September 12, 2009 ~ Last Call for Tortola! Thread 3

Holy cow - I LOVE that show - I had all the episodes practically memorized as a kid. And now I still roll around laughing while showing them to my kids. The hilarious part is that now I see how many of the jokes went right over my head some of the first times I saw it (and now go over my kids' heads) - but John Cleese is so captivating to watch that you'll be cracking up if you get all the jokes or not.

I think I'm a terrible sinner since I've cruised way too much in the last few years....5/08, 12/08, 9/09, 4/10 hmmmm never a year in-between, I'm noticing a pattern here :rolleyes1

LOL...Guess I'm even worse...9/07, 2/08(BTB), 9/08(BTB), 4/09(wedding cruise), 9/09, 4/10, and we are thinking about 6/10, but thats still up in the air...We love Disney cruise line...We took our first cruise 9/06 and have been on 2 times a year since.

On the Westbound Panama Canal cruise in May 2008 several couples got together some evenings for cookies at Cove cafe and called themselves Geezers since they chose that over going to the clubs.

Early in our planning for this cruise it was suggested that we establish that as a scheduled event since many people on that cruise and also on this one wished they had known about it. The coffee making lady was pleased to have the group each night they came.

But, Geezers Of All Ages do not want their vacations to be "scheduled" they want to relax, so no one wants to set a time or volunteer as coordinator.

If you or anyone else has any suggestions and wants to chime in--have at it :)
.

I was originally supposed to be in charge of the geezer meet but haven't been on the thread regularly. DH and I love the adult entertainment in Rockin Bar D after late dinner so that is where we head. I would suggest having an impromptu meet every evening after late dinner and whoever wants to come later after the show can join in. If no one is there it really doesn't matter since we won't have traveled far to get there. Cove Cafe is our favorite place to relax any time of day, especially the comfy chairs outside.

Welcome to the newbies!

Donna,

You mentioned the entertainment at the Rockin Bar D on a previous cruise. Do they have live music for dancing or something like Beatles trivia, etc.

DH and I enjoyed one of the clubs following our late dinner almost every evening on a 14 day Princess cruise in the spring. Danced so much every day and snorkeled, etc. that I actually came home weighing less!!!

Can I join the club?
This is our number 10 DCL

oh and we have an 11 day Christmas 2010 reservation too

:rolleyes1

I just know Jackie will have some comments about this her and my big sis Di - loved watching all these and Upstairs Downstairs - I grew up watching this stuff - even though I didn't "get" most of it...

great memories -

WELCOME newbies!!!

As far as the counting of sailings - this is only 3 for me... but I do know of ONE couple who has a LOT of sailings under their belts! :rolleyes1 And not just DCL...

I decided I was going to make sure my camera was charged (the underwater one) yesterday....I found the casing for it but not the camera itself. Now I don't know what I did with it! I haven't used it since the WBPC cruise in May of last year....where in the world could I have put it???? :confused3:confused3:confused3

That will need to be my nbr 1 mission of the week....also need to do a few more door magnets (made some for Nan :) ), do some more :laundy: & who knows what else :rotfl:

Monica, I hope you find your camera! It has to be there somewhere!

LOL

That sounded to me like a confessional.

"Father, forgive me, I have sinned. Its been a year and a half since my last cruise..."

May I join? I am new to the boards but would enjoy participating.

I have a ways to go before I can join...this is #2 for me, but then I get right back on the Magic for #3 (doing the B2B) and sailing on #4 next April for the EBTA :cool1:

It looks like I will not be upgraded for this cruise (you're stuck with me for a neighbour Ian ;) ) but I did get upgraded from a cat12 to a cat11 for the B2B portion for the WC :dance3: I know it's not much of an upgrade, but I'm still excited! While I was sort of hoping I would get to stay in the same cabin, my new WC assignment is just around the "corner" so I'm happy it isn't going to be much of a move. Sure wish I had the sideways for the second week, since my daughter is joining me for that one...but as I said, I am still happy for the upgrade from 12 to 11 :thumbsup2

:worship:God knows I too miss the Magic - last cruise we did was the reunite of the "sisters" from our Double Dip in 06 and it was only a 4 nighter and I HATED that... ok, I only hated the part about getting OFF the ship. My sis-in-law (ex) was with us and we did a WDW portion and that was great - but I really had withdrawls... so that's why THIS cruise we hit WDW AFTER the cruise... I think that will work for me better. :thumbsup2

You REALLY hated it because it was only a THEE day cruise! :lmao:

Well, for one thing I check a different box on forms.

Smart Alec........:sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

....now...must go watch Fawlty Towers.

:cool1:We've got that one booked, too! Just debating whether to keep it or transfer it to a maiden voyage cruise on one of the new ships. (If we can be so lucky to snag a stateroom)

Welcome SSMagic.

Wow Emily, saying that it's going to be a busy week is an understatement. Finals and work is enough. Add packing and prepping and I probably wouldn't make it. Bravo for you. You will certainly be deserved of this cruise.....especially after waiting 2 years. :wizard::wizard::wizard:

Thanks!!!! I'm definitely looking forward to it.

Joanie, usually somewhere around ten o'clock there will be an adult show with a comedian, magician or whatever type of performer they have on board for the Welcome Aboard dinner show. After that there will be music and dancing. The clubs usually seem to clear out pretty early as so many families with little ones are on board. DCL has had some lousy bands. I am hoping for some good music this time. The band on the WBPC repo was very good.

Hey, everyone!

My husband, mother in-law and I MAY be joining you. We haven't even booked yet, but just foudn out that we have 400 DVC points that are going to expire and we need to book something pronto! We just cruised the Eastern Caribbean in January. This will be my 10th and my hubby's 9th DCL cruise. We have NEVER planned this last minute before, so this is craaaaazy to us!!! We couldn't be more excited though! We are in the process of moving, so this would be a welcome break! Hopefully, we will know for sure tomorrow!!!!
