind his house needless to say he had a big fence put up

YEA, that's just way toooooooo close for my comfort. I would put the fence up and make sure that I had some ammo in case things got out of hand. Ya NEVER know.

I'm going to have to take a drive by that area the next time I'm in FL. I would LOVE to see that.....from a safe distance.

I would LOVE to see some turtles in the ponds. Could you take some pictures some time and post on here? I'm a turtle lover. I collect them and have hundreds, literally, all over my house. I also have six live ones in tanks. I'm a little obsessed with them. But I adore them.

Deb,l did you know there are turtles in the 'canal' at the back of the Beach Club Villas?

You can drive to their car park(not the BC, but the DVC BCV) and walk the short distance to the pool. You can see the turtles there.

There must have been some males somewhere in that original bunch.....who contols their population now?:scared1:

Nope.....I had no idea there were turtles in WDW anywhere. The next time I am down there I will be on a mission to find them. Thanks for the info Marilyn.

We'll probably go down in Spring around the end of April.....that's the anniversary of our first date. So we have an anniversary in Spring and in Fall. We usually try to do WDW for one and DCL/WDW for the other. So I will be looking for them now that I know.

That's our anniversary date of our first date....we'll definitely be there while you're there. YEAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! We can do another minimeet!!!!!!!

I would love to do a tea with you and John and Monica at any place you pick. We always have to add our Ambassador Monica. Speaking of her, isn't it time that she left for Spain? She has probably been busy getting ready because she has not be on the boards recently. I wish her a great trip.
