A reliable sourse had informed me that
one of the ports for the 11 sep cruise
may be Costa Meya, So has anyone been ?

Just my 2 cents but where the 9/11 cruise goes will depend on where Ivan ISN'T.

DD called me from Costa Maya and said it was beautiful and very unspoiled. Not as commercialized as some of the other ports.

Don't know anything about the excursions. Give the folks who just got back from the Magic a day or two to get home and back to normal and I'm sure you'll get some response.

Plan to have fun and be flexible.

I just got back from Costa Maya and it was my FAVORITE port. I will tell you why. We have 3 kids DS 10, DS 8, DD 4. Costa Maya is free do not pay for any excurstions. ( sorry for spelling still have sea legs, only back 5 hrs from the LONG disney crusise of th 28th). You walk in a small shopping area with beautiful Mexican Pottery however, be careful bringing it home, mine was in pieces. In the middle of this shopping area is a good sized salt water pool, only about 4ft deep. on both sides are 2 mexican resturants with sim up bars.  on the surrounding areas of the pool the people put on Mexican shows. Hat dance and such. I LOVED it. having children, I copuld always keep an eye on them never worry about drowning, ( they also have to the side a very large wadding pool area that also swam right up to everything else) Have a great time!! I will be Jealous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We're on the 9/11 Magic trip. Now I hope we go to there! It sounds great!

Also was on the 28th cruise to Costa Maya (hi Patti). We unfortunately booked an excursion in Costa Maya and didn't have the greatest time. It was a very nice port and as CM_Mom said the area is not commercialized at all so the little complex at the port is pretty much all there is nearby to do. Not knowing about this little area until AFTER we booked the excursions there, we booked the Bike and Kayak Tour. The description on beautiful trails and photo ops sold us and it was not what we were expecting at all. The bike ride was down a road with nothing at all on it other than woods and then on the side of the highway to the small fishing village which was very quaint. Our guide mentioned that they only just got electricity there 8 months ago when we took a break behind a field of some sort. We kayaked from a beach in the village around the pier to the beach around the other side and then a small break there and back again. The area was very peaceful. It just wasn't what I was expecting from the excursion. The guides were very nice and the group was only three couples from the ship. I wish we would have skipped an excursion and just enjoyed the area near the port - everyone I talked to loved it!

We were also on the Magic when it stopped at Costa Maya. It was very pretty, the guys in some of the shops would bargain, and we were able to get our Costa Maya charm for the Diamonds Intl charm bracelet (which was free at the Diamonds Intl shop located in the Forum shops, Cozumel Mexico).

Have fun!!
