September 10, 2005 - Western Cruise!

OK, apparently I have too much time on my hands today :bounce:

I just read another thread where someone posted the menu for the pirate night buffet. I assume this is up on deck 9 when the party starts. I think we may skip the restaurant that night, and just eat at the party. Then I could wear shorts, right?

I know, I'm obsessing. But isn't that half the fun?

What is everyone else doing, if you are not wearing a costume?

Hi Judy, last time I wore really long shorts, just about knee length, and did not feel out of place at all. Nobody looked at me funny or anything.

We're not going to pirate night. We have palo dinner that night. But I didn't know they have a buffet that night? Any info on this like what's on it?

which night is this pirate night? and where are we that day?

I think Pirate night is Wednesday (Cozumel). I only say that because we're at sea the next day and they do Pirate night before an at sea day. That's because they know you can sleep in the next day after being up really late for the party/buffet/fireworks. Last time, we finally gave up at midnight, but the party was still in full force. I wish I could have stayed, but that's the latest my 3 year old had ever stayed up! VERY fun night!

The buffet is after dinner, but I'm not sure what time it starts. I'm thinking 10pm or so. Can't remember. It's set up out on deck at pirate party. I remember seeing lots of fruit, TONS OF DESSERTS, and some different kinds of meats, maybe stuff for sandwiches? Somebody please correct me if my memory is not too accurate. I was too full to even touch it, but the desserts looked awesome!

Yep, it's Wednesday (Cozumel night).

This menu was on another thread where someone was asking about pirate night:

Appetizers: Blackbeards Jumbo Crabcakes, Cannon Smoked BBQ Chicken Drumsticks, The Buccaneer's Sun Ripened Pineapple, Pearls of the Caribbean

Bread Speciality: Jamaican Banan Bread Loaf
Soups and Salads: Chilled-to- the Bone Honeydew Melon and Mango Soup, Caribbean Style Spicy Veggie Gumbo Soup, Hideaway Bay Salad, Jerk Chicken Salad, Mr Smee's Bib Lettuce

Main Course: Treasure of the Seas Grilled Shrimp and Seared Scallops, Jack Sparrow's Fruit Marinated Roasted Loin of Pork, CC Chicken Breast Rubbed with Pirate Island Spice, Capt n Hook's Coconut Crusted Oven Baked Snapper and The Black Pearl's Oven Roasted Beef Ternderloin

Desserts: Shiver-Me-Timbers White Chocolate Cheesecake, Floating Island of Tropical Fruit Treasures, Walk the Triple Layer Chocolate Gangplank Cake, The Lost Banana Treaure, The Calypso Ice Cream Sundae

The Caribbean Style Spicy Veggie Gumbo Soup is REALLY good! But for you Chocoholics out there, the Walk the Triple Layer Chocolate Gangplank
Cake is TO DIE FOR! :earseek: I could be described as a chubby woman, so finishing my dessert has never been a problem for me. But this cake is SO rich and SO chocolatey, I could only eat half of it! My whole family (all 11 of them) were truly amazed! :teeth:

I'm remembering now how awesome the food was!

Got our cruise docs yesterday! What was weird was they arrived at night, very strange. After all the regular mail. Maybe it was delivery by pixiedust!
(Hey I'm 29 but I can still believe right?)

Thanks for all the room # lists, that's great. I was thinking, as someone mentioned on this thread earlier, those electric green Mickey paint chips from home depot would make great name tags or door tags for us DISers. If we each put a small lime green Mickey somewhere on our doors we'd know immediately who the DISers are. That'd be kinda cool. I'm going to make one for us for sure.

I still have 2nd seating. I requested the rotation APLAPLA, so hopefully I will get that. Ideally I'd like to be in Lumiere's for formal night and Parrot Cay for Pirate night. My Palo reservation is for Friday night before we leave, it was the only one I could get. I'm still gonna get in line when I get to port and see if I can get a brunch or tea as well.

Now let me get this straight...there is a regular dinner PLUS a Pirate buffet? Or just a Pirate buffet IN each dining room that night? Because when you said the Pirate buffet starts at 10pm I'm thinking, with an 8:30 seating, I'll just be finishing regular dinner and not hungry for Pirate grub and I don't want to miss that! I'm trying to figure out if I should show up for my regular dinner or just the buffet.

This cruise seems all too real now! I can't believe we're only 2 weekends away! I have so much last minute stuff I have to get. But I tell you I am NOT looking forward to the packing. I have a feeling it's going to be a lot of stuff!

Anyway this year I will just be glad to be on the boat! My daughter is 5 and will be in the club too! She is more excited this year! See you guys there. We will be at the Radisson the night before. Just look for the people on :cloud9: !

I read on another thread that the "official" color is Alien Green. Just go to HD to get some.

Got mine!

Pirate night is Wed. the day we are in Cozumel. It starts around 9:45. Part is a show on the Goofey pool platform. Pirates sort of take over the ship, Mickey and the gang save the day.
There is a buffet, but the menu posted is the menu from regular rotation dinner on that night @ 6:00 and 8:30. Fireworks are the last thing, around 10:30, I think, but don't hold me to it! People do stay after the firework.

I have to say I am bit... lost! There are so many that have been on a Disney cruise before. They know all the in's and out's of what you need to get done BEFORE the cruise. I know nothing about signing up for dinners and how all the rest of the stuff goes, even being a seasoned cruiser. Good thing I have no problem flying by the seat of my pants! LOL As long as I don't go hungry, I can worry about all the other things on the NEXT cruise!

Ok ummm where are our docs!! I booked like a WHOLE week ago! :rotfl:

Donnica - this is our first DCL cruise too. My Dh's first cruise ever and my 2nd cruise. I've just been on these boards since before we booked the thing last year. You can learn a lot on these boards.

Sorry, I don't have anything meaningful to say, just wanted to see what happens when you get to 75 posts!

I know what you mean! And my post counter doesn't always work - I've posted several messages which all ended up with the same number!

I've started crossing off the days to our vacation - I'm heading out of town tonight for a 6 day design workshop. Normally I'd be excited about the workshop, but this time I keep thinking of all that I want to get done before the cruise, and this workshop is in the way! :) :rolleyes1

I just realised we still need to order the Tux for my DH, but I'll be gone before he gets home this evening. Hope next Tuesday won't be too late! I checked the website, and I think they only need one weeks notice.

Hi September 10th cruisers. I am on the October 23rd Western and am wondering if one of you would be willing to collect Navigator's from your cruise and email or snail mail copies to me? I have a website for our cruise and I would love to be able to post current navigators - since the Magic has been on the West Coast all summer the most recent Navigator's I can find on the web are pretty old. If anyone would like to help out, please send me a PM or an email at pdarrah@sprynet.com

Thanks :) :goodvibes  :wave2:  :cheer2: :flower3: :cool2: :worship: :flower1:
