Sept Rebel Alliance - Back to the Jedi Academy

Hi Tammy! Nice to see you again! Good job on the half!!!!

Chrissy, sorry your running partner moved away.. that's the worst! Its always easier to get out and run when you have someone else to help motivate!

Jane~ Were you in a late corral? I heard those were the ones that got the most rain!

As for me, I did hills last night... oh how my body hates them! Ha! Half a mile in 10:50

Jane~ Were you in a late corral? I heard those were the ones that got the most rain!

Nope in the first one. It didn't start raining until I was on the scavenger hunt and it was fine. On my last clue it decided to pour. So just running from Everest to Dino there were puddles up to my ankles. By the time out of Dino there were puddles to my mid calf and then i walked across the parking lot. It was real fun though. And I feel like the rain is part of the whole story/experience.

Starting my training tonight for the princess half. Tried to get up this morning and start early so I can change my running time from night to morning. But it was cold and dark so you know how that went. Nights it is then.

Hope everyone is doing well!

Checking in with 5.25 miles tonight. They felt really good. My next run will be my long run. I am moving it to Thursday since I am doing RFTT this weekend. Tomorrow morning I am making myself get up and go to spin class. :)

I was successful at making myself get up for spin class. Was totally ready to hit the ol' snooze button but stopped myself. It was a tough class but it is done! :) Long run tomorrow in Orlando since I have RFTT this weekend.

Hi all.

I have been sick with the flu, so I haven't contributed to the totals in a while. But I am ready to be back on track today! I can't believe it is October already! Where did the summer go? The temperature here dropped from about 85 last tuesday to around 40 on Wednesday. It has been cold since. I am trying to transition to winter exericise, which includes more treadmill - at least until I save some cash and make a trip to the store for some winter running gear.

katie - you are doing awesome! I check in here for some additional motivation. Seeing what other people do keeps me motivated (or at least feeling guilty) and makes me want to get to work! :cool1:

Manda... you can do it!!! The flu sucks :(

Katie... You rock! Good job not hitting the snooze (which is so tough in the morning!!!)

Yesterday I walked on the treadmill at the gym at 15% incline during my lunch hour. Tonight is bowling :)

Katie - great job. Good luck this weekend and have a blast. Don't forget to enjoy some yummy treats at Food & Wine at some point.

Suzann - you make me want to go bowling now. Maybe I'll just play with my Wii later.

Manda - Hope you are feeling better. I just went through that. I'm the same though checking in to make sure others keep me motivated/guilty.

Yesterday I had a bad day - boy drama. so you know, I didn't run but instead ate a bowl of ice cream. Totally kept within my weight watchers points though so I'm good there. Promise to get better this week.

Jane~ Love the Wii bowling, but I'm never good at it... :rotfl: Oh, and boy drama sucks! Big hugs!

Katie... how was the weekend??

For my weekend, I did 21 miles on my bike on Saturday, 4.5 mile easy hike yesterday and then went to the gym this morning!! Yay

Hey folks! This weekend was hot but good. Had lots of fun with my running friends. Didn't get to make the WISH meet as I had hoped. Traffic, parking and another engagement to go to all stacked up against me.

I got 8 miles in Friday before the race. I credit those with helping me to be strong and not taken down by the heat during the 10K itself. It was actually a few degrees cooler for the 10K and I think that made the difference for me. It was a little crowded on the course, but I am pleased with my time.

Hi All!

Jane - Sorry about the boy drama. I hate that! Good job staying in weight watchers points with the ice cream. Big Hugs

Katie - Glad you had a good 10K.

Suzann - 21 miles on your bike! I am impressed. I (sadly) only learned how to ride a bike last year, so I am like a wobbly 8 year old, but hopefully someday I will be able to log the miles. I need a better bike first.

I took it pretty easy this weekend, but I think I finally beat my flu! Time to get back to it. It was a nice holiday, and I did go golfing with the DH and his grandparent's on Monday. I am not a good golfer, but can still have fun. That was the extent of my activity this weekend. Hoping to start a Couch to 5K program today. DH is worried about my knees, so I have to convince him I will take it slow.

Have a great week!

Hi There -

Seriously I have fallen off the running wagon and the DIS wagon this past week. But I'm back on in full effect.

Katie - Glad you had a great weekend. My mom says they are still in their heat wave. Glad you survived.

Suzie - I too am impressed by your biking skills. :worship:

Manda - I LOVED the C25K program. I started in May of this year. Finished in August. I wasn't quite at the 5K at that point, so I didn't do my first 5k until September. I loved the structure. Best of luck to you.

AFM - No worries about the boy Ladies. It was just unproductive and annoying. I finally ran tonight for the first time since EEC. WOW!!! The weather here is perfection. (53 and beautiful). I'm so motivated. Just started the Run/Walk MFM Half Marathon program. Maybe I'll do the princess half. But I might be buying a house at that point so trip to Disney might not be in the budget, but in any event I'm sure I'll find a half to participate in.

Hope everyone is having a great month! Promising to be better (again). I even logged my run tonight. Yay Me!

It was definitely toasty down there. Felt a big difference with I got off the plane back in Baltimore. Was too tired to run today, but I plan to do a spin class in the morning and then hit the road and get some miles in on Thursday.

I was true to my word and got back out there yesterday. Well, actually I got on the TM, but it counts. I did the first day of the first week of C25K. It wasn't too hard since I had already been trying to ease myself into running (jogging). I use the TM to take advantage of the springs and let me knees get used to it before I try pounding them on the pavement. It was a compromise with DH who doesn't think I should be trying to run at all. We will see how it goes. But it was nice to get some time in. I was going to do the perscribed 25 minutes and then add on an extra half hour of just walking, but I was wearing the wrong socks and I could feel some rubbing and didn't want to put my feet out of commission, so i stopped after about 35 minutes. Oh well. I am disappointedly only down about half a pound since last week. I feel like I have been doing really good with my eating, so it is frustrating. But hopefully now that I can get back to exercise things will speed up.

Jane - glad the drama wasn't too serious. I will let you know what I think about the C25K when I am done. I can say that I am glad I wasn't actually coming straight from the couch, because it would have been hard (I think) if you were really just starting out. I also dont' think I go as fast as they want me to for the timing. I dont' think I will be able to do 10 minute miles to start, but maybe I will surprise myself :-)

Manda - I did the program without ever jogging/running before and it was difficult but i got through. I also do am on weight watchers while doing C25K (and still am) and at the beginning I didn't see huge weight loss either. It's weird. But what I did find was that my body shape changed even though the scale didn't reflect any out of the norm weight loss. Be on the lookout, all of a sudden one day you wonder where all this room came from in the legs of your pants. :)

Hi All

I did W1D2 of C25K yesterday and added an extra 20 minutes of walking on the end. I think I will have to just walk today, my knees were complaining at the end of the running yesterday. I will listen to them and give them a day off of running. I am feeling better about my half pound loss. At first it had me very discouraged – to the point that I wanted to forget about it and head to the candy machine (which I unfortunately have to walk past to get water at work – Evil). But I didn’t give in and I feel better for it.

Sounds like everyone's doing great!!! Keep up the good work!!

I went to the gym at lunch yesterday and went bowling at league last night.. good day for getting up and moving!

Sounds like a good day Suzann. The only bowling I ever do is on the Wii. I am pretty good at virtual bowling. Too bad those skills don't translate into the real world.

I walked 3 miles yesterday. DH came with me, so we went his pace, which is about 16mph. Didn't get my heart rate up, but it was a beautiful day, so a nice walk. Tonight is weed 1 day 3 of C25K. Hopefully my knees can take it!

Have a great weekend everyone!

I am back from Florida and my 2 weeks vacation. Was it ever hot down there. One thing I have decided is I am never driving down there anymore: 24 hours of driving in 2 days is way too much.
I did enjoy the race in Disney but it was hot and humid. I don't know about doing a half-marathon in October if it is that kind of weather.
And 1 hour before arriving at the border (Canada), wednesday evening, there was snowflakes:upsidedow. Welcome back home.

Diane

8 miles in this morning. They were cold and wet. Last long run before MCM. I am as ready as I will ever be.
