September 12, 2009 ~ Last Call for Tortola! Thread 3

Cheri...you need to start readjusting your sleep cycle next week! :lmao::lmao:

.

Poor Cheri, stuck in a villa with three early risers!

And what are you going to do Jackie? Since we are 2 hours ahead of you? We lose and hour and you lose 3!

If we "sleep in" we'd still be getting up at about 6 AM.

:guilty: DH just asked me if I really wanted to go on this cruise.. Apparently he is not real happy or excited like he use to get for our cruises.. I told him to be honest Yes and No myself and I explained why.. I am guessing he is thinking of our son and realizing unfortunately we will never be able to cruise with our son again.. Part of the reason for my yes and no.. I am not sure how we will be or how this will effect us.. It is the first time he said anything to me about not wanting to go..

Please send a little Pixie Dust this way for my DH to raise his spirits up :wizard:

Thank You
:grouphug:

Stacy, I am so sorry. I cannot even begin to imagine how difficult this must be for both of you. There cannot be anything worse than losing a child.:hug::hug:

Hello everyone!!! :wave2:

I'm sorry to be so absent from this thread lately - life is just horribly hectic here and threatening to get even more so in the 13 days I have left until we leave for WDW!!! Please excuse me and know that even tho' I'm not getting a chance to keep up, I'm here in spirit... :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:

Hi Kaz, not to worry....we all understand. That's what vacations are for....time to stop the clock and just live....unwind from the routine and responsibilities and just have FUN! Can't wait to be sharing that with you soon!

Pretty much what I was expecting...afternoon naps!

Glad to see the lows in the 70's, the early morniings should be bareable. Cheri...you need to start readjusting your sleep cycle next week! :lmao::lmao:

 Hi Kaz!

Stacy, :grouphug:

.

Hi Jackie, how are you feeling today? Hope you're getting better everyday. Hugs to you too.

Thanks Everyone :grouphug:

I'm hoping he remembers its ok to have fun and we always did have fun on DCL, if we didn't we wouldn't go each year

I on the other hand am getting swamped at work, all of a sudden. I have been given 2 more projects. I report to 2 directors and the CIO all at the same time which can make life interesting.

I pointed out to the CIO today that I would not be able to start on one project probably until after I get back from vacation.

I seem to have to remind people several times a day that as of the end of next week I will be gone and won't be back in the office until 9/21.

A few have asked me if they could phone me while I am on vacation. I asked them if they wanted the short answer or the long answer.

The short answer is, "No."

The long answer is, "Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo."
You tell them Ian!
With me, I'm trying to decide IF we are going to do semi and formal this time around. We just want to keep this cruise simple. What to do, what to do! I do know that I am skipping the pirate gear for sure.
I can SO relate - I'm not a girl who likes to dress up much - once in a blue I do - but haven't gotten excited about this topic ...
For those interested in the packing cubes at ebags - I just checked on them and they are also on sale for an extra 20% off right now - but it is just for today (Wednesday) according to the site.
I'm sorry I DID forget to mention that - and thankful Ian told me about them yesterday and I got that discount - I'm actually REALLY looking forward to packing now - because I'll have some NEW organizing TOOLS - now if only someone could get me excited about what to wear on formal/Palo night.
Add us to the list of cruisers on Sept 12th to Tortola.

:grouphug: I'm so sorry - I cannot image how difficult this is for you both - but know that there will be LOTS of people on this cruise who are there - to assist you in shoulders, winks or whatever you might need. :littleangel:

Poor Cheri - maybe I should teach her my morning "growl"... :rotfl::lmao::rotfl2:

I just want to say how great it is to be able to meet such a wonderful group of people... and how much I am looking forward to this cruise with you all.:yay:

I will keep up reading, but just a quick post today, I wanted to say

WELCOME

To all those that are just joining. Please feel free to join in and post. Tell us about yourselves, ask questions, just join in and get to know everyone. I know it may feel intimidating at first but we don't bite (well I don't anyway!). Some people have cruised together before, others (like me) have not, but I have got to know people through this thread. It feels great having new friends to meet onboard or in the terminal for the first time!

Also

:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:

To all those that need it for whatever trials and tribulations you are going through. Sometimes words can't help, but hugs can.

I can only imagine how you and your husband are feeling...Prayers and Pixie dust for both of you! It's never easy to lose a loved one, but a child must be so incredibly hard...My DD (13) lost a classmate this past month to epilepsy, I didnt know the child very well, but my eyes still well up at the thought...At the wake all I could think of was it could of been one of my children and how lucky I was to have them all...It really makes ya think! Hopefully your husband will understand that it will never be the same, but that you can still have an enjoyable time...Maybe there is something that you guys can do as a tribute to your son while on the cruise...and then make it a tradition everytime you cruise you honor your son and celebrate his memory and the wonderful memories that you do have of him.

For those down at WDW before the cruise here is the weather forecast!!

http://www.accuweather.com/forecast3-us.asp?partner=accuweather&zipcode=32830&metric=0

That humidity looks uncomfortable. :headache:

It was like this when we were down in both July and August, and it wasnt too unbearable for us...At times it was bad when were out for long periods of time, but when we went to the park in the morning and hit the pool by 2pm and then back to the park around 6 it worked out good for us.

:cheer2::cheer2::welcome::welcome::cheer2::cheer2: To all the new cruisers :sail:sailing with us!! Glad you are joining us on this trip.
:grouphug::grouphug: and pixiedust:pixiedust: to those that are having a tough time right now.

We'll be there in 9 Days, hopefully we won't melt... We will be trying to be there for rope drop for the first time (never have made it that early to a park) and taking afternoon breaks I think. But even with the heat and humidity expected I'm sure we'll still have a great time!

Have a good day everyone! :flower3:

Looks like the temp will keep dropping even a bit as the days progress - but for me if I can get cool at night and mornings, I can deal !

You'd better pack a heavy sweater and some thick wooly socks. Add a scarf and mittens in too, while you're at it.

:lmao: We would be very happy here to get those 'cool' temperatures during the day!!!!!:rotfl2:

Hey, I owe you for recommending the packing cubes and the folders. They are fantastic. Clothing arrives in great shape and they make packing much easier.

Can you PM me the info on these? If it's a version of something I've seen on TV, I would love to know how you did it to be wrinkle free. Thanks

My DD (13) lost a classmate this past month to epilepsy,

I am soooooo sorry to read that. It must be terribly hard on her. I hated to read that. My grandson has epilepsy and they can't get him under control. It started when he was two and he is now four and on the ketogenic diet. Helps a tad but the seizures aren't gone. His mom had seizures as well starting at the same age but it only took a few months to get her under control and they called that difficult. Told us that it isn't heriditary but now they are rethinking it. My brother was diagnosed the same year as my grandson. My other daughter is afraid to have kids. The same week that my grandson started the keto diet her "coach" that has been through it with her son lost her few month old niece to seizures. She had a 45 minute one. I got through it with my daughter with the attitude that it could be worse. I can't convince her that it will get better. I don't even believe it. Our family kind isn't one every so often, it can be a 100 per day or it can be 5 or 6.
