sept vs nov trip? pros/cons?

i've noticed a lot of disers seem to like travelling in september, and we have previously travelled in nov, and would like to again, but that pesky thanksgiving week seems to always impede my plans.

october is out for us, or at least the first half of the month, due to family birthdays, but the latter part of the month (20th onwards) would be fine.

just wanting to hear from you september/october travellers... what makes travelling in september/october so great? is it the heat? are there cheaper offers/discounts available? are there extended hours in wdw/dlr? i'm seriously considering a september trip or an october/november trip next year, but want to make sure that i'm picking the month based on great criteria, rather than just a random month in the year.

also, since i'll be looking for a new job sometime in the next few months or so, i'd prefer a trip in the later part of the year to give us more time to save up our $$$

september seems to be a great month for the whole halloween deccies to be up plus seeing the park in it's 'regular mode'

and how could i pass up the opportunity to see other awesome aussies

karen i just noticed you have a huge year planned next year.... you're going to DLR in feb, plus the cruise in oct 2013, will you be going to the world in sept 2013 like you normally do, or are you skipping that bit??

As far as the DH thinks, no we arent going to WDW in 2013...but if i "happen upon" a great flight deal, then we'll have to go back

he enjoys 2 hols a year, so is happy with DLR & cruise.......

sept crowds, especially from sept 14-30 are so low its awesome..then food and wine festival sept 30 onwards so crowds pick up again....but sssshhhhhh dont tell anyone

and all the kids are back at school, and they have MNSSHP which you guys will LOVE...freaks and geeks galore so we fit right in.

Going against the grain here. We have friends in florida and they say September is still quite hot. I found the weather fantastic earily Nov, and Loved the christmas decos. We Just missed thanksgiving by 1 day

Next visit we are going the last week of October onwards to get halloween.

Most go in September because of the school holiday in Australia. Some can't afford to miss school.

we enjoy pool hopping and 100+ heat is bearable when floating with cocktail in hand in a themed pool

we also tour the parks at night, so you just adjust your plans..but with crowds so low you can do most rides in a night..

so just depends on
are you a day time park commando??
or
a night owl who swims??

If I didnt have to stick to school hols I wouldnt go in September - man it was hot, - dangerously hot, I thought, for the old, young, weak or unfit. I even said at one point
"I am surprised more people dont die pushing themselves all day out in this heat"

I thought it was all talk and we would be right ***' we are Aussies. (i chose this emoticon *** it looks like a sun at the end)

Now if your a repeat visitor like Karen and you are not trying to see everything, it might be OK - and she is right, it was lovely to swim, but lets face it, if it is a once in a lifetime trip you are not going to spend it in the pool.

Your in QLD right? Go to movieworld in February and repeat everyday for 10 days -

Airfare will also be much dearer if it is around the school holiday period - I am not sure of the crowd calendar, but I would look at late October / early November.

LOL Karen.

Our body clocks where so stuffed for the first couple days in Orlando, we went from 6pm-10pm and got on all the rides with hardly any line up or none. We where pretty much in the swing of things by day 3. We actually made rope drop.

toddle to food court to get DH breakfast while he wakes up & puts on coffee
get into togs and go to the pool..or choose a location and pool hop..or go outlet / walmart / target shopping
lunch at chosen pools food court
lounge around pool/ bar
back to room for shower
off to chosen parks around 6, dining in park
back to resort at end of EMH.

rinse repeat

this is our tried and true routine..although 3 of the days we have early morning park tours, epcot segway, AK by design & aqua squba @ Epcot...so dont know how I'll get sleeping beauty up and out by 8am

yep..thats how we pirates rolled........cause the heat just shocked us into hanging by the pool..and the rest is history

We go in September due to school holiday. Our Oct/Nov trip was my favourite. It was less crowded and less humid. We got to see Food and Wine at Epcot and Halloween. We left WDW the day after Halloween, took a 4 night cruise, flew to California and DLR was decked out for Christmas.

Im planning on Sep/Oct 2013 too! I can't wait to see the Halloween decorations. Hopefully it's not crowded. We went at the end of April/start of May this year and rides were walk on until noon. With 20 minute waits during the day. I know it's going to be a bit busier during the day, but we're planning on getting to the parks for rope drop, touring like mad until 12-1, lunch in the parks then back to the hotel for a swim/nap. Then back to the parks when the crowds have died down a bit in the evening. I can't wait to start planning early next year! I already have a rough intinerary but this will change around MNSSHP dates and what not. Im a trip planning nut

It's never too early to start planning. I already know where we are going to stay ( and we are planning on staying at 10 differnt places!),I just need to wait until just under the year mark before the accomodations open up for booking.

I am not sure how many days your doing at WDW but if you did the cruise first and then went to DL within the 14 day time frame you can use your WDW tickets at DL did I confuse you

The last full day we had at DL was the first day of the official christmas season, so the only time we could see the christmas parade, the snow and the lights on the castle. I have been lucky enough to go to DL twice at christmas. Definitely my favourite time to visit.

After 20 years of visiting WDW Sep-Oct are our favorites. Weather is a bit cooler than earlier in the year, crowds are lighter and being DVC owners, the point values on rooms is significantly less. It's certainly got my vote.

Definately California for me! I want to see the park during all of it's relays before I move onto WDW. But i'll get there one day!! I would have liked to stay at the HOJO but when I worked out my quote it was almost the same price as Paradise Pier, and I really would love to get the chance to stay on property! Otherwise we're looking at the Tropicanna. It's the cheapest nice hotel that i've come across so far, and is the place my Nan and I were originally planning on staying when we went in April. i want to be able to reserve our accomodation as soon as possible, as I know everything books up pretty fast for the Halloween period.
