September 10, 2005 - Western Cruise!

It's just difficult to get excited about the cruise when there is so much misery going on due to the hurricane.

I know. I've got the DISboards up on one tab and the news sites up on another. Very disturbing to see all this devastation. There's no way that N.O. will be the same again.

But after the week we've had here (had to put down our 4 yr old pup this week), this vacation can't come soon enough.

Oh no, how sad for you! We had one of our dogs die about a month ago. We adopted him as a stray, and had him for 7 years. My DD was devastated! He had the sweetest soul of any pet I've ever had. I had to keep reminding DD that Blackie was now free of any pain and suffering, and was very happy in dog heaven.

....I know I've made this point clear before so please excuse me when I say.........

WE ARE LEAVING SOOOOOOOOOO SOON!!!!!!!!!!!

Yea, it is. My DW is devastated. That was "her boy" (English Springer Spaniel). Came down with lymphoma.

One week for me!!! I can't even imagine what I will be like this time next Wednesday!

woj - I am excited about the trip but I can't ignore your sad news. I've never had to put a pet down, but I've heard that is one of the hardest things you can do. I'm really sorry!

HEY!!!! I finally got my docs today! Yeah, I know I can get them online, but it just makes it so much more real to have them in my hand! :) Included in the package was a little stuffed Mickey Mouse with magnets in his hands and feet that my son went NUTS over! Gotta love Disney! :)

Thanks for the kind words Kelly. It was a first for us.

Looking forward to meeting all the kind people on this thread at the meet on Saturday.

that makes me so sad,
we had to put down our 18 year old puppy :dog: 2 years ago, and I still miss her.
she had a great long life. My mom still has pictures of her all around the house.

an 18-year-old dog??? :earseek:

What kind of dog did you have? Our's died at 13 years almost 2 years ago and we still get sad, too.

Woj - I'm so sorry for your loss!!! I know what dogs mean. Look at my sign and you know that those two are our babies. I wouldn't know what to do without them esp when I'm stressed out and need some good licks and tail wags.

Believe me FLtink i'm really wishing this week to be over and to finally take a vacation. Compared to others in N.O. and Mississippi it really has not been that bad this week. But for us this week has been horrible and stressful. There's just way to many things happening right now and to get on that boat and not do anything will be wonderful!!!!!!!!!

okay my mom kept her alive on drugs,
she was a pomeranian (sp)
she had all kinds of health problems, conjestive heart disease, high blood pressure, she has breast cancer once, she had digestive problems, going blind couldn't hear, she had to have most of her teeth pulled, you all just would not believe it. We got her when she was 6 weeks old and she barley weighed a pound, she only weighed 5 when we put her down, I loved that dog so much. My mom had her cremated, yes I mean she really did, Tynicki is right now in her special little gold box sitting on the mantel and when my mother dies I am suppose to put Tynicki in the casket with my mother. :confused3
If you want to see our little baby, I'll post the address so you all can see her,
I don't know if it will let you connect directly, never have tried to do this before.

www.valleyanimalhospital.com/VAH_home_frame.htm

she is pictured right under the words
"An angel on earth,
Angel in Heaven,
she is the middle picture, she is wearing what looks like a blue diaper, its not,my mother carried her around in a dog carrier just like a baby. The dog had a better life than I did growing up.

Oh no! Not the Rainbow Bridge! Every time I've ever read that, it makes me want to cry!

Judy

Woj68 I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I have never lost a dog but but rather my cat when I was younger, now I am allergic so can't have any pets ( :sad2: ) but I know how much it hurts, especially for kids.

I have to see if I can get my dining assignment changed when I get on board. We were waitlisted for first and we were hoping we could get it because my DH has reflux and because we moved we don't have a doctor right now so I couldn't get the medical form filled out. So hopefully we can change it onboard. If not I am still going to enjoy this vacation!! Fltink do you know where you go to do this?

I keep checking the boards and I love to post just to see my countdown ticking away the days!! We are excited to meet everyone, we will be the family in tie-dye shirts with Mickey on them. I saw a post on another board so I thought I would try them. They turned out ok but my husband says his looks like a conehead mickey :rotfl:

mom+3girls: I just checked out the picture and what a cute little dog she was! I've never heard of a memorial website like that for pets....really cool idea!

Daisy, that is so true. Dogs give TRUE unconditional love. It doesn't matter what you look like, smell like, or anything; my dogs always seem OVERJOYED to see me. 5 minutes thowing the ball to my dogs, and a whole day's stress can melt away.

mcraft17: Sorry to butt in, but my co-worker friend told me right when we get onboard, there's somewhere you can get in line to talk to somebody about switching to early seating. The only problem is that I can't remember where she told me to go! And she leaves tomorrow to go on the cruise right before us. I'll try to remember to call her at work tomorrow (I have the day off) before she leaves and ask her. I need to try to switch as well because last time we had late seating and my son fell asleep at dinner every night, then woke up hungry in the middle of the night. Then he was tired (and grouchy) the next day from staying up way past his bedtime and ended up taking 3-4 hour naps in the afternoon. I don't want a repeat of that! But if we can't switch, I have no problem just eating at Topsiders (the buffet) or at Pluto's Doghouse (pizza and burgers) instead. :)

7 more days next wednesday we will be at Saratoga springs, and The magic kingdom!

oh yea I wont have to buy gas for another 3 weeks or so I figured! $1.12 a litre!!! it was 98.2 yesterday! crazy! and your telling me my gas comes from the south i dont think so! its crazy or what! just a reason for every oil company or gas to raise there price threw the roof! Gas was .45 a litre like 5 years ago!
