Hi All!
Thanks to my DMIL for introducing me to the site and for all the info about the intinerary for the cruise (We are starting to get the priate costumes ready). DH and I were engaged on the Wonder in September 2006 and will be cruising again for Totrola (WOO HOO!!!), this time bringing along our 9 month old daughter. Any suggestions from families who have cruised with children under or around age 1 would be greatly appreciated. We found out about Babies Travel Lite to help out with stocking the room with all of her diapers/food/bath & sun needs etc for less to haul down. Ideas and suggestions greatly appreicated!!

:welcome: Welcome! :welcome:

Don't know anything about babies, but glad to offer advice on other stuff.

:cheer2:Welcome to the DISboards! And welcome to our happy group!:cheer2:

ROLLING COOLERS.........alright who here has personally brought on one of those cubed shaped soft sided, rolling coolers????? The DCL site says coolers have to be 22x14x9. Yeah right....seen any that have one dimenstion that is only 9 inches....don't think so! So tell me you have one of those cubed shaped ones, that you packed it full, and it fit through the scanner.

I saw a nice tote bag size, shoulder strap cooler bags that would be great for just a couple bottles of wine/booze/champagne. Wouldn't be too awful to have to schlep around till the staterooms were ready. I may shop around for one of those. I'd love to bring on my own bottle of Rosa Regale! :thumbsup2

.

And I was just about to say that the photo looked familiar!

SSR does have one of the nicest patios around, and patios at full service restaurants in WDW are a rarity.

Having been there several times, I also think that Artist's Palette, is one of the nicest quick service resort spots, though we did not get to eat there on this last trip.

And it looks SO much like the REAL Saratoga Springs...

I also have a park going question for y'all.

Morning EMH (extra magic hour)....embrace or avoid?

Discuss.................

I'm specifically looking at AK. An 8AM EMH arrival, would possibly require a 7AM resort departure from the Boardwalk. It would proved extra time at the cooler part of the day and the animals on the Safari are more likely to be active. Trying to make a recommendation for Peg & Jose (as I have to do a lunch ADR at Yak & Yeti for them).

If you are a morning person... EMBRACE, EMBRACE, EMBRACE the EMH for AK! The animals are amazing. On DH and my trip last year we did AK EMH morning and were very early for the safari (still misty out) and it was the BEST safari we have ever had. We saw more animals than we had ever seen before (on over probably 10+ safari journeys)

I may differ from the general consensus, but my opinion is avoid unless there is some specific ride you want that's open, and even then, avoid.

Here's my rationale, it's a gimmick that causes the park to be unnecessarily crowded on those mornings. So I specifically go to parks that do not have morning extra magic hours.

I do think you can have more success with open late extra magic hours.

What works for us is:

- Avoid EMH
- Go to a different park but get there at opening

We have done this strategy with AK several time and every time we only have a 15 to 20 minute wait for Everest (if that's what floats your boat.)

So Ian, you would suggest doing AK on the day there was perhaps MK morning EMH....assuming that many resort guests would be heading over there...hence the AK park would be less busy all morning long. Except for DISers, who pretty much follow the avoid theory too. :lmao:

I'm generally of the avoid EMH school, but Animal Kingdom does kind of call to me for early arrival. I think it's the hottest park, so being there the coolest part of the day, and bailing out sooner feels right. And you can't fight the animals are more active issue, as DisPrincess notes!

Funny, I didn't even look at the schedule for our day at AK, perhaps I should check that out!

Welcome!

We're traveling with our 7 month old daughter (and 3yr and 4yr old sons.) We've traveled a ton with our kids! Let me know if you have any specific questions. Babies are generally pretty easy to travel with. They do what you want to do! Find some good beaches to go to on port days. We've gone to Maagen's Bay before and loved it. I love taking a nap with a baby on me hearing the waves while the wind blows gently at the beach. We may go to Saphire Beach this time though. I haven't researched beaches on Tortola yet. We may get off briefly (to say we've been there) but spend most of the day on the ship beause our DSs would enjoy the less crowded pools.

I think timing it for when MK has EMH is a good idea. MK causes all sorts of mass hysteria, so should, in theory, siphon people away from AK (providing it isn't a weekend).

16 x 12 x 9.....easily fits withing the DCL guideline of 22x14x9

Ian... I am extremely impressed at how you are trying to get Freedonia out of our financial crisis...

You selling pepsi products on the cruise too?

Nice to have you sailing with us..

:guilty: Today just stinks!! :guilty: I feel so helpless between my DH, my Dad and my FIL all having a yuky today, and I can't help any of them..

:sad1:

I knew this was going to be a bad one today for DH, but I wasn't even thinking how hard it was going to be on our "Dads" too :sad2:

I have been working on some t-shirts, for the cruise.

I rather like the military green.

For some odd reason, each of my cruises keep coming back to the Roosevelts!

These are the men's, I put some ladies up too. I'll have to see how many people Nan and I can alienate. How many people does the ship hold?

Glad to be of help.
