September 12, 2009 ~ Last Call for Tortola! Thread 3

Has anyone realized that this time next month we'll be roasting at the lifeboat drill (unless we're lucky to be at one of the inside stations) getting ready for the Magic to sail off into the Caribbean?:banana::banana:

Which stateroom areas get inside stations? I remember Jan 08, it was hot on deck 4 waiting to be released.

On our last cruise we were on Deck 5 and our lifeboat station was in Animator's Palate. That was heaven. Everyone was just sitting at tables in their lifevest's.

Love those aft staterooms! Sitting inside is GREAT....however, having an outside muster station means you get in the lifeboats FIRST if there's trouble! :lmao:

I wouldn't mind seeing some HORSE PICTURES.:thumbsup2

My greatest day in my 'horse history'...doing a flying lead change...on purpose!

My worst day in my 'horse history'...taking a dive and being unconscious for a few minutes.

Ian's horse:

FYI, this is Lillian Disney's favorite horse on the DL carousel.

The reason I was laughing was it brought back a memory for me ( I wasn' laughing at you) I just remember using the "floor" hay and giving it to the cows - while the horses got all the "fresh" hay - and we often mixed it - so they wouldn't get too much protein from the alfalfa and not too much grass hay (good fill but not great nutrients)... so they had a mix of timothy, alfalfa and grass hay. Sorry it's an Aquarian thing, my mind is going 1000 miles a minute but I often don't explain my self very well.... ;)

God I remember the last time and it was December and I was so hot - I have NO idea what I'm going to do - wet my head and bring my FAN with me so I can keep cool!

YIPEE - more horse talk! KIMLOVESDISNEY - and Garry - I know I'm jumping in on your conversation but I can't help myself! Kim how old is your little one who wants to start jumping? I too, went that route - started in a western saddle, pleasure then went to gymkana - then on to english pleasure to jumping and then 3-day eventing - jumping is about the MOST fun a person can have on horseback... (Ian/Woody - NO COMMENTS PLEASE)...:rotfl:

Responded accordingly!

More horse posting (for those than want to skip over this section) - I was at a point where I wasn't working and enjoyed playing horsewoman all day - and then lunched with my other equestrian women friends, such blessings!!! Then I got a call and next thing you know I'm working full time :scared1: - but I will say our family certainly has had the pleasure of riding and owning a bunch of great horses... my brother Paul who will be cruising has walking horses (well down to 1 now) and my sis Jackie had a couple mixed quarter types as a younger gal - I too still have one - but only one at this point. Trail riding is really the only thing I do now - I had to put my Arab down last February he was the horse of my dreams... he did everything from polo cross to 3 day eventing to trail riding (even competitively) but his really strong suit was Dressage - he was like riding butter... I'm sorry - I need a moment to compose myself...:sad1::sad:

Lindsay just turned 8. We have been letting her jump crossrails (about 6" high) down in the pasture. She thinks she is special! She has no interest in western riding at all - i am assuming this is because i ride western. Her Aunt Kari (has the arab) rides English and was a show jumper...and Lindsay thinks she is the best. I never took lessons, so I am not sure what she is getting into. She absolutely loves the jumping though. She is taking lessons at our YMCA. When she gets more serious, i guess we will have to find a competitive barn.

What is gymkana?

I am so sorry about your arab. I know that had to be awful. My sisters' arab is 23 and she has had him since he was 3 (she was 15 when she got him). I am just dreading something happening to him...it will kill her. Our appy is 28 or so. People that don't have horses just don't understand what wonderful animals they are.

We mostly trail ride. Recently we set up barrels in the field and had a few days of fun running them (in the spring), until it got hot. i just feel bad running them so hard in our 95 degree heat with 90% humidity...so we don't.

What is your current horse like?

My favorite is Scarlett (I wouldn't tell my best friend though). She is the walker...and a bit spunky. She spooked at a buzzard flapping its wings recently and left me in the dirt. (i shouldn't have been so relaxed!) She is 8 yrs old.

I will see if i can figure out how to post pictures.

looking forward to meeting you....

I too had to put 1 of my arabs down. a few months ago. They were inside for 4 days with all the rain and mud. It dryed up some so I put them out and she stayed in the barn with a horse on stall rest. so I chased her out and a young gelding ran out with her. Well she slipped in the mud running with him and landed on her shoulder with me watching. At 18 she broke it so :~((

have fun....i'll just be at my boring desk job - trying to figure out how to post pictures.

good night.

I don't remember the exact number, but I think we were somewhere between midship and aft.

got any pointers?

You have to upload the photo to photo sharing site. I use both SmugMug and my Mac MobileMe space. Other folks use Photobucket or perhaps flicker.

Once you have uploaded, you find and copy the URL to the photo and then it gets pasted in between the IMG tags, which you use the little icon on the toolbar above the posting space to do.

Ok, I just finished filling out my online forms. I had done it before but left it unfinished due to our passports not being here yet. So I put in pertinent info and then would finish when the passport came in. I got the passports last week but was too busy/tired to get on the DCL site. Got on tonight and found out that the DCL site dropped the II off of my DH's name. I really don't want to go on the cruise with my FIL. I like him but I'd rather go with DH ;). The site wouldn't let me change his name only his info. and I know I put the II after his name because I asked him if I put it after his first name or if it should be after his last name (because of the whole input the last name first thingy). Do I call DCL and tell them or do I let it go and we'll get it changed at the port?

BTW I'll have the same problem at the airport and the tickets. For some reason, these sites do not like to recognize anything after the proper name (i.e. II, III, Jr, etc.) If they are going to make you have your name as it is shown on your ID then they need to fix the gliches in their reservation systems.

Thanks
