September 12, 2009 ~ Last Call for Tortola! Thread 3

I admit I didn't read the whole thread. I just pop in once and a while a read a couple of pages to get a little update, but upon reading about seizures...I have to mention that my dad had horrible seizures when he was young and it was predicted he wouldn't live past teen years. His mother took him to a chiropractor and he never had another seizure again. She went on to become a chiropractor. Through getting help with my own health problems, I am an upper cervical chiropractor now. I have helped lots of patients with seizures reduce or eliminate them. Sorry to those of you with loved ones with seizures! Please look into upper cervical chiropractic, it's very gentle, effective, and safe. A couple of resources are www.nucca.org and www.upcspine.com.

OH MY GOODNESS, I will have to pass this on to my daughter. THANK YOU!!!

That is how the friendships build and grow on the DIS. Your experiences may be just the encouragement or commonality someone else needs to make it through the day.

This goes for you and for everyone else.

 jan

I have to say that we met several DISers in 2002 and have remained very close. We are in contact daily and vacation together yearly. They started out as friends but have become family. The DIS is awesome!

Some FE elements sent off to Monica, FE distribution materials packed up and going into the ship to the ship box. Assembly will be done onboard (as we have the lanyard assembly project to do one evening at WDW).

ADR's....did you hear? They are going back to 180 days at the end of October...also park hours will be announced 180 days in advance.

Pedicure done and vacation reading materials purchased. Discovered a wonderful used book store a couple of miles from my house. They've been open a year and were celebrating their anniversary today....some coffee and treats...too bad (or a good thing, I guess) I had already had my lunch before I went over there.

Now I'm sitting hear staring at the camera cable and trying to interpret the instructions for downloading to the computer. I know it's not difficult I did it once 18 months ago! Once that is completed I will take the traditional first picture of the vacation....my pedicure! :rotfl:

.

I'm happy to see them going back to 180 days. I have everything planned out that far anyway, so it's nice to be able to get everything booked as far ahead as possible.

It was 99 when I left the office in San Francisco on Folsom Friday afternoon, must have been about 120 in my car. yuck! and yuck!

Luckily I decided to buy something from Amazon this morning, otherwise I would not have known that Chase closed my Disney Visa account for "suspected fraud" Hey guys, yes, my husband just spent $500 at Lowe's. Don't you think you could have called me? Fedex-ing new cards. Bummer to lose my Disneyland 50th card.

I guess it is a good souvenir now.

I had a card not work when I had no money with me at the grocery store. I called to find out that there was suspicious activity--a charge of $1 in Washington state. A sign, they lady said, that they are watching to see if anyone notices and if it goes through, they charge MORE! She turned it on so I could buy my groceries and then we got a new card.

She claimed they tried to call me days earlier but the phone number they had was from 5 years earlier......

I guess I would rather have them overcautious though.

Odd coincidence. Yesterday I called Visa (Disney Visa) to have a note put on my account about going away for vacation. I failed the identity check on my mother's maiden name. They went on to some security questions, one was about an address I lived at for 1 year, in 1985 and wasn't exactly sure of the building number and of which I had no clue who they were talking about. They transferred me to the fraud department, more questions, a computer glitch and then still more questions.

I finally cleared things up and apparently, something I had never known, there was attempted fraud on my account and my mother's maiden name was changed on my account.

It all got straightened out, but it took about 45 minutes.

I bet your mother would be surprised to learn that her maiden name was changed.

Morning cruisers!

Today is my last day off before flying to FL, so plenty to do:

Color Hair
Pedicure
Pay Bills
Camera downlowd/memory purge
Go to used book store for beach-side reading material
Finish up box to send to ship
Decide if I want to express order some packing cubes (ebags sale ends today)
Alert next door neighbor to my travel plans

Oh, yeh....and clean the house! :headache:

.

DONE!

Box for the ship won't go out till Wednesday (after I make sure I can close my suitcases)!

Can color hair and pay bills simultaneously, after dinner.

....housework...:confused3

I am too, BUT now I'm stressed about getting everything planned for our trip next May! :rotfl: We are going with extended family and they won't understand having to know where we want to eat so many months in advance! :scared1: Oh well, let them think I'm a freak. We do have to get a good princess breakfast afterall!

Not only did I get my FE gifts all taken care of today, but I've made 22 custom t-shirts this weekend for my family and two pillowcases to have autographed for my sons. Only 7 more t-shirts to go. Maybe 9, Jiffyshirts sent me two that were the wrong color and are sending replacements. If they don't want the wrong colored ones back, I may as well use them!

Now the packing begins...or at least the packing list!

:thumbsup2 This is really pixiedust:,

WOW, 22 shirts. I was tired after making 8. Good for you.

They might not understand it now, but they'll be thankful when you're not the ones waiting around at a restaurant for an hour or trying to find a restaurant when everyone is starving.

Today is my last day of work before vacation!

Well, my Weight Watchers work, not my normal job.

I'm leading my LAST set of 3 meetings this morning before I leave. This is very exciting. I need some Sundays without getting up early. I took all three Sundays off.

I like leading the meetings and counselling members because it so very different from my normal job and career and uses such a different set of skills. Much closer to my original career aspirations, rather than what I've really done for so many years. I mean, I have members who have had astounding results and have discovered new mobility, literally, being able to move and become more independent.

However, there is something to be said of not weighing people.

I have a substitute leader filling in for me while I'm away.

The weird thing is that I'm not allowed to tell the members that I'll be away on vacation. The fear is that they may slack off and not come to meetings, though I will be starting my blog while I'm away.

However, I want my friends here to know that any photos of me passed out on deck 4 with a bottle of Grey Goose in one hand and a big 'ole hunk of chocolate cake in the other, WILL be destroyed!

.
Ahhhhh bribery... talk about the "money" shot! :lmao::rotfl:

I certainly would NOT have the life I do without my chiropractor! Migrain (sp?) headaches are a thing of the past... my great niece DID NOT have to have ear shunts because of their chiro - for me - chiro's are a GOD send!

And so are good Weight Watcher team leaders - wish you were close enough to us Ian - I know I sure could use some motivation!

Have a lovely evening all!

We beat u, 105+ in Sacramento!:headache: It's 11pm and 80 outside.

I've had my share of Disney Visa issues, mostly at Disneyland believe it or not :sad2:

Same card...I had one of those 45 minute calls once too, they went back to my address that was 15+ old. I was part way thru the call and felt like telling them to shove it and use another card for my purchase (At the LA American Girl store on Molly's bday) but I got really mad and wouldn't let them beat me at my own card so kept answering the questions. It was beyond reasonable. :sad2:

Woody - Did you hear me talking about you yesterday afternoon? Thanks for turning me on to the packing cubes and folders prior to our Panama Canal cruise. It not only made the final suitcase packing easier, it's going to make our sojourn in WDW much tidier as we won't have to dig through whole suitcases, as everything is "compartmentalized" in tidy cubes.

So using ziplocks for the kids outfits on our first cruise and labeling them by day/date would be like the cubes on steriods?

For the record I might go the duffel stuff route on this cruise since it's just MOI:snooty:

This looks very good. Are we going to pour sugary syrup all over it?

hmmmm....sounds like dessert from last night at our house, Paul made a cheesecake, I added the fruit to top it with, thinly slices peaches douced in sugar and refridge for couple of hours to soak & thinly slices pears soaked in apple pucker (on hand from the famous sangria recipe of earlier in the summer)

turned out GREAT! :thumbsup2

I do there BREAKFAST ALOT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and I do PIG OUT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

gaRRy

Last time we went I had the Big Kahuna, and John had the 2 eggs your way. See, it is me who pigs out!!! I always feel so very fat and greedy when John does that to me.:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Hi Cruising Tortolians!

DH John did a light grocery shopping this morning....just got a week's worth because we'll be leaving. YEAH!!!!

Don't need to stop the mail because the kid....John's DS....will be staying here taking care of the house and pets.

We spent the afternoon cleaning cruise and everyday jewelry. Now I sparkle. John said he had one tray of jewelry to put in the cleaner....I had about ten. Hahaha....a girl's gotta have her diamonds and pearls.:cutie:

We're done putting together our cast member gifts from home....just to our room stewart and dinner server and assistant. I can't wait to hand out these gifts and my FE gifts too.

I've been keeping my eye on the preseason football games. I love this time of year....and I've been watching for hurricanes too.

As far as dress up goes....we picked up the outfits from the cleaners and they're going in the new garment bag. We LOVE to dress up when given an opportunity. All of my dresses fit loose and comfortably because I lost 36 pounds since May. YEAH!!!

I've got a lot of paperwork to get done this week...so I'm glad I got a head start on preparations for this trip. At least it will make the last week of waiting go fast. YEAH YEAH YEAH!!!:yay::yay::woohoo::woohoo::yay::yay:

Woohoo Deb, fantastic progress with the weight loss!!! I look forward to seeing less of you.

TUT, it is looking like a wet 5 days before the cruise!! That isn't how it is meant to be!!:sad1:

We had enough rain in May/June to last for the year. We blame Monica! She was so happy to see that rain!!!

My lawn STILL needs more rain :lmao::rotfl: Normally in the summer in Florida you DO get rain every day - but usually it's for about 1 hr then it stops. Marilyn---when you went through when you were here last was more unusual :goodvibes
