September 12, 2009 ~ Last Call for Tortola! Thread 2

Here's the link to Shirley's helpful thread that has lots of info about Port Canaveral/Cocoa Beach hotels. There will also be info about grocery and liquor stores. I know Deb (EllaEnchanted) and Cheri (NotSoLittleMermaid) have stayed in that area pre-cruise, so they may be able to chime in with some helpful hints.

Sister Peg (HI PEG) and brother Paul are staying on the beach and paying a modest shuttle charge to get to the port.

DUH....would help if I put in the link, eh?

Yes, we stay in Cocoa Beach too but we have a car. I don't know how to get around without one???

btw, we're meeting at Fishlips the night before the cruise....if you would like, why don't you join us.:rolleyes1
:wizard:

Just saw that the new menues will start on the Magic on June 20 (the next Tortola cruise). The rotational menues and Pirate night will be the same as they are on the Wonder right now. Captain's Gala and Till We Meet Again will be the surprise.

There she is folks, the one with her ear to the ground...

Sister - I'll get you money this week. I didn't have any cash this entire trip and didn't need any - how COOL is that?

Jan you may post this on page one and I'll have a current photo by MONTH end when I get back from North Carolina! NO FE for me...sorry. OH that Michelle - what am I to do with her???

When I went back to get that picture I got an error message saying it had been moved or deleted. Sorry.

I think that we changed our mind - they added an excursion to a beach resort - Long Bay - we will probably do this one - feel better about just hanging at the beach with the baby and skipping the bus ride. I just think that she will get bored and antsy. Oh well - it's all about the 2 year old princess:

Oh I completely understand....that's the way it has to be when you have a little one. If she's happy, then you'll all be happy.:)

7am on 6/21.....oh, I have a long way to wait. I'm not staying on property. I just want to book Ohana and the Princess lunch at the castle. I'll do it myself so that I know what I'm getting.

Thanks Jacks.....very helpful.

If you're not staying on property, you'll have to book each one, at the 90-day mark, each one booked separately at it's own 90-day mark.

Then you'll have to do each of those at 90 days before the date you want for each of them. For example, if you want Princess lunch on Sunday 9/20, you would book that at 7AM on 6/22. I'd say decide now which is the #1 priority and try for that one for Saturday 2/19, then if you can't get it you can try for the other and then keep try each morning for the one you didn't get. Don't be disheartened if you can't get them (both VERY popular). You can keep calling periodically as the summer progresses, hoping for cancellations or additional booking opening up.

.

Thanks sweetie:thumbsup2

If not this time, then maybe next time. We'll get there eventually.

7620 (partial obstruction verandah) may now be available.

Just saw this post from Epperbiker:

If you already have a Cat 7 and want to move over, you'll be getting more 'view' for your buck.

Jan, you can removed Epperbiker from the role call.:sad1:

.

Thanks Jackie for the info. I am constantly and consistently amazed at how you learn stuff. What a gal!

IS THERE ANYONE I HAVE FORGOTTEN TO POST ON PAGE 1 POST 1 ??

F/E Questions:
Do we have a separate list of FE participants with kids and their ages? Or is it just on Page 1?
Do we know if the list is up to date?

I would hate for you to miss a "princess" lunch.

Considering what Disney, considers "princesses," scullery maids, servants, girls with rabbit fetishes, poor people from failed "inventor" homes, I would be happy to create a princess luncheon on board ship for you.

I can assemble much more interesting princesses than Disney can and so you don't miss out, would be happy to create an Eastwood Manor Princess Lunch.

These are princesses exclusive to the Eastwood Manor franchise. I can rustle up one princess who has a penchant for rum, another one, has recently become enamored with tattoos, and I can even find one who is a bookish type.

Just say the word, and you'll have more princesses than you can shake a martini at!

And as always, I advise people to shop wisely, when shopping for princesses.

Thank you for this handy guide, Mr. Ian.

signed,

the bookish one

We have a CC Cabana Massage booked for 2.00-2.50pm.

The kids clubs closes at 3pm - will there be enough time to get back to pick up the little darlings from the kids clubs that day?

Hmmm. Quotes, like: "Stop snoring," and "Wake up."

Just have to cocktail waitress tap me on the shoulder..

I'm thinking of buying Nan a cocktail hat for the cruise.

Which one do you think suits her best?

This one:

#2... but you'll have to get one big enough for her bubba mug... :rotfl2:

Does this make you a 'lush' then Monica? (According to Michelle that is? I have no idea what it means!!!:lmao::lmao:

I guess so :lmao::rotfl2: (it means someone who drinks A LOT!)

Ohhh who listens to me??? :snooty:

Greetings 9/12 cruisers! 9/19 cruiser here. Just wanted to drop by and ask a favor, esp. if you are in SR 6528. Please do not:

  • :woohoo: on the bedspread and/or blanket, esp. alone.
  • Sit bare-arsed on the bedspread, sofa, floor, desk, veranda chairs, etc. Basically anywhere other than the toilet.
  • Use the phone.
  • Use the remote.
  • Use the lightswitches.
  • Use the doorknobs.
  • Walk on the carpet.

Thanks in advance! Enjoy your cruise! :thumbsup2

:scared:

Ohh just bring lysol...

Thanks!

Two things nice about being home are: You don't need quarters to do laundry, and the internet doesn't cost 55 cents a minute.

Woody

Hey Woody... I was wondering... what was more expensive... the cost of the cruise or the tips for 70 days????

We've done it before and no doubt Dick will wanna do so again - we like wine with dinner... :lovestruc Not sure one bottle would be enough for three or four tho' - maybe two wine packages trying red and white??? :rolleyes1 :cool2:

Seriously tho' you don't have to drink a bottle per night - the opened bottle will "follow" you on your rotation and you can take up to two unopened bottles off the Magic at the end of the cruise...

Wow - how we are divided by a common language!!! :lmao::rotfl2::lmao: Over in the UK, 'lush' is complimentary and means attractive and desirable!!! :scared1: The girl giving me a pedicure described my Pandora bracelet as 'lush' the other day!!! She's right too, it IS lush...

Two wine packages sounds even better!

I wonder if they would just let us take an opened bottle on deck for some sipping?

Not quite so divided, we would use "lush" to talk about a resort.

It has the meaning being one who drinks to excess (a lush) and also:

1a. Having or characterized by luxuriant vegetation. b. Abundant; plentiful. See synonyms at profuse. c. Extremely productive; thriving. 2a. Luxurious; opulent: the lush décor of a grand hotel. b. Extremely pleasing to the senses: a lush scent; lush fruit; the lush sounds of an orchestra. c. Voluptuous or sensual. 3. Overelaborate or extravagant: lush rhetoric.

I'm SO glad I've started a educational subject (nice to have you back in tip top shape Ian...)

How about the sneezing  nudist's bed-wetters slumber party!:rolleyes1

this is beginning to sound like a Nyquil commercial.. :rotfl2:

I hadn't thought about it, but the tips cost more than the cost of our Tortola cruise. Ouch!

Just don't touch my lobster and we'll be fine ;)

I update it whenever someone posts an intent on this Thread or sends me a PM so it is as up-to-date as possible. :thumbsup2

No one has taken a lead in organization at this point. If you want to head it up, I am sure no one will mind. On my past cruises whoever wanted to get it started just did it. If you choose to do it, you are them free to organize it as you prefer.

My suggestion is to take the names from page 1 post 1 and post the list here on the thread and invite others to join and to share their ideas for how to handle the event.

Jan :)
:banana:Have fun!!

Did you miss the Mickey Bars?
While we missed the Mickey Bars (momentarily), they had a hand scooped ice cream bar with five or six flavors daily (flavors often changed), an extensive assortment of toppings, and adult toppings such as Creme de Menthe, Peppermint Schnapps, and Creme Curacoa. They also had soft serve.
