Im in the planning process while free dining is on. Going with a 3 (almost 4) year old. Is it better in Sept (thinking might be hot/rainy?) or Nov.? As far as the weather and lowest crowds?

Also does anyone know if there are activities for Halloween/Christmas in the parks without attending the parties? Like are the decorations still up and characters dressed up/parades or only if you go to the extra party?

Thanks so much!!

Last two times we went in Nov, once arriving the day before Halloween for the party, and the other towards the end of Nov to catch the Christmas party.

There were some Halloween themed decoration from what I remember just before Halloween. There were even more decoration when we went in Nov, the closer you go to December the more Christmas decoration that will be up. This year Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party starts on Nov 7 so they'll have some Christmas decoration in place by this date.

From what I remember we didn't see any holiday activities besides during the party. Also the characters were not in any sort of costumes, besides during the parties where they were all dressed up in Halloween/Christmas outfits.

We like Nov because it's a little cooler than Sept, and it can still get pretty hot. I can't imaging going in summer after experiencing temperatures in Nov.

I would choose November, it is better weather wise and crowd wise. Osborne light are usually up the first or second week of November. However, the week of Thanksgiving is ver busy, the first 2-3 weeks are very nice.

Another vote for November. September will still be hot upper 90s or more. November you will get the Christmas decorations but no extra activities. The only park that I can think of was Animal Kingdom but not certain if they will still have them with all of the changes going on in the park. Characters were in winter gear.

I've done both Sept and Nov. Last year I said I'll never do Sept again after having done Nov the year before - the weather makes all the difference. You'll have more get up and go when it's not as hot and humid and Sept is definitely hot.

Thank you all!

So in November, I see that the Castle is extra lit up, is that every night in the holiday season, or is it only like that for the Christmas party as well?

Every night during the season, not just the party. Another vote here for November. September is crazy hot.
