Kay,

When do you arrive in Florida?

What was your rationale for wanting the earlier seating in the first place? Does that rationale still apply?

We arrive a week before the cruise. I suppose we wanted early seating because in some ways it is the main dining time, and we have kids, but we may still be on Pacific Time (or maybe not) plus we are late eaters anyway. I also heard that there is yummy food available at 7 (to tide late diners over) so perhaps being on late dining was not a bad idea.

1st thing I'd recommend is DON"T change it back to late until you're sure that's what you want to do. It's usually a lot easier to change to late than it is to confirm main.

I've always gone with late dining as to not have to worry about cutting my day short - especially if at a port - to rush back for dinner. Bear in mind that I've never sailed w/ kids. 1 bad thing about late dining is that you have a tendancy to be late for any deck parties/shows (like Pirate night - I've never seen the beginning of that show).

None of that probably help :lmao::rotfl: Sorry if I confused you more :rotfl2:

Not having to rush is a plus for us, after all we are on vacation. We also missed a lot of the character photo ops over dinner time on our last cruise.

We can always work around pirate night. There is always Topsiders - never tried that for dinner. :thumbsup2

Kay, one late seating advantage may be that you go to the early shows and then the kids want to do evening activities at the clubs.

As Ian points out, if you've been in FL a couple of days before the cruise, you are more acclimated (sp?) to the time change, however.

see...not much help here either......

We saw all the shows last time, DH is not really into them. DS would probably rather go to the kids clubs. If DCL still do the kids club pick up for late dinner, that would be good. Last time I think DH and I ate alone for the last 2 or 3 nights as the kids stayed in the clubs for dinner.

We did miss our character breakfast last time because we were on early dinner (and therefore early breakfast time). In fact I think we slept through it. :rotf

Perhaps late dining will give us a whole new experience on the cruise - we will be able to do some of the things we missed last time.

I think I am leaning towards late dining, but I will keep it as early for now. As mentioned, it is easier to switch up to late dining than to switch down to early.

Anyway, there sounds like there is a bunch of nutters on late dining. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 (Oh, there's a thought, does 'nutters' mean the same in the US as the UK. In the UK it can be used to signify mad / silly people - in a nice way of course:laughing:)

Still looking for a place to stay pre-cruise?

Call DCL if you booked through them, or your TA, as they are still offering a special rate at the Swan($110 including tax) for some dates.

If anyone checks it out....please report back here.

.

Deb - I have you, Cheri, & Kathe sitting w/ Nan & I (plus my non-dis friends) & will have our ressies linked up after the 90 day mark. I figure if we then link ressies w/ Ian & Sukie, Marilyn & John, Kaz & Dick (if they want) & Jackie & clan then we should all be around each other & can table hop if we want to :goodvibes

It sounds like Sukie and I are still chopped liver.

NEVER!! Wasn't sure if you were comfortable sitting w/ non-disers :lmao:

So we're not chopped liver, eh? And I suppose that now we're pate?

We still don't have tablemates, so that means we are now going to make complete strangers miserable.

Glad you had a good experience w/ the ins - rare to have good CS.

I'm hijacking you (or I guess it'd be kidnapping you) and keeping you hostage at my table (if that's ok w/ you). Just pm me your res cf and I'll link us all together once the night of the fishes comes & goes.

I FEEL SO LEFT OUT...:sad::sad::sad::sad:

I saw your post about great Cat 12 rates for our cruise, good job.

I don't think we'd be offended by the term "nutters" at least I'm not offended. Also having lived in the UK for 3.5 years plus living with a Brit about the house, I'm completely bilingual.

I think most Americans would grasp the meaning and not get offended.

We have never done anything other than the late seating. Keep in mind that each seating is split into 3 groups.

On our last cruise we were in the last group for the late seating. I found it to be rather late and we got out of dinner rather late. However, given my choice of possibly getting stuck with dinner at 5:30 in the afternoon, or dinner very late, I'd much rather have very late. For me, 5:30 in the afternoon is much too early to be having dinner.

The only downside is that for the party nights, if you are in the very last group, it is possible to be still eating dinner while the "party" has started.

Again, that's not enough to deter us.

I haven't but my sister has - To be honest she said it was a total nightmare - crazy and wild kids everywhere. You have to take into account she doesn't have any kids herself. This was a few years ago though. How old is your dd?

She'll have just turned fifteen, looks a little older if she dresses up. We're just going for a little sitting around in the sun doing nothing and stuffing our faces with food I don't have to cook. Oh, and drinking (for me). I'm more concerned with drunken males. She doesn't have much in the way of experience with drunken males.

Monica look: it's OUR chairs!

These two chairs are where Monica and I spent the entire day we were at Puerto Vallarta....Monica had larangitis and I felt 'stuffy' and we needed to rest up for CABO!

:thumbsup2 I've been on 4 cruises and can honestly say I have never seen this part of the ship before!!! :lmao::rotfl::lmao:

You haven't been on the comfy chairs outside Cove Cafe? (These are on the Magic, don't know about the Wonder.) When they moved the smoking section to the other side of the ship a while back they re-did this area. Just at the far back of the picture, you can see the 'loveseats' that match these chairs. A pair of them face each other with a table between. Then just beyond them (by the pool, but along the rail) are double sized loungers with blue pads.

Good morning. I seem to be up at the crack of dawn today! I'll be making some calls to the East this morning, so I'm waiting patiently for 6AM to arrive here, so those places of business will be open.

Nope!!! And they look so comfy!!! That's why I love cruising with DCL - there's still so much I have to see/learn/experience... :thumbsup2

Having one of those days where, despite needing (no really, there are cobwebs everywhere - it's like living in the Haunted Mansion!!!) to clean the house from top to bottom, I can't stop fiddling with dates and cruises on the DCL website!!! :surfweb:

I have realised that the August 28 Med cruise might be a good fit for me and the baby (AKA Samuel - almost 16 but ever the baby to me!) and it's a-tempting me... :goodvibes

HI Kaz! Are you done w/ the exams yet?

Got the newest D23 mag in the mail yesterday :)
