Another question: Anyone ordering a basket from Shirley? I was thinking of getting one for DH as a surprise but I can't figure out what to put in the thing. Any thoughts?

I plan on it but I can't decide what to put in my kids baskets either.
:confused3
really don't want to do the candy thing, they have snorkles and fins.
Its hard to decide.
Any help would be appreciated.

Are you making your own, or having Shirley make one? I wouldn't want to do candy either, there are so many treats on the ship. Maybe some stuff for your kids to do...like books, magazines, deck of cards (there are some cool plastic Uno ones that are good around water,...I was just thinking of things they could do while on the beach or in the room at night. Also some cute Disney trinket would be fun...whether it is a stuff mickey, stickers, mug, keychain...depends on your girls.

I can't wait to do one for my DS, but now he is only 2 and won't really get it or appreciate it....maybe DH would?! LOL

My fiance and I made bags for each of the three cabins attending our wedding. This is what we included and it may give you some ideas...
**Playing cards ** Some Candy (NO chocolate!) ** Bubbles for sail away** Pirate eye patches** Glow necklaces for deck parties** Battery powered hand-held fans** Mad Libs/Yes and Know Invisable Ink books ** Towels from The Disney Store (They are on sale for $7 right now!) ** Fake tatoos ** a couple of sand toys ** water guns ** magnets to decorate doors with **

We put everything in these cute mesh beach bags too to give everyone a bag to have with them.

I just was saying maybe I should do one for DH instead of DS...I don't know what Shirley has to choose from, or do you send stuff to her...? Anyway, I think if I were making one for my DH I would put in a book, some sunscreen (he always gets red!), some new earphones for his iPod, and maybe a new mickey tie to wear when he dresses up. I don't know, just a few things I was thinking of. DHs are hard to buy for sometimes, I know!

fltink,
Great ideas thanks

Thanks! Oh! And I forgot....we included giant plastic mugs with covers so that people can get soda up at the beverage station on deck 9 to take back to the room with them or to the pool!

Shirley said she will let you add your own stuff. You just have to mail it to her.

I was thinking of dcl beach towels. Maybe some Giner Ale b/c he's bring Crown with us and his drink is giner and crown. I also thought about adding some UGA stuff since it's football season like a new UGA polo since his is getting old.

By the way if we have any UGA fans on this cruise my DH and I will be in Diversions at 530 to hopefully watch the UGA vs USC (south carolina for those not from the south) on ESPN.

Jen - when is your son's birthday? I mean did he just turn 2 or is he about to be 3? My son will turn 3 in December, but he looks like he is about 4 already. I think he will have so much fun. My only concern is, whether I should bring my portable dvd player for him. He is SO into Thomas the Train and Bob the Builder right now and we watch a "movie" every night before bed. I know they have the Disney movie channel, but I'm scared he might have a Bob fit one night.

29 days to go! Yeeee-haaaa! Hmmm..... looks like I am one of the only ones that didn't get an upgrade. I guess they didn't have any upgrades for Cat. 12s.

Checked again this morning. No upgrade for me either. Booked an 11, still in an 11. But I told hubby I'd much rather cruise every year in an 11 than every 3 years in a 5. pirate:

Another great item for gift bags...... I know we LOVE going to the movie onboard. Since the movie candy you have to pay for seperate AND it's expensive, throw in the bag some of the big boxes of Wonka candy (Gobstoppers, Nerds, etc.) They won't melt and they'll last you through a few films.

OH my gosh, no one ever told me about DCL having a dessert buffet. I just saw pics on it on another thread. YUMMY!!! Does anyone (Fltink???) know when they have this? I know DH will not want to miss this.

His first question when I went to book this a year ago was how much food can he order esp desserts. The funny part is my DH is not very big (he's tall) but he eats A LOT!!!

just got my stateroom assignment today!

booked cat. 12, assigned room #6317, cat. 11. we are pleased.

On Pirate Night there is a midnite buffet on Deck 9 that has a lot of desserts. On the night of Captain's Gala (Thursday) they used to have a chocolate dessert buffet in Lumieres. I think they still do it.

I just checked the DCL site and we've been upgraded from a cat 12 to a cat 8!!! We're in 5008! It's going to be perfect since both our girls (8, 10) will be going to the Oceaneer Lab which is on the same deck. I'm so excited! This is our first cruise; what a great start! :cheer2:

Yesterday my travel agent called me and I said do you have my cruise docs she said no, I said well you must be calling me to tell me that I have been upgraded, she said yes I am, how did you know, I said well on the Disboard people were posting that they got upgraded and I looked at the DCL website and found out that I was upgraded. She was so happy for me, I love my TA, I have booked things through her before and she is always great.

4 weeks from today we will all be getting ready to board the Magic.

I'm so excited!!! It gives me something to look forward too b/c the next several weekends until the cruise I will be running around like crazy and trying to study for the next section of the CPA exam. I will definitly need a break in 4 weeks (and maybe even see my DH for more then 5 minutes).

I just checked my reservation as well, I was in cat 9 in room 2144 deluxe ocean view, now I am in cat 9 deluxe ocean view room 6562, but when I checked the Disney Cruise Line website ship tour, this is a Deluxe Stateroom with Verandah cat 5 or 6. Wonder what that means. :confused3
I thought at first I had turned the last two numbers around, but no it says 6562. I was hoping for an upgrade but didn't think I would get one. I am one happy girl!!!!

Congratulations on your upgrade! Looks like we'll be neighbors. We're staying in room 6584 .

My 3-yr old son and I are in 6134, so we're not too far away from you guys. That is, unless our room has changed too. That's what we were given when we booked.

Can't wait to meet everybody first day!

I think bringing a portable DVD player is a good idea, especially at his age. For our first cruise, my son had just turned 3 the week before and we spent a lot of time in the room because he took long naps still and always got tired from all the activities. DVDs from home would be a good way to give your son the down-time he might need occasionally. ;) Granted, it's no fun to be stuck in your room on an awesome CRUISE, but there's not much you can do about it at his age, so might as make it the best you can. :earboy2:

Guess who's going on a Disney Cruise in just 4 weeks from today?????

WE ALL ARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cool1:
