September 12, 2009 ~ Last Call for Tortola! Thread 3

I agree, the heat was bad today and certainly humid. It hit 102 today in the Berkley Hills (we went up to the Lawrence Hall of Science - they had NO air conditioning...)

Hopefully it will be cooler tomorrow!

It was 99 when I left the office in San Francisco on Folsom Friday afternoon, must have been about 120 in my car. yuck! and yuck!

Luckily I decided to buy something from Amazon this morning, otherwise I would not have known that Chase closed my Disney Visa account for "suspected fraud" Hey guys, yes, my husband just spent $500 at Lowe's. Don't you think you could have called me? Fedex-ing new cards. Bummer to lose my Disneyland 50th card.

...Our Sunday paper has an article in the travel section about the updates to CC planned for the larger ships.

The stingray adventure and the teen beach will be relocated and the family beach extended.
There will be a water play area in Scuttles Cove, the kids programming area.
There will be cabanas with floors, fridges, dining area, bartender.
The are adding Pelican Plunge - two corkscrew slides for ALL ages in the family lagoon.

The tram will have a stop further down on the family beach.
Another food outlet serving the same food called "Cookies Too" (not too creative on that one)

I'll try to find a link to the story.

It should be complete by next summer....

Sounds goooood!!! :goodvibes :beach: :cloud9:

Odd coincidence. Yesterday I called Visa (Disney Visa) to have a note put on my account about going away for vacation. I failed the identity check on my mother's maiden name. They went on to some security questions, one was about an address I lived at for 1 year, in 1985 and wasn't exactly sure of the building number and of which I had no clue who they were talking about. They transferred me to the fraud department, more questions, a computer glitch and then still more questions.

I finally cleared things up and apparently, something I had never known, there was attempted fraud on my account and my mother's maiden name was changed on my account.

It all got straightened out, but it took about 45 minutes.

Today is my last day of work before vacation!

Well, my Weight Watchers work, not my normal job.

I'm leading my LAST set of 3 meetings this morning before I leave. This is very exciting. I need some Sundays without getting up early. I took all three Sundays off.

I like leading the meetings and counselling members because it so very different from my normal job and career and uses such a different set of skills. Much closer to my original career aspirations, rather than what I've really done for so many years. I mean, I have members who have had astounding results and have discovered new mobility, literally, being able to move and become more independent.

However, there is something to be said of not weighing people.

I have a substitute leader filling in for me while I'm away.

The weird thing is that I'm not allowed to tell the members that I'll be away on vacation. The fear is that they may slack off and not come to meetings, though I will be starting my blog while I'm away.

However, I want my friends here to know that any photos of me passed out on deck 4 with a bottle of Grey Goose in one hand and a big 'ole hunk of chocolate cake in the other, WILL be destroyed!

Got it. Great job, as usual.

Woody - Did you hear me talking about you yesterday afternoon? Thanks for turning me on to the packing cubes and folders prior to our Panama Canal cruise. It not only made the final suitcase packing easier, it's going to make our sojourn in WDW much tidier as we won't have to dig through whole suitcases, as everything is "compartmentalized" in tidy cubes.

I admit I didn't read the whole thread. I just pop in once and a while a read a couple of pages to get a little update, but upon reading about seizures...I have to mention that my dad had horrible seizures when he was young and it was predicted he wouldn't live past teen years. His mother took him to a chiropractor and he never had another seizure again. She went on to become a chiropractor. Through getting help with my own health problems, I am an upper cervical chiropractor now. I have helped lots of patients with seizures reduce or eliminate them. Sorry to those of you with loved ones with seizures! Please look into upper cervical chiropractic, it's very gentle, effective, and safe. A couple of resources are www.nucca.org and www.upcspine.com.

Did you see I posted links to eBags discounts the other day? Also, I've had really good experience with their shiiping speed.

Yes, saw that post, which is what got me thinking.

My plan was to have one suitecase for cruise only stuff and the other with WDW stuff plus personal items, but I don't think it's going to work that way 'volume wise/suitecase size'. If I used the cubes I can pack THEM with that designation, then load the two suitcases in whatever manner best fits. Although.....I really need to stop spending money right now! :sad2:

Hisselfness and I were discussing this this morning. We've decided in WDW to act like we normally do and just wear a couple of shirts and shorts and keep laundering them. Not start getting into all the clothing. Fortunately the cubes make this so incredibly easy and simple.

My ears were burning.

I'm glad the packing cubes and folders worked out so well for you. We use them all the time.

I remember when you first asked what they are, how they work, then your enthusiasm when you used them on the WB PC.

Well I have half packed the cruise case, so that means I have started with the finer sorting of things. I think I have most things out now that I want to pack but need to decide which dress to take for semi formal. Not that anything is actually formal that I am taking, and the other dress is more a normal dress really!!! I'm not really a dress person - seem to be the wrong shape somehow. Looks like I will have a lot of clothes as usual!!!!!:lmao: Going to print magnets tonight and other documents that need printing.

Other things are ready to be moved out of the bedrooms ready for the onslaught on Tuesday of the builders(woohoo, they are actually coming) who are knocking through from the extension into the two bedrooms, and the plumber and electrician.:headache::headache::headache: I have been told I can go off shopping.:thumbsup2 John is going to supervise here. I should have booked a back massage!!

Bank holiday tomorrow(public Hol), so John is here to get things moved. Wardrobe needs to be moved out, and bed upended. The builders said they should have the extension plastered on Friday. Going to be a fun week I think.

Ian, Cheri, Monica: What say we order one of these 'for the table' at our Kona breakfast? Can't pass up the pancakes, but a few bites of this wholesomeness would be lovely! :thumbsup2

This looks very good. Are we going to pour sugary syrup all over it?

Although not as exciting as a launch, if things go to plan the shuttle (STS 128 I believe) should be returning to earth on Thursday 10th September. It launched yesterday on a 13 day mission.
