Sept Rebel Alliance - Back to the Jedi Academy

Got back to running today. The first couple miles were rough but after that I fell into a groove and was able to run negative splits.

How is everyone else September starting? I had to skip a workout or two because of overestimating my ability to do a quick taper and recovery from my half marathon this weekend. Oops!

K80K - congrats on getting out there. You're keeping so active.

I'm not. Been in a bit of a slump. Got out there on Sunday. Had a great day. Have a Race for the Cure this weekend. But been so busy this week couldn't get out to run the past two days. Now we're expecting rain today and tomorrow. So looks like no run for me before Sunday. Oh well.

I'll live vicariously through you. EEC is coming up. I couldn't be any more excited if I tried.:yay::yay::yay:

I love a good run in the rain, though it looks like it may be showering on my 20miler on Saturday. That may be a little tricky, lol.

Hi team.. how's everyone doing?? I'm still dealing with some health issues, so I haven't been able to log any miles or minutes :(

Katie, you rock! Keep up the good work!!!!

Katie-good job! I admire your getting right back into it!

Suzann-hope you are feeling better soon!

I went to my first Dynamic Functional Strength Training class today (should be called 75 minutes of torture, but with good music:rotfl:). Good class, but really full. I was able to keep up with most everything. But I am not exactly the most coordinated soul, so sometimes I look like a total spaz. Running is so easy in comparison, but I need to incorporate the strength into my routine, not just run.

Have a 5k on Sunday, part of my taper to my FIRST HALF MARATHON! Only 9 more days until my first 13.1 run, I am both excited and nervous. Hoping for good weather. FIL and I are going to drive the course this week and see what we can expect.

Veronica~ Laughing about your class name!!! Good idea about driving the course too! You're going to ROCK!

Enjoy your 5K Veronica!

I have my bottles ready to go for the morning, fuel belt is laid out and the servings of Honey Stingers are counted out. Have my skirt ready to be taken upstairs and laid out. Have been concentrating on my hydration all day. Hopefully my 20 will go smoothly tomorrow. I have company for the first 4 and the last 6 of my run. Just need to squeeze the middle 10 out. I do have a friend that has offerred to accompany me on bike but I fear I might be too slow for her. We shall see.

Thanks guys!

Katie, good luck with the 20, I don't know that I could do any of it alone. I am so thankful that I have two great training partners in my inlaws. I don't think I would be nearly as ready if it weren't for them. And at ages 57 and nearly 67 (dad's b-day is the 26th), they really are an inspiration for healthy living and exercise throughout life.

I ended up stopping just before mile 15. I haven't ran this particular trail recently because of some ankle issues. Thought I had it under control so I returned to it. It is REALLY hilly. Ankle ended up acting up so to prevent injury I stopped. Disappointed I didn't make it to 20 but I know I made the right decision.

Katie - pixie dust for your ankle. :wizard: You made the right decision.

Ran/walked the race for the cure this morning here in New York. My bronchitis is kicking my butt and couldn't breathe a lot. So my time was pretty bad (slower than I train) but that's cause I had to walk a lot of it. Still I raised over $500 and I did it. So I'm proud. Now just trying to kick this bronchitis before EEC.

Wow, great job raising money and finishing the race despite feeling ill. Rest up and :wizard: that the bronchitis is gone long before EEC.

Katie~ Great run still thought!!!

Jane~ Awesome raising that much money for the event!

I got outside this weekend, but only to picnic and walked a bit of a trail... so that was nice since it was beautiful out!

Sounds like a nice relaxing weekend... I look forward to having one of those after the MCM, lol.

Checking in with a spin class last night (remind me never go to the evening class again - the instructor was way too perky and almost got hit with my water bottle when she started singing "Livin' on a Prayer") and a 5 mile run this morning. Took the pace nice and easy after my bonk this weekend and it felt pretty good.

Laughing at the instructor comment! Its funny when they start singing... but I guess they get into it! I think its weird when the instructor doesn't ride with the class, they just walk around and order people around.. I don't like that.

Whats up everyone,

I haven't posted in like a week or so, but I have been active. Ive been taking moose on regular walks in the morning and I've been doing slow 2-mile runs for the knee. Its starting to feel pretty good but I think im going to take it easy for a little longer. Oh yeah, I actually have been keeping up with spreadsheet this month too. That by itself should count for something.

Anyway, I might head the gym after class and do some stationary biking. I'm starting to realize how fast the WDW marathon is creeping up so hopefully with biking I can put in a longer workout without too much stress on the knee. Thats all i have for now.

Steve

Suzann: I haven't been in a class like that yet...I probably wouldn't like it if they weren't riding either. :P

Steve: I would certainly think keeping the spreadsheet up-to-date would count for something. :) I can't believe how close all of my late fall and winter races are getting.

Hey team,

I went to the gym today and lifted for an hour and then I ran a mile on the treadmill. I planned on running more, but it was so boring and I was already tired from lifting. I'm planning on getting a longer run tomorrow. Thats all I have for now.

Steve

Hi Everyone -

Just stopping by to say that I have done nothing this week. :sad2: Bronchitis has kept me at home and just trying to rest up for Everest Challenge.

I'm so proud of the rest of you for running and going to the gym though. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I'll just sit here on the sidelines for the next week and pretend that I'm running along side all of you.

Forgot to put it on the spreadsheet before leaving for work, but I did get 8 miles in this morning. They felt REALLY good. Hopefully I feel that good for the PDR this weekend.

My Mom has been on a low iodine diet for the last month so I stopped on my way to work this morning to get her a Pumpkin muffin to celebrate being done her testing. I was going to get myself one as well to celebrate my 8 miles, but they only had one left. :scared1: I have it in the fridge at work and will check on it periodically to ensure that none of my coworkers try to steal my Mom's muffin. Wish me luck!
